A thick fog engulfed India's northern Amritsar City on Monday reducing visibility and stalling traffic.

Near freezing temperatures also made life difficult for the people.

The fog delayed many trains and flights while the city traffic was reduced to a crawl.

[Bharat Bhushan, School Bus Driver]:
"There is so much fog and despite putting on fog lights the visibility is less. I'm having difficulty driving, the children are also getting late for school."

The fog caused train delays in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh as well.

[Suresh Choubey, Passenger]:
"We are facing difficulties, as we have to wait at the platform in this cold. We've been waiting here for the past two to three hours but still we are clueless as to when we will be able to reach our destination."

Meanwhile, dense fog had disrupted flights at the New Delhi Airport for the past four days. But flights are back on schedule today.

The fog led to the cancellation of around 26 flights on Sunday.
