Singing Fools "The Bum Rap"
This is the music video for what has since been touted as the first rap single ever released in Canada. First aired on Ottawa community radio station CKCU-FM in November 1982, "The Bum Rap" was inspired by American rappers Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five and the Canadian government's wage controls that were launched with the release of a lame promotional single called "The Six & Five Song" that was composed and performed by a government finance minister. As for the production values of this Fools' video, as Pierre Trudeau once quipped--"Just watch me!"
