00:00All right, this is some scary moments for this bus driver.
00:10This older guy was driving a bus and some flying metal flies in through the window and
00:17hits him.
00:18Here's just some of the raw footage before we get to the story here.
00:20I think he swore right off the bat that I dropped out, so I'll have to re-pray it.
00:39Are you okay?
00:41Sometimes it sounds like Jayden doing noises.
00:44That's what I get.
00:45I hear Chuck.
00:50Oh my gosh, this is terrifying.
00:54He keeps driving.
00:56He's still driving.
00:58That's crazy.
00:58He won't stop.
00:59Stop.
01:00Put your foot on the brakes.
01:01Stop.
01:03Pull over.
01:04He won't.
01:06Look at all the cars, though, going by him.
01:08Is he dead or something?
01:12Someone ring the bell or something.
01:14Yeah, but these people are thinking they're going to die in this bus.
01:18Of course.
01:18They're like, what's up?
01:19I'm sorry.
01:19I pull you out of there at some point.
01:25Get a hold of yourself.
01:26That's a scary thing to be here.
01:29Calm down.
01:30You got it.
01:31I'm so down.
01:32They hit the brakes, man.
01:33I get it.
01:34He's just been impaled.
01:36Right?
01:37He's been stabbed through his chest.
01:39Yeah, he's not.
01:41He's dead.
01:43He's like, he just should have stayed in retirement.
01:45I should have stayed in retirement.
01:46He should have.
01:47That guy is so calm.
01:48That's helping him.
01:49He's like, it's okay, man.
01:51But stop the damn bus.
01:53Slow down, baby.
01:56So here's the story.
02:00Surprisingly, less than a week after being hit by that metal, he's back at work now.
02:04Oh, gosh.
02:05So he's doing okay.
02:06Here's the update of the story from KOMO News.
02:09This was such a close call, especially considering the bus was going 60 miles an hour here on the highway in downtown Bellevue.
02:17I spoke with a driver today.
02:18He told me he knew he had to keep that bus under control and protect his passengers.
02:23It was an afternoon trip to a basketball game on I-405 in Bellevue when a seemingly normal bus ride took a scary turn.
02:33That is Stuart O'Leary in the driver's seat, injured, but keeping the bus under control as the team's coaches run up to help.
02:44I'm glad it was me, not them, any of my passengers.
02:49Less than a week later, Stuart is back on the job.
02:52He snapped this picture as he was going into the ambulance.
03:03So they were pulling glass out of my face and had some gauze on there trying to mop me up a little bit.
03:09He walked away with glass cuts to his face, a serious bruise to the chest, and one wild story.
03:15He's a hero. He's an absolute hero for keeping those kids safe.
03:19His colleagues have put up signs to show how proud they are of him.
03:23He never wavered. He kept his hands on the steering wheel, and his first priority were the kids.
03:29The windshield is now on display in the bus office, and that piece of metal, Stuart gets to keep it.
03:35Did it come from an overpass in the area? I don't have any idea.
03:39While they haven't figured out where the piece of metal came from, one thing about this terrifying situation is crystal clear.
03:45Kept the girl safe. That's what the job of a bus driver is.
03:49You know, transporting students safe, like, I did that.
03:53I'm pretty happy about it.
03:54Yeah, where's the kids? I don't see one kid.
03:57Are they just way back?
03:58Where are they? I don't get this story.
04:03Were they on the way to get the girls?
04:06But they acted like he saved the kids on the bus.
04:09I didn't see any kids.
04:10Maybe there's only like six girls or something on this team.
04:14Way in the back.
04:16When a seemingly normal bus ride took a scary turn.
04:21Oh, I can't drink anything.
04:21That is Stuart O'Leary in the driver's seat, injured, but keeping...
04:26I wouldn't want to see it on display at work every time you walk by it.
04:29No, no.
04:29Where's the piece of metal that almost killed you?
04:31Yeah, a little PTSD, maybe?
04:33He seems much older there, man, when he's growing.
04:45And he sounds like he's 90.
04:47You know, but he's not.
04:48He's not.
04:49It's weird.
04:50If I got hit with a piece of metal right now...
04:52He'd sound that way.
04:53He'd be like, God.
04:54That guy's like 80.
04:56You haven't seen me have to bend down to get something.
04:58It sounds exactly the same.
05:00Yeah, I'm serious.
05:01Here's some sounds of Chuck bending down to get something at home.
05:09Chuck, you okay, man?
05:10No.
05:11Chuck?
05:11No.
05:12What happened?
05:13Drop the pencil.
05:20Slipped out of my hand.
05:25I could listen to that all day.
05:27I just...
05:27Oh, man.
05:29It's the best.
05:30I mean, he's fine.
05:31Yeah, it's okay to laugh, but...
05:33Oh, the rage off the top, and then the wailing moans.
05:36Yeah.
05:36It's like too much.
05:43I mean, I swear to God, I thought he dropped an F-bomb right at the beginning.
05:49I thought he did too.
05:49Then they just played it every time.
05:51I know.
05:52But if he did, they played it a hundred times.
05:54A hundred times he just played it.
05:58And I don't...
06:03I guess, um...
06:06Like, I know the story is he did everything he could to save these girls and whatnot, but
06:11I feel like the real heroes are these two guys.
06:14Yes, exactly.
06:17They were so calm.
06:18That man is gone.
06:19Kept it together.
06:20Right.
06:22No, that's...
06:24He's gone.
06:24And I swear he dropped an F-bomb.
06:26It took those guys a minute, though, to get off.
06:28Like, a few seconds.
06:29They're like, what just happened?
06:30What in the world?
06:33Oh, hey!
06:40Because he's...
06:41He's not really...
06:44I feel like he's not really there.
06:47Like, he's been...
06:48He's so in shock by what has happened.
06:50That he's just...
06:51He's just sort of along for the ride.
06:54Because they were like, please, please.
06:56Please, baby, please.
06:58Put your foot on the brake.
06:59And please...
07:00Little Wayne.
07:01I know.
07:02I know.
07:03Put your foot on the brake.
07:07Calm down.
07:08Oh, my God.
07:10I've seen people, like, get shot in videos and not have any reaction.
07:13Oh, I know.
07:14Yeah.
07:15This guy's like, mother, man!
07:16No!
07:18And he's going.
07:20That's the problem.
07:20Oh, yeah.
07:21It's ten minutes.
07:26And they're like, what the hell?
07:29Oh, that's me!
07:31Oh, yeah.
07:31Hit the brakes.
07:32Hit the brakes.
07:33Hit the brakes.
07:33Hold on.
07:34Hit the brakes.
07:35Hit the brakes.
07:36Hit the brakes, man.
07:37Hit the brakes, man.
07:39Okay, Mona.
07:40Hit the brakes.
07:41Okay.
07:42Okay.
07:43Hold down.
07:44Slow it.
07:44Slow it down.
07:45Oh!
07:47Okay.
07:48Slow it down.
07:49Slow it down.
07:50And that guy just grabs a walkie-talkie, like, hoping that he's got the CB.
07:54He's like, everybody, I don't know.
07:56Whatever the hell happened.
07:58Like, he doesn't, like, what's the protocol there?
08:00You just grab it and just start talking to the bus.
08:03And whoever dispatches.
08:06Help, help, help.
08:12Wow.
08:13Jesus.
08:14I mean, they are still moving, you know?
08:15The kids from the back of the bus didn't even come up for a concern at all.
08:19No.
08:19And they are back there.
08:21They've, like, blocked them out.
08:22You see, they put this up here so you don't see any of the kids' faces.
08:24So there are a couple of kids there.
08:26Bring it slow as you can.
08:27Just break off.
08:28Just break off.
08:29Just break off.
08:29You have to pull over and show those kids.
08:32Just break off.
08:32Just break off.
08:33Those two dudes are the ones that saved the day right there.
08:35Oh, yeah.
08:36They don't have any kind of prize to take home.
08:38Didn't even interview him.
08:39Oh, God.
08:41Oh, dude.
08:42Too much.
08:42Too much.
08:43Except sounds like me after Taco Bell.
08:45Oh!
08:46Oh!
08:47Yeah, a little bit.
08:49Oh, just how mad he was at first.
08:51Yeah.
08:51And then the pain.
08:53Anger and pain.
08:54Anger and pain equals comedy.
08:55Yes.
08:56Oh.
08:56Bet he's okay.
08:57Yeah, he's fine.
08:58He didn't die.
08:59Absolutely.
08:59Well, I did not get a loop.
09:00No, I did not get a loop.
09:00No, I did not get a loop.
09:01No, I did not get a loop.
09:02No, I did not get a loop.
09:02No, I did not get a loop.
09:02No, I did not get a loop.
09:03No, I did not get a loop.
09:03No, I did not get a loop.
09:04No, I did not get a loop.
09:04No, I did not get a loop.
09:05No, I did not get a loop.
09:05No, I did not get a loop.
09:06No, I did not get a loop.
09:07No, I did not get a loop.
09:08No, I did not get a loop.
09:08No, I did not get a loop.
09:09No, I did not get a loop.
09:10No, I did not get a loop.
09:10No, I did not get a loop.
