First of all, I would recommend searching on Twitter for the hashtag of your destination, and that will come up with tips and local attractions in the area. Before I go to any new destination I always put a notice out on Twitter asking people if they have any local tips or insights. And that actually helped me find a great museum in Seattle called the Sci-Fi Museum. Second, I would recommend just getting off the bus and walking around a new town. It is the best way to find local restaurants, street art and really just see what the culture is like. Third, I would recommend bringing your smart phone. My iPhone is my number one tool when I’m traveling. I always use Yelp to find local restaurants and attractions that are highly ranked by people that live there.
