In Thailand, about 400 anti-government protesters stage a small, but theatrical protest, to remember those killed in the mass protests of April and May, that left 90 dead and 1,800 wounded.

They acted in a play re-telling the story of their clashes with security officers.

The event was organized with the aim of defying the government's emergency decree banning gatherings of more than five people.

The decree is still in force in Bangkok.

"The beauty of democracy is freedom of expression, freedom of expression in speaking. But freedom in abusing people, shooting people - that is not democracy."

The state of emergency bans political gatherings of more than five people and gives the government powers to impose curfew and censor media and detain suspects without charge for 30 days.

Sunday's protesters wrapped a symbolic red cloth around the Thai Democracy Monument, which marks the beginning of Thai constitutional government.
