Lesnar beats Carwin in return at UFC 116 In UFC 116’s blockbuster clash of the titans it was Brock Lesnar who reigned supreme. The two rounds of action delivered all the excitement fans could have hoped for with both men having moments of dominance. In the first round it looked as if Carwin’s power punching was going to win the day as he appeared to hurt Lesnar badly with an uppercut, dropped him and began to rain down the kind of ground and pound that has demolished many of his previous opponents. Lesnar somehow survived though and made it through to the second round. With Carwin having put a tremendous amount of effort into attempting to finish the fight he came out looking winded in the second. That presented Lesnar with his time to shine and he took it, utilizing his wrestling gameplan to take Carwin to the floor and then catching everyone by surprise by forgoing his own ground and pound for an ambitious arm triangle choke. As he cinched the choke in deeper Carwin had no option but to tap. It was a remarkable comeback for Lesnar who looked extremely close to being stopped in the opening round, but showed the heart of a champion to bounce back and claim victory. With the win Lesnar moves to 5-1 in his pro MMA career and will now look to his next challenge in the shape of another undefeated fighter in Cain Velasquez. As for Carwin, he suffers the first loss of his thirteen fight career, and with his enormous punching power on display again tonight there’s no question that he will still have a lot of say in the future of the heavyweight division.
