In the main event of the evening, Josh Sauder, training out of Bas Rutten’s camp, took on Jason Meaders to crown the 805 Pride Lightweight Champion. Meaders actually came in over the weight limit and had a noticeable weight and size advantage over his smaller opponent. Sauder made up for the disparity in size by showing true skills as a well-rounded fighter, but in the end, couldn’t overcome the size disadvantage. Action went back and forth during the fight, but Meaders imposed his size and win to take the 805 title by unanimous decision. The title went to Meaders, but Souder deserves a lot of credit and respect for fighting someone that was technically out of his weight class.
