Those who will recall, this game was slated to go ahead 10 days ago, but Liverpool officials asked the FA to call the match off as they were under the assumption that the roads and pavement near Anfield were far too dangerous for supporters to navigate. So, as it stood, they moved the match. Since that time, a dreadful season for Liverpool has continued. They were knocked out of the FA Cup by manager-less Reading and saw an injury time goal from Stoke seal a 1-1 draw. Tottenham have had little to do lately. They had a walk over, 4-0, of Peterborough in the FA Cup on January 2nd, and then had two weeks off to prepare for Hull at home. They came out sloppy, couldn’t net a winner, and saw Hull goalkeeper Boaz Myhill, have the match of his life in the 0-0 draw. A goal will be needed on Wednesday on their trip to Anfield. As you’ll recall, Liverpool will still be without Fernando Torres, Steven Gerrard and Yossi Benayoun who were all injured in the FA Cup exit to Reading. It should be an interesting tie on Wednesday and could provide anti-Liverpoolites a chance to really believe the Reds won’t finish in the top four for the coveted Champions League spot.
