Heather: Piers didn't play Cupid for me and Macca

Heather Mills has insisted very firmly that Piers Morgan did not introduce her to her ex-husband Sir Paul McCartney, as he has claimed.

Earlier this week, the former model told us that she "can't stand" the Britain's Got Talent judge, because she cannot forgive him for unwittingly publishing hoax photographs of British troops allegedly torturing Iraqis when he was a newspaper editor.

In Morgan's book - The Insider - he recalls how he told Sir Paul to get in touch with Heather after he had been impressed with her performance at the Mirror's Pride of Britain Awards in 1999.

Later, upon discovering that the couple had started dating, Piers wrote: "Funny to have been the conduit for their first meeting".

In recent years, relations between Morgan and Mills have soured somewhat.

Heather has now tweeted at ITN to say: "Piers Morgan never introduced me to my ex-husband, he is a liar and dines on this."
