Ex-SAS: Gamers should pilot drones

Ex-SAS soldier and writer, Chris Ryan, says the skills that video game players pick up on their consoles could make them better soldiers.

He said: "When you are behind the controls of a game, it's more or less the same controls as a drone."

Ryan was part of the Bravo Two Zero patrol and wrote the book The One That Got Away about his experience in the Gulf War.

"We need guys who played these games and are very skilled at them. It's guys like me on the ground that would rely on an ex-gamer to help out."

A drone, or an unmanned aerial vehicle, is flown remotely by a pilot that is not onboard an aircraft.

Over the past few weeks there has been a surge in the number of missile strikes made by unmanned US drones in Pakistan.
