The US administration on April 22 said it had received trade deal proposals from 18 nations while they are meeting this week with 34 countries to discuss trade following its 90-day pause on US reciprocal tariffs on imports.

President Donald Trump also said he would not play “hardball" with China on trade and the US tariffs on China's goods will be nowhere near 145%.

00:43but they have to and other countries have to make a deal and if they don't make a deal we'll set the
00:49deal because we're we're the ones that set the deal scott and uh howard and myself and others
00:57we're going to be setting the deal and it'll be a fair deal for everybody and it'll be
01:02i think it's a process that's going to go pretty quickly
01:05145 is very high and it won't be that high it's not going to be that high
01:20it got up to that we were talking about fentanyl where you know various uh elements built it up to
01:28145 no it won't be anywhere near that high
01:31it'll come down substantially but it won't be uh zero used to be zero we were just destroyed china
01:40was taking us for a ride and just not going to have it's not going to happen but they're going to do
01:46very well and i think they're going to be happy and i think we're going to live together very happily
01:51and ideally work together so i think it's going to work out very well but no it's at 145 there will
01:58not be anywhere near that number if we don't make a deal we'll set it we'll just set the number and
02:04you know i think they'll want to be a part of the united states we're doing great we're gonna
02:08this is the golden age as paul said we're talking about the golden age it'll never be a time like this
02:14in my opinion and uh china wants to be a part of that too good afternoon everybody well i spoke to
02:23our entire trade team this morning there is a lot of progress being made we now have 18 proposals on
02:28paper that have been brought to the trade team again these are proposals on paper that countries
02:33have proposed to the trump administration and to our government uh you have secretary besant secretary
02:39lutnik ambassador greer nec director has it and peter navarro the entire trade team meeting with 34
02:45countries this week alone we are moving at trump speed to ensure these deals are made on behalf of
02:52the american worker and the american people i actually do have something to share on that i asked the
02:57president about this before coming out here uh and he wanted me to share with all of you that we're
03:01doing very well in respect to a potential trade deal with china uh and the president and the
03:06administration are setting the stage for a deal with china so we feel everyone involved wants to
03:12see a trade deal happen uh and the ball is moving in the right direction
