USCG - N.C. Sailboat rescue

Elizabeth City, N.C., HC-130J Hercules aircraft crew during the following rescue: NORFOLK, Va. - The Coast Guard rescued the remaining person aboard the disabled sailboat Croc, 100 nautical miles off Cape Lookout, N.C., at 8 a.m., Thursday. Rescue Coordination Center Norfolk watchstanders received a distress signal from the sailboat Croc at 5 p.m., Wednesday. Andrea Tardini, and his passenger Sophie Belend were transiting from Norfolk to Marsh Harbor, Bahamas. An Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C, HC-130J Hercules aircraft crew launched and located the distressed vessel. Tardini stated they were taking on water and requested to be taken off. An MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter rescue crew from the air station arrived on scene at 2 a.m., and hoisted Belend to safety, but due to deteriorating weather conditions they were not able to hoist Tardini at that time.
