The Royal Opera House opened its doors to families on Saturday October 1st as they were able to enjoy a world class cultural experience at a reduced price. The ‘Welcome Performance’ involved a series of special matinees of opera and ballet put on specifically for families who may never have been to The Royal Opera House before. Adults and children were able to participate in talks, workshops and activities before seeing the pro’s in action themselves. Families could even visit back stage and watch the mechanic’s as the opera set turned in to the ballet set between shows. The show itself was Gianni Schicchi and Rubies, giving families both opera and ballet to experience on this fantastic occasion. WinkBall video reporters were at the special event and asked attendee’s what part of the day they had participated in and which part of the day they had enjoyed the most.
