Oscar tip Colin Firth gets a Hollywood Star

British actor Colin Firth has been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Firth is the 2,429th star to join the collection and is located next to fellow Brit Emma Thompson.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, the potential Oscar nominee added: "I have a feeling I'm going to be here when I'm about 93 under a pile of blankets asking for spare change and trying to convince anyone that will listen that I'm the guy whose name is on the sidewalk, failing to recognise that the old lady next to me is in fact Emma Thompson."

Critics are tipping Colin for an Oscar nomination later this month for his portrayal of a stammering King George VI in The King's Speech.

The British national treasure received a tribute from his King's Speech co-star Guy Pearce who added: "It's good that we're having this event at this time of the morning as it at least ensures that Colin will be sober."
