Majora's Mask: How to Ride Epona in Any Form

I saw this glitch on http://www.jaytheham.com/zcw/Majora%27s_Mask_Any_Item_Epona_-_Defy_Tatl but some of the information seems off.

To do:
Step 1: Call Eponaand ride her into an area with an activated owl statue.

Step 2: Put a mask on a C-button.

Step 3: While on Epona, Z-target the statue, save, exit, then come back.

Step 4: When you come back, hit the C-button with the mask.

Step 5: PRESS A. This will make Tatl's message pop up. If you do not press A, you will be in control of Epona with Link floating there. It is cool, but you can't go anywhere.

Side Notes:

Deku Link: While firing arrows on B, the game will freak out with the annoying Z-target sound. To get rid of this, just hit Z.

Goron Link: The link says the game will freeze if you hit B, but mine didn't. He just didn't do anything until he got off Epona then it freaked out a bit.

Zora Link: I was trying to figure out how to make the boomerangs work. I think they work if you start and stop.
