We estimate that food-borne diseases causes approximately 76 million illnesses, 325,000 hospitalizations, and 5,000 deaths in the United States each year. Most known and harmful pathogens, Salmonella,Listeria,E.Coli 0157 and Toxoplasma, are responsible for deaths each year, more than 75% of those caused by known pathogens.
