China vows to 'fight to the end' as tariff war with US rages

China vowed on Tuesday (April 8) to "fight to the end" if the United States insists on escalating the trade and tariff conflict.  Beijing's rebuke came after Trump threatened to ratchet up tariffs on US imports from the world's No. 2 economy to more than 100% on Wednesday (April 9) in response to China's decision to match 'reciprocal' duties Trump initially unveiled last week. 00:14seriously damaged the multilateral trade system based on rules,

00:19and seriously impacted the global economic order and stability.

00:23It is a typical unilateralism, protectionism, and economic domination.

00:28It has been widely opposed by the international community.

00:32China strongly condemns this and firmly opposes it.

00:36I want to emphasize again that there is no winner in the trade war and the tariff war,

00:42and there is no way out of protectionism.

00:45The Chinese do not cause trouble and are not afraid of trouble.

00:50Pressure, threat, and blackmail are not the right way to deal with China.

00:57China will take necessary measures to firmly maintain its legitimate rights and interests.

01:06I think what the U.S. has done does not reflect the willingness to have a serious dialogue.

01:13If the U.S. really wants to talk, it should show an attitude of equality, respect, and mutual understanding.

01:22If the U.S. ignores the interests of the two countries and the international community,

01:27and insists on fighting the tariff war and the trade war,

01:30China will surrender to the end.
