00:00The leadership abilities of para-Bersatu chief Ahmad Faizal Azumu have been questioned following reports that Bersatu deputy president Hamza Zainuddin had been assigned to alleviate tensions in the state chapter.

00:16Analyst Taufik Yaqob of University Malaya said the claim that party president Muhyiddin Yassin had specifically assigned Hamza to manage the dispute highlighted Faizal's weaknesses.

00:27Yesterday, FMT reported that several assemblymen and divisional leaders were unhappy with Faizal for sending a letter to the state assembly requesting that Sungai Manik assemblyman Zainul Fatsi Paharuddin swap seats with Changkatjong assemblyman, not Ziruddin Bandi.

00:48Taufik said the situation in Perak was a repeat of what occurred in Negeri Sembilan when Faizal was the state's Perikata national chairman.

00:58Faizal, the then-Bersatu deputy president, replaced Edin Shazli Sheikh in 2023, only to be dropped in January 2024, less than a year after taking over the post.

01:11Asmi Hassan, a fellow at the National Council of Professors, said Faizal's image would take a hit from the controversy.

01:18He said the fact that Hamza had been called in to resolve the matter proved that Faizal's leadership was problematic.
