Low Energy? Do you need more Protein?

http://www.vibrantvegan.com Do you need a lot or extra protein for energy? The short answer is: Nope! We get energy from three sources: Carbohydrates Fats Proteins Our body uses the stored energy in these nutrients to make something called Adenosine Triphosphate or ATP. You can think of ATP as the energy currency in the body. In the U.S.A. we use the U.S. dollar for all transactions requiring money. In our body we use ATP for all transactions requiring energy. So, to be used as energy we must transform carbs, fats and proteins into ATP. We get the best return on our investment by producing ATP with Carbs, second best with fat and lastly protein. Protein, it turns out, is a poor source of energy. In fact, at rest protein only supplies 1-2% of your energy needs. When you are working as hard as you can protein might supply up to 10% of your energy. Bottom line: If you are feeling low on energy it isn't because you are protein deficient. It is likely you didn't sleep enough, eat enough, exercise enough, drink enough pure water, engage in joyful, uplifting activities enough or some combo thereof. Be Vegan, Be Vibrant!
