Historic Candy Drop

2009 marks the 60th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift.CARE was part of the celebrations in Berlin. Working with the Berlin Air Service CARE organised a ‘candy drop’ in memory of the candy dropped into the blockaded city 60 years ago. CARE was the only aid organisation flying in CARE-packages with their own chartered planes. More than 200,000 of the CARE-packages, which became famous in Germany and a synonym for humanitarian aid, were brought to the starving Berliners. As part of the celebrations in Berlin CARE dropped over 700 packages of sweets to the crowds watching the recreated air display. Distributed by Tubemogul.
