00:00Are you guys ready for Papa Roach?
00:03Here it comes, Jacoby, Jerry, Anthony, they're all coming out here.
00:05Make some noise for these guys here.
00:09They came all the way from Des Moines just to see you guys.
00:13We're here for the Catalina Wine Mixer, dude.
00:16What's up, guys? You guys ready to fucking rock?
00:18Woo!
00:20Man.
00:20Man, big news on the Papa Roach front, of course.
00:22The epic video just released.
00:24I saw all sorts of behind the scenes.
00:26Oh, yeah.
00:26Jerry's driving ambulances and everything is going on in that video.
00:30Yeah, I'm like fighting for my life.
00:32It's just a whole...
00:33Have you guys, anybody seen it?
00:34Anybody here?
00:35Okay, cool.
00:36For y'all that haven't seen it, just go hit that Papa Roach YouTube page and just...
00:40It's cool.
00:41We're really stoked about it, man.
00:42We spent a fucking, like, nearly half a million dollars on this thing.
00:46So we want to kind of do something that would seem epic.
00:49Yeah.
00:49And, you know, this song, even if it kills me, it's like...
00:53It just had...
00:54From the first moment I heard the demo of the song, it just had a cinematic vibe to it.
00:59And so when it came time for making a music video, we teamed up with our friend Jesse Davey
01:03and his partner Ed, and we worked with them again and just went for something that was
01:08just like, I don't know, like, John Wick meets, like, I don't...
01:13Something else.
01:14John Wick meets Kobe Dick.
01:16You know what I'm saying?
01:16That's what we're going for.
01:17And, yeah, man, it was a fun video to make.
01:20It really was, and we're very proud of it.
01:22Yeah, it's like a four-minute action movie, kind of, sort of.
01:25Yeah, I'm an action star now, dude.
01:27Yeah, right.
01:27Look at me.
01:28I think you fell out of the back of a school bus and everything.
01:30All sorts of stuff going on.
01:32I was bleeding from my art.
01:33That's right.
01:34I saw that, yeah.
01:35It was gnarly, dude.
01:36I, like, kind of jumped through this back window of this bus on this thing, and I just
01:41raked my hand and just all the skin on my middle finger peeled up, and it was just...
01:45I was like, oh, that's not what I came here for.
01:48This is terrible.
01:50Jerry, did you injure yourself in making that video?
01:53No, I mean, you know, I was just driving.
01:57Okay.
01:58I could have.
02:00Yeah, I mean, he could have just done that thing, you know, when you're driving sometimes
02:02and you think about just going, what if I just take the wheel and just...
02:05You guys ever have that thought?
02:08Isn't that weird?
02:09Like, isn't that weird?
02:10Every day.
02:11I could be having a good day, and I'm like, what if I just pull the fucking wheel all the
02:15way to the left?
02:17All right, let's not do that today.
02:18Sorry, don't commit me.
02:21Fert, don't let me drive.
02:22Well, let me ask you this.
02:24You guys just got back from Europe.
02:25Have you guys played this song yet live?
02:27We opened the show on our European tour.
02:30Okay.
02:30Yeah.
02:31Opened the show on our European tour with this song, and we really wanted to just kind
02:36of like, you know, throw it out on the chopping block and see if the fans dug it.
02:41We've never played it acoustic before.
02:42This is the first time acoustic we've ever performed this thing, and so this is brand
02:47new for us.
02:48It's like I'm standing up here with my pants down, and everybody's staring at me laughing.
02:52That's how uncomfortable I am.
02:53Let's make some noise for Bob Roach.
02:54This is song number one here.
02:55Is this a warning?
03:03Is this a sign?
03:04Should I keep my mouth shut and let you live a lie?
03:07Cause every day, it's a dogfight.
03:10I could see you piling up like a mile high.
03:15And I hope that you know when you're broken, I'm broken too.
03:19If you need me, I'll bleed for you.
03:24Even if it kills me inside.
03:27Even if you burn me alive.
03:30I carry that pain that you don't need.
03:33I carry that pain that you don't see.
03:36Even if it kills me this time.
03:39Even if I'm buried alive.
03:42I'll give my last breath so you could breathe.
03:45Even if it kills me.
03:53Even if it kills me.
04:01Is this a moment?
04:03Is this a time?
04:05Are you gonna wake up and realize?
04:08Your route is burning a thousand signs.
04:10But you're choking on the smoke from the other side.
04:15And I hope that you know when you're broken, I'm broken too.
04:21If you need me, I'll bleed for you.
04:24Even if it kills me inside.
04:27Even if you burn me alive.
04:30I carry that pain that you don't need.
04:33I carry that weight that you don't see.
04:36Even if it kills me this time.
04:39Even if I'm buried alive.
04:43I carry my last breath so you could breathe.
04:48Even if it kills me.
04:54Even if it kills me.
04:56And I won't run.
05:03I won't hide.
05:04Standing in the fire.
05:06I'm alive.
05:07I won't run.
05:09I won't hide.
05:10I'm not leaving you behind.
05:13Even if it kills me inside.
05:19Even if I burn me alive.
05:22I carry that pain that you don't need.
05:25I carry that weight that you don't see.
05:28Even if it kills me this time.
05:31Even if I'm buried alive.
05:34I carry my last breath so you could breathe.
05:40Even if it kills me.
05:44Nice job, guys.
05:50Straight rock and roll.
05:51No tracks.
05:51No backing vocals.
05:52Nothing.
05:53Just right up here on this stage.
05:54Backing vocals.
05:55Just stripped raw.
05:57That's right.
05:58Yeah, man.
05:59It's fun to do it like this.
06:00I heard you talk about that song and how sometimes, you know, you feel the hurt of your kids.
06:04And, of course, we both have sons and played sports and all that stuff.
06:07And I was thinking about this the other day.
06:08It's like you probably go to a bunch of sporting events with your kid, as I have.
06:11And it's like you try to teach them.
06:13But at the same time, they're teaching you about being a parent.
06:16Oh, yeah.
06:16Most definitely, man.
06:17It's a symbiotic relationship for sure.
06:19And, you know, my kids have inspired me to continue to chase after the greatest, most awesome, kick-ass version of myself.
06:28You know?
06:28Because I didn't have that in my biological father.
06:32You know, I had it in my stepdad.
06:34But, you know, I lacked that as a kid.
06:37And I know that, you know, I carried some scars for a long time with that.
06:41And I was actually talking to my son, Jagger.
06:44And he was like, he sent me a really nice text like a few weeks ago.
06:47Just thank you so much for hearing me out and being there.
06:50And, like, I really just needed to have that talk.
06:52And I told him, I was like, listen, man, it's healing for me to have these talks with you because these are the talks I never could have with my father.
07:02You know?
07:02And so I told him, I'm like, it's good for you and it's great for me because it's part of my healing, you know, healing that broken kid that's inside of me.
07:10And, you know, not that I'm, like, wearing that as my badge of who I am.
07:14But it's like, it definitely feels good to, like, be there for him, you know, when they're struggling.
07:19And, you know, it's tough when you watch somebody you love just get leveled, you know?
07:24When you get leveled on the playing field, it's like, you know, I got a message on the inside of my jacket.
07:29It says, don't be a little bitch, you know?
07:32It's like, get up, you know?
07:34But when it comes to life, it's like sometimes you got to talk it out.
07:37And sometimes it's like that process of, like, opening up and becoming vulnerable is important and it's healthy, you know?
07:45So there's a time to, like, pull up your bootstraps and handle your shit.
07:48And then there's a time to, you know, if you need to get real and, like, let the walls down, you got to do that too, you know?
07:52And so, yeah, man, long-winded answer to being a father.
07:55But, yeah, it's one of the joys of my life.
07:58Yeah, I know you like to talk about that.
07:59It's one of your favorite things.
08:00I'll tell you what, we'll take one question.
08:01Oh, one more thing real quick as well.
08:03There's a genre of music out there right now.
08:06Is anybody familiar with the genre of music or the style called baddycore?
08:09Anybody heard of this stuff?
08:11You know about baddycore?
08:12Well, guess what, dude?
08:13Guess who Papa Roach is?
08:15We ain't bad.
08:16No, we're daddycore.
08:18We ain't baddycore.
08:19We're fucking daddycore, dude.
08:21Get into it, dude.
08:22You heard it here first.
08:24Anyone got a question?
08:25We'll do one question here, anyone?
08:26We got one question.
08:27Okay, here we go.
08:27Spirit Box.
08:28That's baddycore right there.
08:30Spirit Box is known as a baddycore artist.
08:33There you go.
08:33Go ahead.
08:33How was the video shoot with Carrie Underwood?
08:38Oh, dude, that was awesome, man.
08:40We got to, we stepped in the studio with her and it was like, I was, it was, I was very
08:45nervous, right?
08:46I'm like, oh my God, like this is an American icon we're getting in the studio with.
08:50You know, don't act a fool, you know, don't make a fool of yourself.
08:52And I kind of like, you know, shook things off before I went in there and I was like, I kind
08:57of opened up with, damn, this is kind of like, I'm nervous, like being in the studio
09:01with you.
09:01And she's like, oh my God, thank you for saying that.
09:03Like, I feel the same way.
09:04And I'm like, okay, cool.
09:05This is dope.
09:07Because she was, we found out she was a fan of Papa Roach years ago.
09:11She was listening to us when she was in high school, you know?
09:13And so that kind of, that really kind of tripped me out.
09:16And to know that, you know, she was, you know, she's in the country world, right?
09:21And to be jamming to P Roach and be one of her bands that she listens to on a regular basis.
09:25I'm like, oh, that's tight, dude.
09:26So yeah, we're both each other's fans.
09:28And I got to see her live in Vegas and she ripped, but the studio was, it was awesome,
09:32man.
09:32She was such an amazing singer.
09:34She got in the booth and sang for like two and a half hours, just got in there and just
09:38ripped and just slayed and rocked it.
09:41And like took critique and, you know, constructed, what do you think if I did it like this?
09:46Or how do you want me to do this part right here?
09:49And so it was really cool working with her and me and my producer, Nick, we just left
09:53the studio and we're like, fuck, dude, that just happened.
09:55That was sick, you know?
09:57It was cool.
09:57It was a great experience.
09:59Yeah.
09:59Those American Idol people are no joke.
10:01As a matter of fact, last time I talked with you, it was with Daughtry and that guy.
10:04Man.
10:05Dude, so the first night I met Carrie, I invited her out to the show.
10:09Chris had come to the show as well.
10:11And I found out Chris was coming to the show.
10:13So I called him up.
10:13I'm like, dude, what are you doing, man?
10:14You want to like pull up and sing Scars with me tonight?
10:16And he's like, say less, dude, I'm in.
10:19And so we're like watching the clock.
10:21We're like, fuck, dude, he's not going to make it because we want to run through it
10:24one time before we play it.
10:26And he made it literally like two minutes before we had to go or, you know, five minutes
10:30before we had to go on stage.
10:32Jerry and I were backstage.
10:33We rehearsed it once with Chris and then went on and did it.
10:36And dude, he smashed it.
10:38It was so good.
10:39Well, I'll tell you what, I'm not going to sing it with you guys, but maybe you guys
10:42can sing it.
10:42Oh, you don't want to do a little Chris?
10:43I'm good.
10:43I'm good.
10:44Thanks.
10:45All right.
10:45All right.
10:45Hold on.
10:46We didn't rehearse.
10:46I'm going to moisten my instrument again.
10:51Yeah.
10:51Who don't like that word moist?
10:53What about ointment?
10:54Does that one get you?
10:56Moist ointment?
10:58Yeah.
10:59It's like I got to pull my shit together real quick because I'm about to sing some emotional
11:02and stuff.
11:04This one's called Scars.
11:05One, two, three, go.
11:07I tear my heart open.
11:11I sew myself shut.
11:14My weakness is that I care too much.
11:19And my scars remind me that the past is real.
11:24I tear my heart open just to fail.
11:29I'm drunk and I'm feeling down and I just want to be alone.
11:35I'm pissed because you came around.
11:37Why don't you just go home?
11:40Because I channel all your pain and I can't help you fix yourself.
11:46You're making me insane.
11:48All I can say is I tear my heart open.
11:54I sew myself shut.
11:57My weakness is that I care too much.
12:03And I scars remind us that the past is real.
12:09I tear my heart open just to fail.
12:14I tried to help you once against my own advice.
12:19I saw you going down, but you never realized that you're drowning in the water.
12:28So I offered you my hand.
12:31Compassion's in my nature.
12:33Tonight is all I stand.
12:36I tear my heart open.
12:39I sew myself shut.
12:42My weakness is that I care too much.
12:47And our scars remind us that the past is real.
12:53I tear my heart open just to fail.
12:59I cannot be fix yourself.
13:01But at least I can say I tried.
13:04I'm sorry, but I gotta move on with my own life.
13:10I cannot be fix yourself.
13:12But at least I can say I tried.
13:14I'm sorry, but I gotta move on with my own life.
