X Factor backlash over final 12

Cheryl Cole is fondly known as the nation's sweetheart. But X Factor fans had plenty of other names for her recently and they weren't kind ones!

It's after she picked Katie Waissel and Cher Lloyd to go through to the final 12 in the talent contest, even though they fluffed their last performances.

Viewers were up in arms after hotly tipped Zimbabwean singer Gamu Nhengu failed to make the cut. More than 26 thousand people have now joined a Facebook page called "Gamu should have got through."

Supporters questioned why Cher and Katie who was branded a "drama queen" and "a little bit annoying" by mentor Cheryl were allowed to carry on, despite breaking down during their songs.

Surprised Sinitta tweeted: "What's wrong with Tweedy pie?"

TV Phillip Schofield was just as shocked by the decisions, writing on Twitter: "....there is uproar in the Schofe household. No Gamu! Cheryl, have you lost your mind?"
