How to Make a Brooklyn - part of the exotic cocktails video series by GeoBeats.

Hey there. I'm Jace and I'm over here at The Fifth Estate in Park Slope, Brooklyn. I'm here to teach you how to make our Brooklyn. So our Brooklyn is a variation on a Manhattan. First off we're going to start of with a cocktail glass, and we're going to chill it while we build our cocktail in the mixing glass. So we take our mixing glass, and we're going to take 2 ounces of bourbon, and we use Maker's Mark here but any bourbon will do. We get 2 ounces of that. The next part is 3/4th of an ounce of Martini and Rossi Bianco. It's a particular kind of sweet vermouth. So we'll do this next and I'm going to add a couple of dashes of Regan's Number 6 Orange Bitters. That would be this guy right here. Then we're going to fill with ice to the top of the liquor, and we're going to stir. The reason we stir instead of shake, in order to activate the cold, is to minimize the amount of bruising to the bourbon. We don't want to separate the flavors or anything like that. So while that's sitting there cold, we're going to prep the cocktail glass. So drop the ice out and take Angostura Bitters, put a couple of dashes at the bottom of that, and then we're going to coat the glass with the bitters. And then when you're done coating, you'll remove the excess. Here we are. Strain the cocktail into the cocktail glass. The garnish the best part about the drink in my opinion. So we're going to take an orange. Then we're going to slice off a piece of peel right over the drink, and from here, light a couple of matches. Get those going. And we squeeze the orange peel, and the oils from the peel jump into the cocktail. And there we go, your our Brooklyn.
