Bad girl art is a superheroins artform genre coined after the analogy of good girl art which also includes strong female characters in comic books. Bad girls are typically tough and violent superheroines.
Characters: Witchblade, Vampirella, BloodRayne, Tomb Raider, Darkchylde, Fathom, Lady Death, The Magdalena, and Shi are just a few of these characters.
"Bad Girls" in comics have been accused of being sexist and known more for the "cheesecake factor" than good storytelling and is said to be exploitative of the female form of the super character/ anti heroine by most feminists, who believe the characters to be a step back in the fight for gender equality. Yet strangely it is these characters that tend to be the most popular among women and the most celebrated and most empowering to female comic fans.
