Hi I'm Scott Mayer. I'm the mixologist here at Miami's oldest bar in Cabaret, Tobacco Road.

We're going to go ahead and make the Brazilian national cocktail called the Caipirinha. Do our little twist on it here, Caipirinha is traditionally muddled lime, take a nice couple chunks of that. Throw them into the cocktail shaker here. I'm going to take a nice handful of blueberries, dump those in, as well. Now we're going to top that with about two tablespoons of demerara sugar, which is a natural, a lot of you know it as turbinado or sugar in the raw, which is how classically done in Brazil. This is all then muddled together.

This drink does require quite a bit of a elbow grease, as you need to really mash up those blueberries and those limes to get you the flavors that you want in this cocktail. One of the things I love most about this drink is that great purple color. Now we're going to go ahead and add about two ounces of cachaça. Add some ice. Give this drink just a quick shake. And then we're going to go ahead and roll that back into the glass. So there you have it, kind of our twist on the classic Brazilian Caipirinha. This is our Blueberry Caipirinha.
