00:00:00The Disney mascot.
00:00:01Like Brett goes over to Goofy, draw up a play out of the timeout.
00:00:05Yeah, exactly.
00:00:07Ben, you're going to shoot, okay?
00:00:08That kind of thing?
00:00:09Yeah, exactly.
00:00:11Oh, boy, you guys have officially lost it.
00:00:13We're children.
00:00:14We're losing our minds.
00:00:15I'm sorry, Bob.
00:00:16Great point were you saying?
00:00:17I'm sorry, what was that?
00:00:17Nah, nothing.
00:00:18No, selfishly you said.
00:00:19Mickey, I want to see Pluto drop up.
00:00:20Would it make you nervous about them being in Disney Wide World sports?
00:00:23Have you been there?
00:00:25Yes.
00:00:25I haven't.
00:00:26Yeah.
00:00:26I haven't.
00:00:26Many times, yeah.
00:00:27Is it a tight layout?
00:00:30No, I mean, it's open.
00:00:31No, it's open.
00:00:32It's big.
00:00:32It's Disney.
00:00:34But, you know, I would just love to.
00:00:37I want this to happen.
00:00:38I hope it happens then.
00:00:39I just want them to be, like, by themselves.
00:00:41I want them to go somewhere by themselves.
00:00:43Guaranteed.
00:00:43Yeah, and if you're opening up basketball, that means the rest of the country is probably
00:00:47opening up.
00:00:47It probably means Disney World is going to be open up.
00:00:50So, you know, you're talking an influx of a lot of people rushing down there to get,
00:00:54you know, I just, I would rather, I would rather they be isolated somewhere.
00:00:59Uh-huh.
00:01:00In a bubble.
00:01:01Kind of, yeah.
00:01:03I mean, look, we're, this whole thing is going to get over with when we start trusting
00:01:07people and come to the realization, like, look.
00:01:09This is our new norm.
00:01:10It could happen.
00:01:10It's our new norm.
00:01:12Just try to be responsible.
00:01:13When the NBA says if there's a positive test, we're not shutting down.
00:01:17Okay.
00:01:18This is our new normal.
00:01:19It is.
00:01:20That's going to be it, right?
00:01:21Yeah, as long as we don't get to a point where we're worried about hospital beds and running
00:01:24out of those or ventilators like we were a couple of weeks ago, then, yeah.
00:01:27Yeah, you can't get flooded with this stuff.
00:01:29Now, I saw a story yesterday.
00:01:30They're doing work on Alabama's football stadium.
00:01:32Did you guys see this?
00:01:34There was, like, workers working on an hour.
00:01:35Yeah, there's an outbreak on some construction workers.
00:01:38Yeah, there was, like, 100 construction workers there, and, like, 30 of them came down
00:01:40with it.
00:01:41Jeez.
00:01:42Like, that's the type of stuff where you're like, ah, shoot.
00:01:45Don't, like, that's, you can't have that, you know?
00:01:48Well, okay, to go back to simply just opening up again, Ohio State, to go back to the college
00:01:53rankings, Ohio State is already proposing plans to have people in the stadium.
00:01:57Yeah, I heard 20,000 to 22,000 is realistically their goal.
00:02:0120,000 to 22,000 is realistic.
00:02:02However, if the rules are even more relaxed, up to 50,000 people in the stadium.
00:02:08Yeah, that's insane.
00:02:08That's a half full stadium.
00:02:10Yeah, I think they can fit close to 110,000, almost, like 107, 108.
00:02:14Yeah, in the horseshoe.
00:02:15Yeah.
00:02:15I've always wanted to see a game there, too.
00:02:17Yeah.
00:02:18There or the big house.
00:02:18I've told you, all my in-laws are Ohio State people.
00:02:20They all went there and all that, so they're...
00:02:22You gotta go.
00:02:22You're soured on it.
00:02:23Nah, Mark won't do it.
00:02:24Yeah, I probably won't go.
00:02:25It's like eating somebody else's meatball.
00:02:26No, I will go.
00:02:27I mean, but in all honesty, how am I going to go away during football season?
00:02:31Good point.
00:02:32Yeah, you could go.
00:02:32It's not that far.
00:02:33You can go on a Saturday morning and be home by Sunday morning.
00:02:36Saturday.
00:02:36Yeah, it'd be fine.
00:02:37Saturday.
00:02:37Maybe.
00:02:38Get home and watch Tiger.
00:02:39So there's a, look, there's at least a, it's a positive feeling, I think, when you're
00:02:45at least talking about having fans back in stadium by 20,000 fans.
00:02:48That's a good feeling.
00:02:49Oh, that's optimism, right?
00:02:51Yeah.
00:02:51I just want sports back, and I think everyone's on that same wavelength.
00:02:54You just want it back on TV, right?
00:02:56Baseball could happen.
00:02:58Basketball looks like it could happen from the proposal that they actually put out there.
00:03:01They're talking about all games being in Orlando.
00:03:03They're not talking about Vegas as much anymore, but they're talking about games possibly starting
00:03:08by late July in basketball.
00:03:10So I'd welcome that with open arms.
00:03:12Now, the other interesting thing is in the NHL, where they're talking about the Flyers starting
00:03:16up again and the NHL starting up again.
00:03:18There's a lot of, there's a lot of road work that still needs to be laid out here.
00:03:21Like border, basically players, not only, forget about leaving a state, leaving your
00:03:26country of Canada, leaving wherever you are right now to come into the United States.
00:03:30That could be a tough thing.
00:03:31That's a logistical nightmare, but they're talking about possibly two host cities, and
00:03:36they're also talking about maybe up to nine host cities.
00:03:40One of the interesting things that come out of all this is the Flyers are a top seed.
00:03:45Yeah.
00:03:45Flyers are going to be one of the four top seeds in this tournament that they would start
00:03:49up.
00:03:49The, the wild thing to me though, is that instead of just having those guys observe more or
00:03:55less a bi-week, those top teams, they would be playing during the play in games in the early
00:04:01round, which doesn't make sense to me in the idea that they're, they're considering those
00:04:08games literally meaning nothing.
00:04:10No, they can't do that.
00:04:12They haven't decided yet, but that means they're considering, oh, that would just be warmups.
00:04:16So the theory behind it would be that the NHL would be playing playoff games while other
00:04:22teams, top four seeds are playing exhibitions.
00:04:26I like that.
00:04:27No.
00:04:28How do you like that?
00:04:29No, you can't have them playing exhibitions.
00:04:30Because you don't want to go in cold off of a team that just played a seven game series.
00:04:34But why am I playing exhibition while another team's playing playoffs?
00:04:37Would you want to go, like, let's say, uh, oh, the Capitals would have a bye.
00:04:42They have to do with the middle team.
00:04:44They have to play something.
00:04:45No, no, no, no, no.
00:04:46They have to, those games, yeah, they have to play, but they have to.
00:04:48But like if the Flyers had a bye and you're going up against the winner of a seven game
00:04:52real deal playoff series, you want them coming in cold, not having played at all?
00:04:56No, we want them to play.
00:04:57Right?
00:04:58So what's the problem with the exhibition then?
00:04:59No, not exhibition.
00:05:00Put a seating on it.
00:05:01Put something on it that it means something.
00:05:03I want them to play a few meaningful games.
00:05:05All right.
00:05:06I hear you there.
00:05:06Yeah.
00:05:07Yeah.
00:05:07So, but I'm, if the option is not playing at all or playing this exhibition thing,
00:05:12oh, you got to play.
00:05:13Then I'm all for the exhibition.
00:05:16Yeah.
00:05:16No, I, I, cause they got to get their legs under them.
00:05:19They got to get, you know, the lungs is on under them.
00:05:21All that stuff.
00:05:22This doesn't sound weird to you though.
00:05:23That is like, it does sound weird and I'm playing exhibition.
00:05:26I don't know why buys would be on the table.
00:05:28Your playoffs.
00:05:28You're, you're playing the playoffs.
00:05:29I'm playing in the preseason.
00:05:31That's what it is.
00:05:31Yeah.
00:05:31But if the option is you can just take your buy and wait.
00:05:37Okay.
00:05:37I don't want that.
00:05:38No.
00:05:39Because then you're playing against a team that just played six or seven playoff game hockey
00:05:42or games of hockey.
00:05:44Yeah.
00:05:44You probably whooped.
00:05:47Maybe.
00:05:47We've seen it in the past.
00:05:49So yeah, I'm with you.
00:05:49Just do away with the buys then.
00:05:51Yeah.
00:05:51So I go, I would, here's what I would do.
00:05:54If you're having seven game series on the teams ranked five through eight, right?
00:05:58You have two series there.
00:05:59I would have one through four, one versus four, two versus three in three game series
00:06:05against each other for seedings.
00:06:08So, okay.
00:06:10So that way you can get a maximum of six games in that means something.
00:06:14They mean your seedings.
00:06:15If you're the Flyers, you're the four seed.
00:06:16You can move up to a one seed.
00:06:17And then, you know, the, the playing games, you're probably playing a worse team than you
00:06:21would if you were a four seed.
00:06:23Make like a six game total thing.
00:06:26You know, if, if both go three games while the other teams battle out a seven game series
00:06:30or whatever it may be, that's fine.
00:06:33I got no problem with that.
00:06:33But if they're playing, I don't want exhibition.
00:06:36I don't want warmup attached to the game.
00:06:38I want the game to have meaning.
00:06:39It has to have some weight.
00:06:41Yeah, absolutely.
00:06:42I think when somebody else is playing a playoff and you're playing a preseason, I think that
00:06:45just, it sets a weird tone.
00:06:47Especially in an empty arena.
00:06:49Yeah.
00:06:49Yeah.
00:06:49Another reason to motivate.
00:06:51Yeah.
00:06:51Exactly.
00:06:52So we're talking about the NBA.
00:06:54We're talking about a little bit more with Keith Pompey from inquire.com coming up in a
00:06:58little bit.
00:06:59Just told you about the NHL, what their plan is.
00:07:01The Flyers would actually get a top seed there.
00:07:03So that's pretty, that's pretty awesome.
00:07:05Can't really say that too many times.
00:07:06So what about baseball?
00:07:08I mentioned before in the dark recesses of my mind, if we get the NHL and we get the
00:07:12NBA back and then we have football, baseball doesn't have much of a leg to stand on.
00:07:16And that might be a sport that needs to shut it down for a minute to kind of revisit how
00:07:22they need to go about their plans, running the sport in a more efficient way, whether
00:07:25that be rule changes and the designated hitter, whether that be the wild and crazy bullpen
00:07:31idea I threw out yesterday, like this sport needs to change itself a little bit here.
00:07:35And this is coming from a guy who loves the sport, but realizes it's been on a decline.
00:07:39So when you look at those, those sports in general, coming back, I think the one people
00:07:44would miss the least is baseball, especially if you get, especially, especially right now.
00:07:48Yeah.
00:07:48If you get basketball back and you get hockey back and then training camp actually starts
00:07:53up in football, if baseball is to go up against two playoffs, their ratings will be in the
00:07:57toilet, the toilet, it might behoove them to shut it down.
00:08:01They should honestly switch to all day game schedule.
00:08:04If they have to go up against an NBA, NHL and NFL training camp schedule, Wrigley rules,
00:08:09basically.
00:08:10Yeah, seriously.
00:08:11Just play day games and your ratings will be great.
00:08:13You know, I'll play every game at Wrigley field.
00:08:14What the hell?
00:08:15Let's play two.
00:08:18Well done.
00:08:19Now, here's the thing.
00:08:21We let, we let you hear Blake Snell all last week talking about how he's not playing unless
00:08:25he gets his money.
00:08:25And we heard our own Bryce Harper say, Hey, great idea.
00:08:28Not the time to jump in Bryce.
00:08:30Charlie Blackman kind of got into this a little bit more yesterday on MLB network where he talked
00:08:35about this, where he talked about baseball needing to realize the state everybody's in.
00:08:39Here's Charlie Blackman for the Colorado Rockies talking about baseball return.
00:08:45Wait, who did you say?
00:08:46Charlie Blackman?
00:08:47Of the Colorado Rockies.
00:08:50Sorry, I had to set my, I lost my mouth.
00:08:52I can't say to not think of it.
00:08:53So I get it.
00:08:54Colorado Rockies!
00:08:55We're taking it seriously.
00:08:57We're doing what we can do to minimize the spread and keep people safe.
00:09:02And that's good for me.
00:09:03Like, I'm not, my biggest issue is I just want to get back on the field.
00:09:08You know, I think whatever the really smart people who deal with infectious disease, the
00:09:15CDC, you know, like all the people who are making these decisions, if they think it's good
00:09:19enough, you know, I'm going to trust them.
00:09:21I want to get back out there and play baseball.
00:09:22I want to err on the side of playing baseball and then taking it upon myself personally to
00:09:30be responsible for my health.
00:09:33Of all the people in Major League Baseball, that's the note you have to write down.
00:09:38That's the quote you have to write down.
00:09:41Forget about the money part of it.
00:09:42Hey, look, talk about that behind the scenes.
00:09:44Yeah.
00:09:44Don't let me hear you talking about that because believe me, that's fallen on deaf ears,
00:09:48especially right now with so many people filing for unemployment over the last two months.
00:09:51No one wants to hear about, well, I'm only going to pay you a couple of million dollars
00:09:54to play baseball.
00:09:57Shut your mouth.
00:09:58You're coming off as stupid.
00:09:59Charlie Blackman argued the point that I think most people would actually find to have some
00:10:04leniency in, not just because they want to have the outlet of baseball, because they
00:10:07realize there's still human beings that have to go out there in this job, in a dangerous
00:10:11environment and risk a lot.
00:10:13But they feel as if going out after a pandemic is dangerous.
00:10:16And guess what?
00:10:17Not newsflash.
00:10:17It is.
00:10:18So to have that in the back of your mind, why you're going to be in a locker room full
00:10:21of guys or a clubhouse full of guys, you're going to be on the field, you're going to
00:10:24be sliding into other players, you're going to be standing, you know, two feet from a
00:10:27catcher, three feet from a closer than that, three feet from an umpire.
00:10:32Like you're going to be around each other a lot.
00:10:35So these guys might have that concern.
00:10:36The only argument they have to stand on right now, the only leg they have to stand on is
00:10:40arguing on the behalf of safety, not arguing on behalf of money.
00:10:45Charlie Blackman just pointed out there perfectly for anybody with the MLB PA.
00:10:50That's the phrase that needs to be on repeat.
00:10:52What Charlie Blackman just said, because no one wants to hear about the fight.
00:10:55We're not naive.
00:10:56We're not stupid.
00:10:56We know the money is going to come into it.
00:10:58Right.
00:10:58But if your argument is more so about player safety, you would have a lot more people be
00:11:03on your side.
00:11:04Humanize it first before you get into the aspect.
00:11:06The aspects of money, which none of us can wrap our heads around anyway.
00:11:10Absolutely.
00:11:11Let's get Tay real quick up here.
00:11:12Tay, what's going on?
00:11:15What's going on, man?
00:11:16Hey.
00:11:17I just wanted to know, like, two years from now, what if Carson was giving us the same
00:11:22play?
00:11:23Not finishing his season, he's giving us good play, but he's not giving us play to get
00:11:27us over the top.
00:11:28Okay.
00:11:28Do you think it's time to rebuild?
00:11:29Because, like, we got guys like Ken Newton.
00:11:31He only had an eight-year run.
00:11:33Right.
00:11:33So I feel like seven years from Carson at that point.
00:11:36Seven, eight years like that, huh?
00:11:38No, that's the harsh reality.
00:11:40And say, thanks for the call.
00:11:40That's what, yeah.
00:11:42In two years, we'll talk about that.
00:11:44And in two years, if this same thing is going on, then hell yeah, you're moving on from Carson
00:11:48Wentz.
00:11:49You're talking about then a 29, 30-year-old quarterback with all the injury history?
00:11:53Yeah, no, no, no.
00:11:53It's time to move on.
00:11:54And they have a possible out in the contract in that same time frame.
00:11:58Yeah, in two years, I believe it is.
00:11:59Yeah.
00:11:59So that's not a mistake.
00:12:01That's another reason why Jalen Hurts is here.
00:12:04Yeah.
00:12:05I'm sure.
00:12:05Because in two years, if you want to get out, you can, but you need an option.
00:12:09Yeah.
00:12:09You are listening to 975, the Fanatic WPEN, Burlington, Philadelphia, broadcasting through
00:12:13the Xfinity studio, only from Comcast.
00:12:16When you have a basketball question going on right now in the NBA, as is, the man we
00:12:21talked to in Philadelphia is Mr. Keith Pompey.
00:12:23Keith from Inquire.com.
00:12:24How you doing?
00:12:26Hey, what's up, fellas?
00:12:27How y'all doing?
00:12:27What's up, Keith?
00:12:28Doing great, man.
00:12:29Doing great.
00:12:30Had these little nuggets dropped yesterday regarding the NBA and a possible return to play.
00:12:34What I saw was earliest, mid-July, they would start playing some games.
00:12:39Training camp, more or less, starting a couple of weeks before that.
00:12:42What are you making of the noise of what could be going on in the magical world of Disney?
00:12:49Actually, I'm kind of excited to get back to covering games.
00:12:54You've watched all the Naked and Afraid episodes.
00:12:56You're done, and now you're going to train on basketball.
00:12:58You know, it's funny.
00:12:59Now I'm starting to get tired of Naked and Afraid.
00:13:01Right now, it's like I've watched so much of it now, it's to a point.
00:13:05I mean, let me just fast-forward to the end and see if they last or not.
00:13:09There you go.
00:13:11So, but yeah, I'm excited about basketball coming back.
00:13:15And, you know, it's one of those things.
00:13:17I think, like, the timeline, like, we all kind of figured that, you know, best-case scenario,
00:13:24it would be July.
00:13:25You know, like a training camp in June, and then they get out there in July and play.
00:13:30Now it just seems like the question is, are they going to go regular season, like finish
00:13:36out the regular season game?
00:13:38You know, there's thought that they may play five to seven games and then go straight into
00:13:44the playoffs, or are they just going to go straight into the playoffs?
00:13:48So, you know, there's a lot of questions about that, but let's face it.
00:13:52We kind of figured they were going to come back because the money that they're losing and
00:13:57they want to get this, what is it, $900 million for the playoffs, like the TV revenue they
00:14:03would get for the postseason.
00:14:04Right.
00:14:05So they weren't trying to give that money back.
00:14:08Keith Pompey joining us on the Comcast Business Hotline, Beyond Fast.
00:14:11The sticking point for me, if I'm a player, and this came out last week and it was what
00:14:15raised my eyebrows, is that the NBA will not shut down if a player tests positive.
00:14:20Now, it might have been naive of me to think anything otherwise a few weeks ago, but when
00:14:25you see that as a player, is that the number one sticking point here?
00:14:29The fact that we shut down because some people tested positive and now we're going to say
00:14:33we're going to keep going?
00:14:35How does that make sense?
00:14:37Yeah, it's kind of, it's crazy.
00:14:39But see, at the one time, I guess the reason why they shut down initially is because they
00:14:45didn't know who all had it.
00:14:46I'm under the assumption that, and we know what they're going to do is they're going
00:14:51to test everyone and they're going to test everyone daily.
00:14:54So let's just say if one of my teammates get it, and then they're going to test me to
00:14:58see if I have it.
00:14:59And if I don't, you know, I'm going to keep playing.
00:15:02So I think that's where it is.
00:15:04But also, you know, it's also a sign of the times.
00:15:07Like, it's, hey, we can't do this again.
00:15:10We can't have a total shutdown again just because we're going to lose money.
00:15:14And when we're talking about losing money, it's not just the league, it's the players
00:15:19because it's going to affect the salary cap moving forward.
00:15:22And so I think they're under the belief that, you know, most of them are like, you know
00:15:28what, I may have to do this just to help out with my future earnings.
00:15:32So is it a good situation?
00:15:34No.
00:15:35But at the same time, you know, when you're thinking about future earnings, it's one of
00:15:39those things where, you know, I may have to go back to work.
00:15:41Keith, besides the health of Ben Simmons and from what Brett said on the conference call,
00:15:48I guess a week or so ago, saying that he believes he'll be OK, do you see any decided
00:15:54advantage that the Sixers could get from this break in the season and then resuming, whether
00:16:01it be right into playoffs or into a little bit of a regular season?
00:16:03You know, and I think we talked about this before, you know, I think that it is good
00:16:10for the Sixers to take, you know, time off and for, you know, Brett Brown and his coaches
00:16:16to huddle up and to basically see, you know, go over the things that weren't working.
00:16:21You know, the main thing, question that I have is, you know, let's see how we're going to
00:16:25incorporate Al Horford more.
00:16:27How are we going to create situations where there's more space?
00:16:31How can I take advantage of his strengths, you know, instead of having him being Dario
00:16:35Saris 2.0?
00:16:38But the longer that this break extends, to me, it's like my main question is, no matter
00:16:45what Horford does, no matter what you bring in Ben Simmons, no matter who your rotation
00:16:51is, it's all about Joel Embiid coming back in shape.
00:16:54I mean, he has a history of getting out of shape when they take a week off or when he
00:17:00takes a week off for injuries and always being out of shape when he reports to training camp.
00:17:05And now we're on 71, 72 days.
00:17:09You know, the biggest question mark for the Sixers is, what type of shape is Joel Embiid
00:17:14in?
00:17:15Because let's face it, he is the key for them to win any championship.
00:17:19The rest of the guys are bonuses.
00:17:20But in my opinion, you know, it's all about Joel Embiid and what type of shape he comes
00:17:26in when they start playing again.
00:17:29Speaking with Keith Pompey, Inquirer.com, just to backtrack real quick, you've mentioned
00:17:33the money with the players, you mentioned the money with the network as far as league
00:17:37revenue goes for playoffs.
00:17:40The players just started losing money last Friday, right?
00:17:43That was the first time their paychecks were cut significantly?
00:17:46Yeah, well, on the 15th, but what I'm talking about losing money is, you know, everything
00:17:52is kind of like tied to the salary cap, right?
00:17:56So, you know, I'm talking about moving forward.
00:17:59We can get it, they're losing money, but I'm talking about future earnings.
00:18:04Okay.
00:18:04You know, for instance, because like, you know, like let's say if you're a free agent this
00:18:10year, this upcoming year, you know, you're not going to make what you thought you were going
00:18:14to make at the beginning of the season.
00:18:16So, is it your best interest to come back and have these other guys, you guys come back
00:18:21and play just so you can salvage some stuff?
00:18:24Because if you don't play, the salary cap is going to be worse than what the projection
00:18:30is.
00:18:31So, that's what I'm talking about.
00:18:32Now, again, a lot of people aren't going to feel sorry for these guys for losing money.
00:18:37You know what I mean?
00:18:38We're talking, you know, millions of dollars that you still have left over, as opposed
00:18:43to, you know, the people that work, you know, around the corner from you who are trying to
00:18:47get unemployment.
00:18:48Right.
00:18:49So, I get that.
00:18:50But, you know, I think for them, you know, for their reality, you know, it's just one of
00:18:55those things where it just benefits everyone if they want to come back.
00:18:59Now, again, you know, and then you talk about a guy like LeBron, right?
00:19:03I'm just using him as an example.
00:19:04And I know people are saying, what are you talking about?
00:19:07He made over hundreds of millions of dollars.
00:19:09Well, with him, it's one of those things where, you know, when everything is shut down, we
00:19:15know he has a movie production.
00:19:17We know that he has all these endorsements, all this other stuff.
00:19:20Well, if people aren't going back to work, you know, the endorsement people are saying,
00:19:25well, why are we giving you all this money if no one's coming and buying our product?
00:19:30And then how is he going to get a movie out and do all these other things?
00:19:34Now, again, I know the average person doesn't care about that.
00:19:37I wish I had that problem.
00:19:39But at the same time, you know, we're just talking about how all these guys are impacted,
00:19:44you know, by not playing.
00:19:45Yeah, almost 300.
00:19:47Well, $272 million LeBron James has made just off his basketball contracts, according to
00:19:53basketball reference.
00:19:54Keith, we've used this phrase really throughout the season with the Sixers, and I feel like
00:19:59it's a fallback phrase, but maybe it applies.
00:20:01Maybe you believe in it.
00:20:02But the Sixers had their best basketball in front of them before the season was canceled.
00:20:07Did you believe that?
00:20:09Do you believe that?
00:20:10And do you think that they actually will be a contending team if a tournament does start up?
00:20:16That's a crazy question, because to me, it always came, like you said, it was always
00:20:21something that they fell back on.
00:20:24Right.
00:20:24You know, okay, they beat the Detroit Pistons at home.
00:20:28They had Joel Embiid.
00:20:30But the game before that, they lost to the worst team in the league in a blowout loss on
00:20:34the road.
00:20:35So it looked like a team that was, you know, still had a lot of question marks going down
00:20:40the stretch.
00:20:40Now, they did have an easy schedule, and where you think they were going to pick up some,
00:20:45you know, some games, some victories in the standings.
00:20:49But to me, you know, it's one of those things where, you know, they had to figure out a way
00:20:55to correct the spacing.
00:20:57They had to figure out a way to, like, you know, win on the road.
00:21:01I mean, there was a lot of unanswered questions.
00:21:05And I think that that's why a lot of people think right now that this, you know, this shutdown
00:21:10in the league kind of helped them a little bit, because it gave the coaching staff more
00:21:16time to evaluate what was going wrong.
00:21:19So, you know, it was one of those things when everyone was saying what they were saying,
00:21:24and we're built for the playoffs.
00:21:25Well, the playoffs is a slower game.
00:21:28You need spacing.
00:21:29You need guys to make shots, you know, and if you were just going to say, okay, Ben Simmons
00:21:35is going to play power forward, and we're going to run everything from the high post, and shake
00:21:40Milton, you pass the ball to Ben, and you spot up at the three.
00:21:44Well, as long as you can think you can beat teams doing that, then they would be successful.
00:21:49But if Ben Simmons was going to be your point guard, and you needed him to make shots, no,
00:21:56I don't think that the best basketball was ahead of him.
00:21:59And then, let's face this, like, it would be one of those things where, yeah, that tactic
00:22:04with shake Milton may work the first two games, but then all of a sudden, people are going
00:22:09to run people at him, and then you're going to have to come back and do something different.
00:22:15So, to me, I didn't believe their best basketball was ahead of them.
00:22:19I think now that they have a better chance, just because, you know, Brown has more time
00:22:26to evaluate and go over things.
00:22:28And so, we'll see what happens.
00:22:30So, Keith, we've questioned often this year, and not you, but us, about, you know, schematically,
00:22:36what is Brett doing offensively?
00:22:37And, you know, why are they doing what they're doing?
00:22:40And the bully ball never came about.
00:22:42And even though maybe they shouldn't have tried to play ball, but they're the ones that
00:22:46said it.
00:22:47So, my question to you is, so, with this time off, should the fans have confidence that
00:22:51Brett's going to figure something different out with this group that he has?
00:22:56I mean, I would hope so.
00:22:58You know, I mean, I would hope so.
00:23:01I mean, I think that, you know, the easy thing is, well, how do you incorporate, how do you
00:23:07incorporate, you know, Al Horford?
00:23:09That's the easy thing, but it's simple, man.
00:23:12I think that a lot of the Sixers' success is going to rely on if Ben Simmons is going
00:23:17to open up his shot, if Joel Embiid going to be in shape, you know?
00:23:23And then, right now, you have a guy, like I said, in shape, Milton, and then, but then
00:23:27you have to figure out what you're going to do with these other guys on the bench, you
00:23:31know?
00:23:31So, you know, Brett, I hope that he changes for his sake.
00:23:36I hope that he figures out, you know, a way to make all this work, but, you know, the
00:23:42thing is, sometimes, you know, as a coach, you get used to what you're doing, and when
00:23:47you start thinking all the time that, hey, you know what?
00:23:50I had injuries.
00:23:51Hey, you know what?
00:23:53It wasn't my, you know, this guy did this, and he made these mistakes, and then you start
00:23:58thinking to yourself, like, what we were doing was working, so let's not change it.
00:24:05We're healthy now.
00:24:06We're going to do this.
00:24:07No, he has to change his approach, and he has to change everything, and again, I honestly
00:24:13believe if Joel Embiid's in shape, and if, you know, they do whatever they can, you know,
00:24:18and he does tinker with some things, I think the Sixers can, you know, show us that they're
00:24:24good enough to beat a team that we thought they were in the preseason, but if they don't
00:24:29make any changes, and if Joel's not in shape, it's just going to be a lot of people sitting
00:24:34around and being disappointed again, you know?
00:24:38Absolutely.
00:24:39Speaking with Keith Pompei on the Comcast Business Hotline, Beyond Fast, Keith, what are the odds
00:24:45Brett Brown's actually returning after this, and how much will even a decent tournament
00:24:50impact his status for next NBA season?
00:24:53You know, that's a tough call, because, you know, initially I thought he wasn't going
00:24:59to be here at all, you know, initially, like, you know, before they had to think.
00:25:05I think it could impact him, and also not just because from a coaching, not just from, like,
00:25:13if his team does well, but also you got to factor in how much money the Sixers are losing,
00:25:20and does that factor in, you know what I mean?
00:25:23Like, honestly.
00:25:24Because you'd still have to pay him and pay another coach also.
00:25:27Is that what you mean?
00:25:27Exactly.
00:25:28Yeah.
00:25:28Yeah, exactly.
00:25:29I'm sorry for being that way, but yeah, I'm going to just that factor in.
00:25:32Like, because the next coach you get, let's face it, you're not trying to bring in a startup
00:25:38coach, like a guy like, hey, you want your first coaching job?
00:25:42Yeah, right.
00:25:42No.
00:25:43You're going to try to go out there and get, like, an elite-level coach, and these guys
00:25:47want to get paid, and they want to get paid more than Brett Brown's making that $5 million
00:25:51a year.
00:25:51Wow.
00:25:52So it's one of those things, like, what are you going to do?
00:25:54But let's not kid ourselves.
00:25:57If he has a disastrous playoff, or when they come back, nah, he's gone.
00:26:02He's gone.
00:26:05The money factor is going to be interesting if he does stick around simply because of a
00:26:09logistical financial situation, I guess.
00:26:13Like, the perfect storm to keep Brett Brown would be, well, we don't have the same revenue,
00:26:18and we don't want to pay two coaches.
00:26:20Good God.
00:26:20Yeah, that'll go over well.
00:26:21Yeah, I understand that theory, and I hear what you're saying.
00:26:26Keith, always great catching up with you.
00:26:27If not naked and afraid, what's the next show?
00:26:31I think I'm going to watch, since I take Jordan's thing, I think I'm going to watch it over again.
00:26:37There you go.
00:26:39You were that enthralled by it.
00:26:42I mean, you know what, man?
00:26:44We didn't have anything else on.
00:26:45Oh, I'm with you.
00:26:46So I looked at it.
00:26:47So now it's like, you know, I might look at it again just so I can, if there's something
00:26:52I felt like I missed.
00:26:53I don't know, dude.
00:26:54It's just, you know, I can't say it too loud because my wife is going to get mad, but I'm
00:26:59bored in the house.
00:27:00I just need something to entertain.
00:27:03You know what I mean?
00:27:04Keith, let me ask you this real quick on that subject, because I've heard some people say,
00:27:19oh, what did we really learn?
00:27:20Like, even if you knew every story, you didn't hear the story from the people who created the
00:27:25story, from the guys that lived it.
00:27:27Is there one thing in particular that really jumped out to you that raised your eyebrows?
00:27:30Um, how much Kobe is similar, how similar Kobe is to Jordan.
00:27:39Okay.
00:27:40And what I mean by that is, like, you know, you heard stories about Kobe terrorizing his
00:27:47teaming.
00:27:47Yeah.
00:27:48And guys not really liking him, right?
00:27:50Sure, in that regard, yeah.
00:27:52Yeah, in that regard.
00:27:53And so that's what I'm talking about, like, off the court.
00:27:56It's kind of like he gave Kobe a manual to being great, you know?
00:28:01And then here's something else.
00:28:02It's like, the best part about these series were afterwards, the day after, you know,
00:28:09his former teammates will go on, like, a radio station or go on TV, and they were very critical
00:28:18of Jordan.
00:28:19Like, a lot of them.
00:28:20Like, how did he call, he called Horace Grant a snitch.
00:28:23Well, he's a snitch talking about the things the guys did before when Jordan was a rookie.
00:28:29Traveling cocaine circus.
00:28:30Yeah, yeah.
00:28:31But so, it's, you know, it's funny because, you know, you realize, like, I don't know if
00:28:38these guys really like Mike, you know?
00:28:40But then the one thing is, you know, you appreciate it because he said, I've never had them do anything
00:28:49that I didn't want to do.
00:28:50And he did win six titles, so he might have been an idiot, an a-hole, but this morning
00:28:57I was, like, online just scrolling, and I saw four of his houses.
00:29:01You know what I mean?
00:29:02And they're all beautiful mansions.
00:29:04So, he did something right.
00:29:06Yeah, I hear you.
00:29:08Just last thing, Keith, the plan for the NBA, you think we, just if all goes right, coronavirus,
00:29:14assuming we do all right, mid to late July, we'll get some games?
00:29:20I believe so.
00:29:21Yeah, mid to late July.
00:29:22I believe so.
00:29:23Good enough for me.
00:29:24And then I think if it's mid to late July, I think we'll have some, we'll probably have
00:29:28some regular season games.
00:29:30Yeah.
00:29:30Right?
00:29:31And I think if it goes to August, if we have to wait until August, I think that they'll go,
00:29:36you know, straight to the playoffs.
00:29:38That's just my opinion.
00:29:39Okay.
00:29:39All right.
00:29:40Well, hey, say hi to that lovely wife for us, because she's just, she's an angel.
00:29:44And, you know, we hope to talk to you again soon, my friend.
00:29:47All right.
00:29:47I just hope she's my listener.
00:29:50See you, buddy.
00:29:50Thanks, Keith.
00:29:51Keith Pompey.
00:29:53Keith Pompey, inquire.com.
00:29:55Keith, Keith, Keith will play.
00:29:57He's bored.
00:29:59I don't want my wife to hear me, but I'm bored.
00:30:02How does she feel?
00:30:03We'll send her the podcast.
00:30:04Yeah, right.
00:30:04She might be equally as bored.
00:30:05She's like, this guy's watching this Michael Jordan thing twice.
00:30:08I've spent 20 hours of my life.
00:30:10Watching Jordan.
00:30:10He's bored with Naked and Afraid.
00:30:12Literally the greatest show title of anything ever.
00:30:13And he wants to watch something called The Last Dance.
00:30:15What the hell's wrong with him?
00:30:16By the way, finally catching up on Better Call Saul this season.
00:30:19Oh, okay.
00:30:19Oh, baby.
00:30:21That's a show for you.
00:30:22Let me tell you something.
00:30:23Yeah.
00:30:24Like, my wife and I, we didn't really talk about, like, we didn't really watch much TV
00:30:28together because I was working on a weird schedule and she had a regular 9 to 5.
00:30:33You know, things have changed in the last couple of years.
00:30:35We're watching a lot more TV, especially the last two months.
00:30:37I got to tell you, her TV taste, meh.
00:30:42Really?
00:30:43Unimpressed.
00:30:43Yeah.
00:30:44And something else I noticed about my wife that I don't like.
00:30:46I'll tell you this right now.
00:30:47Oh.
00:30:47Oh, wow.
00:30:48You're going deep, huh?
00:30:48She's a multiple texter.
00:30:50What do you mean?
00:30:51When you text me, I text you back with my reaction in a text message.
00:30:58Mm-hmm.
00:30:58I don't send several reactions through several different text messages.
00:31:03I'm a...
00:31:04I don't get all my thoughts out at once sometimes.
00:31:07That's what that little return button's for.
00:31:09Yeah, I know.
00:31:10Because when I look at my phone, I got 84 text messages on a group text and it's mostly
00:31:13her being like, oh, my, God.
00:31:17Yeah.
00:31:17Like, it's one text message.
00:31:18It's not three text messages.
00:31:19I'm one of those people.
00:31:20Are you really?
00:31:21Animals.
00:31:22Yeah.
00:31:23Barbarians all of it.
00:31:23Not like a...
00:31:24It's not like a conscious effort to do that.
00:31:26I just...
00:31:27I start spouting off and I get all hopped up on sugar and I don't know.
00:31:31Do you have more, like, ADD tendencies than I do?
00:31:34Well, I have ADD, so yeah.
00:31:35Okay, maybe you do.
00:31:36Maybe you do.
00:31:37Have you been tested?
00:31:38Have you done the testing?
00:31:39Yeah, when I was younger.
00:31:40Oh, really?
00:31:40Yeah, I was on Ritalin when I was younger and Adderall and then I just stopped.
00:31:43My parents just gave me espresso.
00:31:44Like, that wasn't the best thing for me.
00:31:45No, I'm just kidding.
00:31:47That's one thing I never did that I should do is do the ADD test.
00:31:50I mean, I'm kind of under the...
00:31:51I'm kind of under the assumption that, like, almost everybody has ADD to a degree.
00:31:57Yeah, but that's the thing, though.
00:31:58Like, how far along are you on that scale, I guess?
00:32:01Like, some people are like, oh, it's my anxiety.
00:32:03And that's legit with some people.
00:32:04Other people, it's an excuse.
00:32:06And that's the...
00:32:07Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:32:07It's like the...
00:32:08What do you call it?
00:32:10It's hard to quantify all these things.
00:32:12Exactly.
00:32:12Yes.
00:32:12And I don't want to come off as a jerk, but there are people that exaggerate.
00:32:17Yeah, like, my one buddy has crippling anxiety to the point I've been there
00:32:21where he's having meltdowns and, you know, trying to talk him through it
00:32:24and he's hyperventilating, you know.
00:32:26And if I have anxiety about, like, going to public speak or something,
00:32:30they're not exactly comparable.
00:32:32Right.
00:32:32Because that's nerves.
00:32:33That's being nervous.
00:32:33Yeah, that's nervous.
00:32:34It's like, what?
00:32:35More people are afraid of public speaking than they are death?
00:32:38Jesus.
00:32:38Is that right?
00:32:39As Seinfeld says, that means you'd rather be in the coffin than doing the eulogy
00:32:43at a funeral.
00:32:44But, like, that's...
00:32:45Yeah, that's something that's wild to me.
00:32:47How did we get on the subject of what am I talking about here?
00:32:49I have sad news.
00:32:49Your wife's bad TV shows and then texting.
00:32:53Okay.
00:32:54Do you have any other grievances you'd like to air about your marriage right now?
00:32:57I know, right?
00:32:57This thing...
00:32:58Diving deep.
00:33:01No, Bob, what did you have?
00:33:02What were you going to say?
00:33:03You have bad news.
00:33:04I got bad news.
00:33:05It just broke.
00:33:05What's the bad news?
00:33:07Aunt Becky's pleading guilty.
00:33:09Yeah.
00:33:10She claimed her innocence through all this, and now all of a sudden she's pleading guilty?
00:33:14Yeah, she got a deal.
00:33:15Taking a deal?
00:33:16Yeah.
00:33:18Becky's guilty of a crime.
00:33:19That hurts, man.
00:33:21I'll tell you, the crime that she's...
00:33:21She still looks...
00:33:22She's been guilty.
00:33:23Yeah, exactly.
00:33:24It's like whoever she mugged for the fountain of youth.
00:33:26Oh, my God.
00:33:28She's...
00:33:28Well, I hope it helps her in the clink.
00:33:31Hey, Becky.
00:33:32In the clink.
00:33:35The clink, Bob.
00:33:36That's what people with wrinkles use to describe prison.
00:33:39That's great.
00:33:39610-632-0975.
00:33:41When we come back, there's two things that we can examine with a return to sports.
00:33:46At the start of the pandemic, at the start of quarantine, I got to be honest, when it
00:33:49came to Ben Simmons' back injury, I didn't care.
00:33:52Because I knew whenever it was over, he was probably going to be fine.
00:33:55But there's a couple of silver linings we can take about a shutdown.
00:33:59One for basketball, one for hockey.
00:34:01That we'll get...
00:34:01Actually, possibly two for hockey.
00:34:02We'll get into.
00:34:04And also, coming up in the next segment, in case you missed it earlier, there was a
00:34:07wild story that Antoine Walker told on Boston Radio the other day about Michael Jordan working
00:34:14out with a 16-year-old basketball player when he was coming back the second time.
00:34:19When he was coming back with the Wizards.
00:34:22And who that 16-year-old turned out to be.
00:34:23Also, a little streaming event tonight.
00:34:26I want to run by you guys.
00:34:27If you would tune in or not.
00:34:29Okay.
00:34:29I think Bob would, maybe Mark wouldn't.
00:34:32All right.
00:34:33That's my guess.
00:34:34In case you lost count because of your own ADD, that was 17 teases.
00:34:38Before one commercial.
00:34:38Hey, we only got two seconds.
00:34:40Exactly.
00:34:40We got to get in as soon as possible.

00:35:01Adrian Wojnowski reported yesterday that the NBA is expected to start allowing players
00:35:06who left their team markets at the beginning of the pandemic to return to the team around
00:35:09June 1st.
00:35:10The specific set of guidelines on how players are expected to return has not yet been announced.
00:35:15Part of the league's migration back requires a two-week recall period to allow players to
00:35:19return and have time to quarantine before going into facilities.
00:35:23Followed by one or two weeks of individual workouts before having a two- to three-week formal
00:35:27team training camp until the season can get underway.
00:35:30With this potential format, games are expected to begin by the end of July.
00:35:35This update is also brought to you by Family Jewelers.

00:36:06It's all about being there.
00:36:08Day in, day out.
00:36:11Day in, day out.
00:36:12So to say thanks for being there, AAA rewards loyalty.
00:36:18Like how you get savings on AAA auto insurance just for being a AAA member.
00:36:23And when you switch to AAA auto insurance, you could save more based on how long you've been a AAA member.
00:36:29And how long you've had your current insurance.
00:36:32If you have both AAA auto and AAA home insurance, you could get even more savings just for being loyal.
00:36:39But your loyalty gets you more than savings.
00:36:43It gets you comprehensive help.
00:36:45Because when your AAA expert agent knows you better, they can help you better.
00:36:50Insurance that's not just insurance.

00:37:14Oh, hi.
00:37:15Um, okay.
00:37:16Guess we should talk about something.
00:37:18Kind of tough to be put on the spot.
00:37:20Not sure what to say.
00:37:23But I know what I'm definitely not talking about.
00:37:26Drivers who switched to Progressive could save big.

00:38:07Filled with all kinds of different people.
00:38:09And we all count.
00:38:11That's why the 2020 Census
00:38:13wants to make sure we're all counted.
00:38:15Why is it so important?
00:38:17Because the Census helps inform how hundreds of billions of dollars
00:38:20will be spent each year for things like
00:38:22new roads, health clinics,
00:38:23even more school programs.
00:38:25So make sure you're counted.

00:38:36I'll just work in my Speedo.
00:38:38No, you won't.
00:38:40Should we get our air conditioner checked?
00:38:42Good question.
00:38:43Can we get it checked?
00:38:44That's a better question.

00:40:20All right, I'm going to title this segment
00:40:22The Land of the Tease
00:40:23to make sure that we check off every box that we tease before the break.
00:40:27Now, Bob, you did not have a tease, correct?
00:40:29You gave it out.
00:40:30I did not.
00:40:31I said Aunt Pecky's pled guilty and my heart's broken.
00:40:36She got a deal.
00:40:38She's a criminal now.
00:40:39Actually, maybe it's kind of hot.
00:40:41She's a criminal now.
00:40:42Community service is what's going to happen here.
00:40:44Yeah.
00:40:44All right?
00:40:45There is an element of hotness increasing.
00:40:47You guys are so...
00:40:48Yeah, she comes out with like a teardrop tattoo.
00:40:52An ice cream cone tattooed on her cheek.
00:40:54Spider web on the elbow.
00:40:56What's up, Aunt Pecky?
00:40:58Aunt Badass.
00:40:59More like it.
00:41:01That Jesse Katsopoulos, man.
00:41:02He knew what was up.
00:41:03Jesse and the Rippers, man.
00:41:05They went there.
00:41:05They played for like Johnny Cash.
00:41:07False in prison.
00:41:08Nonetheless, that's a stretch.
00:41:10Sorry.
00:41:10Anyway, the land of the tease.
00:41:13NBA positive with the shutdown.
00:41:16Two of them, actually.
00:41:17Possibly two NHL positives.
00:41:18So that's four good things to talk about regarding sports and the return and what it could mean.
00:41:24Then I mentioned an Antoine Walker story and Michael Jordan.
00:41:27That's another one.
00:41:27And then Jamie has a tease right there.
00:41:29We're going to hit it all in the next 10 minutes, folks.
00:41:32Get ready for the fastest 10 minutes of radio.
00:41:34Here you go.
00:41:34First and foremost, the positive are two things that we got into earlier today, and that was
00:41:39Ben Simmons coming back and probably being okay from the back injury.
00:41:43We were told a couple of weeks ago, the nerve impingement's all but gone.
00:41:46It's just a matter of actually seeing him play, right?
00:41:50That's what the Sixers need to do.
00:41:51They've seen the workouts virtually, but seeing him, if they say on the grass, if you're Doug
00:41:56Peterson, on the hardwood, actually seeing him live and in person, going against other
00:42:01players, see how he gets through that whole process.
00:42:03So you would assume that this would be a nice step forward for Ben Simmons.
00:42:06We can all agree.
00:42:07It's a hold your breath step forward for the Sixers.
00:42:09Sure.
00:42:10Hopefully not for as long as you would anticipate.
00:42:13Until the rest of the season.
00:42:15Oh, really?
00:42:16With a back.
00:42:17Oh, damn it, Bob.
00:42:18I was going to be optimistic here.
00:42:19No, you can be optimistic.
00:42:21No, I can't, apparently.
00:42:22Sure you can.
00:42:22I'm not saying he's going to get hurt.
00:42:23I'm just saying that it's going to be in the back.
00:42:26Backs are weird.
00:42:27And they didn't do surgery, nothing like that.
00:42:29So, yeah, Elton sounded like he's going to be back.
00:42:32Brett sounded like he's going to be back.
00:42:33So, yeah, there's your positive.
00:42:34You're right.
00:42:35All right.
00:42:35The other positive, potentially even more positive because you have more reason to believe it,
00:42:40is, can we agree Matisse Stiebel was hitting that rookie wall?
00:42:43Yes, he was.
00:42:44He looked like he was pulling himself out of it a little bit, trying to.
00:42:47But here's what I know, and we got into this with my buddy Dan earlier in the show.
00:42:50So, it comes down to the fact that he was essentially getting a second chance at his rookie season,
00:42:55or he is going to get a second chance at his rookie season.
00:42:57So, he's going to have a nice shutdown, or he's doing the TikTok videos.
00:43:01Hopefully, he's not exhausted from that.
00:43:02Hopefully, he's not exhausted from posting embarrassing pictures of himself and Mike Scott.
00:43:05All right, fine.
00:43:07But you get a second chance.
00:43:09You get a reset button.
00:43:10You get to shut it down a little bit before you ramp it back up.
00:43:12And it's rare from what I've seen.
00:43:15When you come back from a long layoff, your offense, no matter how good of an offensive player you are, is rusty.
00:43:20No matter how good defensive player you are, you're rarely rusty when you come back.
00:43:25So, he gets his legs back.
00:43:26You're going to see that defense you saw at the beginning of the season, I believe.
00:43:28Two things to look forward to, right?
00:43:30Yes.
00:43:31Positive.
00:43:31Hockey.
00:43:33Carter Hart.
00:43:34Talk about a younger guy.
00:43:35Playing a lot of games.
00:43:36Had a lot of miles on him for this year.
00:43:38He gets a shutdown.
00:43:39He gets a little restart to a rookie season, a rookie campaign, if you will.
00:43:42Love to see a rookie.
00:43:43You know, inexperience.
00:43:44I'll say that.
00:43:45Younger guy.
00:43:46He's getting a little revamped there.
00:43:47That's a good thing.
00:43:47The other thing is, and I don't know if this is going to be the case, but it makes me at
00:43:51least question the idea of Nolan Patrick.
00:43:55Like, imagine you get that offense going with Nolan Patrick.
00:43:59Like, I don't, look, I don't know.
00:44:00I don't know anything when it comes to this.
00:44:02All I'm saying is there might be a possibility that he actually plays.
00:44:06Imagine getting him back in the lineup and things happening there.
00:44:08I'd love to see that.
00:44:09So those are four good things.
00:44:11Nolan Patrick, Carter Hart, Matisse Theibel, Ben Simmons.
00:44:14Then take it a step further.
00:44:16Take it to the next thing we tease.
00:44:17So, so far, check four boxes right there.
00:44:19Four things we tease.
00:44:20Check them off in this segment.
00:44:22Now the next thing is Antoine Walker playing with a 16-year-old and Michael Jordan.
00:44:25So I didn't know this, but apparently the LeBron James interview came out before the
00:44:31Antoine Walker interview.
00:44:33Bob, you had heard it, you said, uninterrupted.
00:44:35But I didn't see that.
00:44:36I saw the Antoine Walker thing first, and Antoine Walker talked about how he and Michael
00:44:40Jordan started working out together in the early 2000s to get Michael Jordan back in
00:44:45shape before he came back to play for the Washington Wizards, where he played two seasons.
00:44:49This was three years after he had won with the Bulls.
00:44:52So three years done.
00:44:54Comes back.
00:44:55He was what?
00:44:5538?
00:44:5639?
00:44:57Yeah.
00:44:57Something like that.
00:44:58Right around there.
00:44:5837, 38 years old.
00:45:00Came back, actually averaged 21 points per game in the two seasons he played.
00:45:03But when he was with the Wizards, was he a front office executive, or was he like a part
00:45:08owner of the team, and then he came back?
00:45:10I think he was part owner.
00:45:12Part owner, right?
00:45:13Yeah.
00:45:13Okay.
00:45:13So he comes back and he plays.
00:45:15But much like he did during the Space Jam time off, he got some NBA players to play with
00:45:20him.
00:45:21Antoine Walker was one of them.
00:45:22So he's on the radio in Boston.
00:45:25Former Celtic Antoine Walker, who, for the record, I always hated.
00:45:27But nonetheless, it's a good story.
00:45:29He talks about playing with Jordan, playing with Corey Maggetty.
00:45:32I don't know why that's the name that jumps out to me of all the names that he dropped.
00:45:35But Corey Maggetty and other NBA-ers.
00:45:37And one thing he said was Jordan never picked another scorer to be on his team.
00:45:41So he could work on his own scoring.
00:45:42Makes sense.
00:45:42Whatever.
00:45:43But he also said they invited this 16-year-old kid from Akron, Ohio, to play basketball with
00:45:48him who was supposed to be pretty good.
00:45:50That 16-year-old kid was LeBron James.
00:45:52Can you imagine being LeBron James, 16 years old, and you're on the court with Michael Jordan?
00:45:56No.
00:45:56Like, it makes me think of Kobe Bryant working on North Broad Street with, like, Mark Jackson and,
00:46:01like, Aaron McKee and watching those guys work out.
00:46:03And there he is at 12 years old.
00:46:04Or what?
00:46:05Being 14, 16 years old, however old he was, when he was beating up Jerry Stackhouse at
00:46:09St. Joe's?
00:46:10Like, think about those stories.
00:46:11That's what it makes you think of.
00:46:13I never knew LeBron was playing with Jordan.
00:46:15Like, that's amazing.
00:46:1637-year-old Michael Jordan playing with a 16-year-old LeBron James.
00:46:20And LeBron James did say, uninterrupted, that they treated him like a 16-year-old.
00:46:24They're like, yeah, you'll play later in the night, man.
00:46:26You just relax.
00:46:28So, is MJ footing the bill for LeBron to go out to California there?
00:46:31See, that's the thing.
00:46:31I don't know.
00:46:33I don't know.
00:46:34I mean, I don't think LeBron, well, I can't say 16-year-old LeBron didn't have money.
00:46:40He might have.
00:46:41I don't know.
00:46:42But, yeah.
00:46:43A little weird.
00:46:45I don't think they're going to Akron.
00:46:46I don't think they're going to work out in Akron so we can meet this 16-year-old kid.
00:46:50Yeah, I don't think that's happened.
00:46:51I don't know.
00:46:52Maybe they're in the same area at the same time for whatever reason.
00:46:54But, there you go.
00:46:56Let's get to our friend.
00:46:57Oh, wait.
00:46:57We had one more.
00:46:59One more tease.
00:47:00Jamie, you had the tease.
00:47:01Yes.
00:47:01You've heard of this film called Rocky before, right?
00:47:04Ooh.
00:47:05Deals with a fictional boxer from Philadelphia.
00:47:08Is that the one usually followed by Roman numerals?
00:47:10There's a couple.
00:47:11Okay.
00:47:11Yeah.
00:47:11Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:47:12I've heard of it.
00:47:13The first one is just called Rocky.
00:47:16He's a fictional character.
00:47:18He's well-known around the world.
00:47:19I understood.
00:47:20The guy that played that character is a guy named Sylvester Stallone.
00:47:22Yeah.
00:47:23Tonight, Bob, you're a big Rocky fan, right?
00:47:25Yeah.
00:47:26Maybe I might have overvalued your Rocky-dom.
00:47:28No, no, no, no.
00:47:28I love Rocky.
00:47:29Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:47:30Oh, my God.
00:47:30I still remember when I went to see it in the movies.
00:47:32I just don't like when Rocky is identified with Philadelphia before the Declaration of Independence.
00:47:35Yeah, I mean, it's a slight pet peeve.
00:47:37Uh-huh.
00:47:37Um, so Sylvester Stallone is live streaming Rocky tonight on Facebook, and I assume giving
00:47:44commentary and kind of insight to the movie as he watches it with people.
00:47:50Would you have interest in watching Sylvester Stallone narrate a Rocky stream?
00:47:56I feel like we got this in the 90s with, like, director's commentary on DVD.
00:48:01Now, I have to tell you, like, the Sopranos, Michael Imperioli and Bobby Bacala.
00:48:05Yeah, I want to get on that.
00:48:06Yeah.
00:48:06They're doing a podcast as they re-watch the series together.
00:48:10One of my buddies is listening to it and said it's phenomenal.
00:48:12Like, the insight they give you about the scenes.
00:48:15Yeah.
00:48:15Like, there was a clip yesterday of Bobby Bacala dunking.
00:48:18Yeah, that went viral on Twitter.
00:48:20Well, he actually played college basketball and could dunk back in the day.
00:48:23Oh, really?
00:48:24But on the podcast, he told the story about how they put a ramp by the basket, so he ran
00:48:29up the ramp, jumped off, and dunked it for the filming.
00:48:33So, like, you get insight like that.
00:48:35So, I would imagine Sylvester Stallone has some cool insight and stories about the filming.
00:48:40Uh-huh.
00:48:41I probably wouldn't tune in, but it's not because I wouldn't want to.
00:48:44Just kind of...
00:48:46Yeah.
00:48:47Anybody?
00:48:48I mean, that's cool, because it's not like Rocky doesn't have a huge audience.
00:48:51Yeah.
00:48:51I mean, it's one of the most popular movies in the world.
00:48:54The only thing I would watch for is I would stream myself back to Sly running up the steps
00:48:59when he does, because they're, like, right by my house.
00:49:02But no, neither of you would tune in for that?
00:49:04I, I, I'm, I'm not going to.
00:49:06I, I probably, but, no, if you said, you know, you got to do it or whatever, I wouldn't
00:49:10mind.
00:49:11Yeah, I wouldn't mind, but I probably won't.
00:49:13Yeah, no, I don't think I would either.
00:49:15And, and one of the reasons is also because we've heard through the years so many times Sylvester
00:49:19Stallone talk about how he put this together, how he wrote it, how he had to pitch it, and
00:49:24he did it all on his own.
00:49:25There's probably some cool stories.
00:49:27But there probably is, yeah, like in this scene, you know.
00:49:29Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:49:30Yeah.
00:49:31I, I will say I, I find a lot of comfort in whenever I see Sylvester Stallone with the
00:49:36fedora, the leather jacket, and the shirt, and he's like, yeah, he's throwing the punches
00:49:42to nobody.
00:49:43Like, he's just, like, throwing, like, keep his arms loose.
00:49:44Like, there's a comfort in that for me for some reason.
00:49:47Yeah.
00:49:47It's like watching Ken Griffey Jr. swing a baseball bat.
00:49:49So, you're not watching?
00:49:50No, no.
00:49:50Yeah, okay.
00:49:51So, we're 0 for 3 here.
00:49:52Yeah, we're 0 for 3.
00:49:54Mike in Delran, I know you're excited about the Flyers.
00:49:56What's up, buddy?
00:49:57Yeah, yeah, I am considering I'm not really a huge hockey fan.
00:50:01It was just cool to see a, it was cool to see an article where you looked at the top
00:50:05seeds, and the Flyers were one of them.
00:50:07I guess I didn't realize how high in the seating they were when the season stopped.
00:50:11I mean, I guess I'd have to ask, like, hardcore Flyers fans.
00:50:15I mean, what is that, well, how does that feel, the chances of them being able to make
00:50:19a run in this weird playoff setup?
00:50:22I mean, I, I don't know.
00:50:24I guess there's a lot of details to be worked out.
00:50:26But I, I would assume you'd have to like their chances, no?
00:50:28Oh, absolutely.
00:50:29And here's the number one reason I like their chances.
00:50:32Carter Hart.
00:50:33Yeah.
00:50:34They have a goalie.
00:50:35They have a goaltender.
00:50:36The home and away records for that he's had, I know we've talked about it a lot during
00:50:40the season.
00:50:41They're something that's somewhat concerning.
00:50:44However, when you have a goaltender like that, you know he can get hot, and he can certainly
00:50:49get hot.
00:50:51Yeah.
00:50:51Yeah, I'm just so excited to be able to watch the sport again, and it'll be nice to have
00:50:54one where I kind of feel confident in the team, unlike some other squads, like Sixers
00:50:59out.
00:51:00Yeah.
00:51:01Something tells me LeBron James wasn't worried about money when he was 16.
00:51:05I don't know if you guys remember him driving around in a brand new Cadillac Escalade in
00:51:08senior year.
00:51:09Yeah, his mom took out a loan.
00:51:11Yeah, sure, sure, yeah.
00:51:13No, I bet she did.
00:51:14I mean, I'm sure there was some kickbacks on the side, but on paper, you got to have something
00:51:19to live that lifestyle.
00:51:21Yeah, I guess.
00:51:22Do you have to when you're not in college?
00:51:25I mean, does it matter?
00:51:26I don't think it does matter, to be honest with you, because remember Monet Davis got like
00:51:30a truck deal?
00:51:32She did a commercial for like Ford or something like that.
00:51:36Oh, really?
00:51:36Or Chevy, maybe, yeah.
00:51:38An engine could have gave him whatever he wanted when he was a junior in high school.
00:51:41Yeah, exactly.
00:51:42Meanwhile, I'm 39, I'm driving around a cheap Patriot, you know?
00:51:48Yeah, that's funny.
00:51:49And I want to say real quick, and Mark, when we had that dinner earlier this year, I talked
00:51:52to you about it.
00:51:53I don't do this often, but I just want to give a shout out to a buddy of mine, Mark Barrett.
00:51:57Four years ago, he passed away, and he was the biggest sports fan I know.
00:52:01He'd be so pumped about the Flyers situation.
00:52:03He wasn't like a, he was a true four for four.
00:52:06It wasn't like one sport was more important than the other.
00:52:08That kid was diehard 365 days a year.
00:52:11We love and miss you, bro.
00:52:12Go Birds!
00:52:13Go Birds!
00:52:14And Mike, I know you're still listening to the show, and per our conversation that night,
00:52:18he's still listening as well.
00:52:20610-632-0975, and you heard every syllable of that.

00:59:40Mike, my man's hitting me up on Twitter.
00:59:42If you didn't see Ken Griffey Jr., when Ken Griffey Jr., if you're between the ages of
00:59:48like 30 and 40 and you see Ken Griffey Jr. swing a bat, if that doesn't hit you in the
00:59:52fields, like it make you somebody like, it doesn't make you feel like a kid again, you're
00:59:56not a sports fan.
00:59:58Like, that's the era.
00:59:59I agree with that.
00:59:59Like, that's the era.
01:00:00And he was the dominant player of that era.
01:00:02That, you know, back-to-back MVPs, back-to-back 50 home run seasons, you know, amazing, you
01:00:07know, catches in center field.
01:00:08Like, that's just, you know, I'm a kid all over again.
01:00:10We talked about this a few weeks ago.
01:00:11There were two players in my lifetime that I went to see hit batting practice against
01:00:16the Phillies.
01:00:17Ken Griffey Jr. and...
01:00:18And there was another left-hander.
01:00:19And put it this way, I had one of my kids with me in right field.
01:00:22I got scared for him because he was a little kid that I had to go somewhere else.
01:00:26Another left-hander?
01:00:28Barry Bonds.
01:00:28Yeah.
01:00:29He would hit home runs into the seats that I...
01:00:31It was like somebody standing in front of you throwing as hard as they could right at you.
01:00:35It was scary.
01:00:36I used to go down to the vet and we'd watch batting practice.
01:00:38And Barry Bonds was a must.
01:00:41Yeah.
01:00:41And this is when he was with the Pirates.
01:00:43Yeah.
01:00:44Like, that was must-see sports.
01:00:46Yeah, the first year the Phillies moved into Citizens Bank Park, Eddie Barkowitz and I bought
01:00:50a 17-game pack together.
01:00:52So we share games.
01:00:53And we were like four rows up in right field.
01:00:55So Bobby was a little kid at the time, maybe five, six years old.
01:00:58And I took him there to watch Barry Bonds hit bat.
01:01:00I'm not kidding you.
01:01:01I spent half my time covering him.
01:01:03And then when Bonds stepped out, let's go.
01:01:04Like, we had to get out of there because I was scared he was going to nail one of us.
01:01:08The furthest ball I ever saw hit wasn't even like a moonshot of a home run at the vet.
01:01:14It was Sammy Sosa.
01:01:15Yes.
01:01:16In the midst of all of it.
01:01:17And Sammy Sosa hit a dead center field home run at Veterans Stadium that didn't even like
01:01:23go upper deck or anything.
01:01:24It just was a dead center field home run at the vet into the concourse, like over the
01:01:31seats.
01:01:32Wow.
01:01:32Like, if you were standing dead center field, like buying a hot dog, you got hit in the head.
01:01:36There's no way you didn't get hit in the head.
01:01:37And I remember looking at that going, like, that ball's on a rope.
01:01:40Yeah.
01:01:40And that guy's definitely juicing.
01:01:42Like, that wasn't done.
01:01:43But, like, it was just the most crushed ball I ever saw at a game at the vet.
01:01:48But what we were talking about earlier today was mostly about Carson Wentz and whether or not
01:01:52he's a top five quarterback and Pete Prisco put out the top 100 players in the NFL, according
01:01:57to him.
01:01:58And I've always looked at Pete Prisco as the type of guy that without question is a, I'm
01:02:02right.
01:02:03You're wrong.
01:02:03Deal with it.
01:02:04And look, if you were going to, if you're going to have an opinion, that's going to go
01:02:06national, you better feel like that about your opinion, right?
01:02:09Just some guys tend to exude a little bit of humility with it.
01:02:12Pete Prisco is not that guy.
01:02:13And I actually envy him for, I give him praise for it, but he ends the explanation of his
01:02:18list with basically just that deal with it.
01:02:21Like, eat this up, right?
01:02:23He has Patrick Mahomes at number one.
01:02:24He goes through a whole list of other guys.
01:02:26Carson Wentz, not a top 100 player.
01:02:28Not even a top 10 quarterback in the league right now.
01:02:31I would think if you're doing this list, it's about what he can give you going forward.
01:02:36It's not about who's a Hall of Famer and who's not.
01:02:39I think that's obvious, especially when you look at some of the other names.
01:02:41Like, it basically tells you that Dak Prescott is a better player than Fletcher Cox.
01:02:45Like, that's stupid.
01:02:46Okay, okay, good.
01:02:47We're on the same page.
01:02:48And that was the one, Jamie, I know you took exception with.
01:02:50Yeah, Fletcher Cox is probably heading to Canton, Ohio.
01:02:53And I like Lane Johnson.
01:02:55Yeah, Lane, I don't think is the best player on the Eagles.
01:02:58I don't think he's the best player on your offensive line.
01:03:00Yeah, I think Brandon Brooks is the best player on the offensive line.
01:03:02Yeah.
01:03:03And I think Fletcher Cox is the best Eagle.
01:03:05I would agree with you.
01:03:06By the way, Aaron Donald was two.
01:03:09Yeah.
01:03:10I mean, he is a freak.
01:03:11I don't disagree with you.
01:03:13But like Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Donald.
01:03:14What?
01:03:15That's just a weird...
01:03:16Yeah, I would probably have Mahomes Wilson one, two.
01:03:17Yeah, Wilson was three, I believe.
01:03:20Yeah.
01:03:20So, like, it's a crazy list.
01:03:21But bottom line is Carson Wentz wasn't on it at all.
01:03:24Yeah.
01:03:24Dak Prescott was 46th.
01:03:28Six Eagles altogether.
01:03:30And not one was Carson Wentz.
01:03:31No, none was number 11.
01:03:33Do, do, do, do, do.
01:03:34Kirk Cousins was number 86, I believe, on this list.
01:03:38Again, Carson Wentz not on the list.
01:03:42I have him as a top five quarterback in the game right now.
01:03:44And I can't say it enough.
01:03:46I'll shout it from the rooftops until next season and probably even through the end of
01:03:49his career.
01:03:50Carson Wentz was more impressive to me last year than he was during his MVP caliber season
01:03:55in 2017.
01:03:57You got to consider who he had around him.
01:03:58And when you think about these other quarterbacks on the list, these guys had better weapons
01:04:02than Carson Wentz.
01:04:02The only one you could really argue against, as far as weapons go, was Aaron Rodgers, who
01:04:08also had depleted wide receivers by the end of the season.
01:04:10Carson was playing with the practice squad guys, literally playing with the practice
01:04:15squad guys.
01:04:16And he took this team to the playoffs.
01:04:18Granted, nine and seven, fine.
01:04:20Granted, they played against this inferior divisional opponents as the year went on to
01:04:24wind down the season.
01:04:26Yeah, but there are still divisional opponents.
01:04:28You still have to win those games.
01:04:29You still can only play who was in front of you.
01:04:30And guess what?
01:04:31You still didn't have a lot of talent around you.
01:04:33So yeah, what you saw last year is pretty impressive.
01:04:36To look at Carson Wentz from last year and not think he's a top five quarterback talent
01:04:40wise in the NFL, I think is ludicrous.
01:04:42What Prisco did was go by resume.
01:04:45And here's where you don't have an argument.
01:04:47If you want to argue Carson Wentz being top five, the resume is just not there.
01:04:51Like the rest, like the list of accomplishments is not there.
01:04:54What he could have done, what he should have done, what he would have done.
01:04:56It's all there.
01:04:58The bottom line is that old cliche.
01:05:00And we've been saying it all morning and we'll say it until Carson Wentz proves it.
01:05:02Otherwise, the best ability is availability.
01:05:06And Carson Wentz, if you, if you look at it nationally, not as a Philadelphia Eagles fan,
01:05:10the list of accomplishments isn't there.
01:05:12There's not an MVP, although he played a caliber season of an MVP.
01:05:16There's not a playoff victory.
01:05:18He didn't win a playoff game.
01:05:19But he hasn't really like gotten to the point, even the rookie year, Dak Prescott won rookie
01:05:26of the year.
01:05:26Now Carson Wentz.
01:05:27Now, what could have, shoulda, coulda, whata, would he have won an MVP if maybe Lane Johnson
01:05:31doesn't get suspended for 10 games?
01:05:32Because that's when the wheels fell off his rookie season.
01:05:35Then yeah, maybe he wins rookie of the year, but he did it.
01:05:38Again, shoulda, coulda, whata.
01:05:39Carson, I think it has to start this year.
01:05:41And we've been saying this, certainly we said it even last year.
01:05:43It has to start now where this either new style or new format for Carson Wentz finally
01:05:49bears fruit.
01:05:50We, we did do a Twitter poll.
01:05:52It was brought to you by Window Nation.
01:05:53Sam Wilson, go ahead.
01:05:53Give us the final on our Twitter poll brought to you by Window Nation.
01:05:56What do people think of Carson Wentz?
01:05:58Today we asked, in your non-biased Eagles opinion, is Carson Wentz a top five quarterback
01:06:02in the NFL?
01:06:03Yes or no?
01:06:03We had just sent our 2,800 votes and it was 50-50.
01:06:07So we don't get an answer today.
01:06:09Divided on the fence, people.
01:06:11Wow.
01:06:11Look, we're, we're way late for a break.
01:06:13We'll have to give you takeaways another day, probably tomorrow.
01:06:15We'll give you my takeaway is Carson Wentz is a Superbowl winning quarterback.
01:06:18That's a piping hot take time of the, stay tuned for the Anthony Gargano show.

01:06:39The Athletics' Pierre LeBron held a Q&A yesterday with the NHL's chief content officer, Steve Mayer,
01:06:46on the possibility of the return of their season.
01:06:49In the discussion, Mayer stated that if all goes well, the NHL and their players' union
01:06:53could agree on a return-to-play format within the next seven to ten days.
01:06:56In the case of a 2014 format, the Flyers could have a first round bye as the fourth best team
01:07:01in the Eastern Conference.
01:07:03ESPN announced that it has not yet been determined if the top seeds will have their own three-game
01:07:07tournament to shake off the rust.
