African Community Meeting - 29 August 2009

Local members of the Labour Party from the African community organised a community meeting at Slade Green Community Centre on 29 August 2009. This is the first in a series of public meetings organised by the Labour Party across Bexleyheath & Crayford.

Howard Dawber PPC for Bexleyheath & Crayford attended along with Teresa Pearce, PPC for Erith & Thamesmead, Councillor Dora Dixon-Fyle from Southwark, who is Vice Chair of the Labour Party's BME taskforce, local Councillors Brenda Langstead, Alan Deadman and John Eastaugh, local campaigner Stefano Borella and two representatives from Hope Not Hate, the anti-BNP campaign group.

The Labour representatives listened to local people talk about issues of concern to them including schools, health, crime, transport and the need for more spaces for community events and church services. In this film we show Howard's introduction and then one of the presentations made by local young people about the lack of youth activities in Bexley.
