Season series -- It's the first meeting of the year for these Central Division rivals. They split the series last year, even snagging an extra point in each other's overtime wins, the Jackets prevailing 3-2 on Jan. 30 and the Blues reciprocating with a 2-1 win in their final meeting on Apr. 5.
Big story -- No doubt the Blues are the hottest team in the NHL with a seven-game winning streak, their longest since a nine-game run from Oct. 15-Nov. 5, 2002, which has them right up with the Kings and Capitals atop the NHL standings with 20 points. They're doing it, however, not by smoking opponents with offense but snuffing them out with goaltending. Jaroslav Halak, the hero of the Canadiens' playoff run last year, is 8-1-1 this season with three shutouts.
