00:00All right, in other news this morning, a Florida man facing a felony charge for striking a Dollar Tree employee
00:10who called his wife a Karen during a dispute over grocery bags.
00:17Police were dispatched about 8.20 at night to a Dollar Tree in Clearwater following an alleged battery on the 20-year-old worker.
00:27However, Genesis Sanchez-Canales, the Dollar Tree employee, got into an argument with a female over grocery bags.
00:36They've started charging for them, and the customer was furious.
00:42How much are these bags?
00:44Aren't they normally like 5 or 10 cents max, right?
00:46I don't know, yeah.
00:49So they do this already in a lot of Canada.
00:51They don't give out plastic bags anymore.
00:54And so everyone has reusable bags, you know, those ones you can buy.
00:58But if you forget to bring them.
01:01Yeah, you have to buy a new one.
01:02You got to buy, like, and they're a dollar at least every time each bag.
01:06Oh, yeah.
01:07Because they're reusable.
01:08Right.
01:09Well, you said that Amber has a lot of these.
01:11She's got about 700.
01:12Yeah.
01:13Picture your plastic bags, but make them reusable.
01:15Oh, no.
01:16She never remembers.
01:17No.
01:17Oh, no.
01:19Ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever.
01:22Not once.
01:22Even if she has them in her trunk, she'll forget to take them into the store.
01:25Yeah, I was like that when I used to shop at the stores.
01:29So I go to Trader Joe's sometimes, right?
01:30Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:31People use the paper, right?
01:32They bring reusable bags there.
01:34They ding a little bell to let everyone know that you're like a-
01:36Oh, God.
01:37You're an environmental hero.
01:38I had no idea.
01:39Oh, I'd be like, don't do that.
01:41Don't.
01:42I'd burn the bag right in front of them.
01:43A bell?
01:44I see that bell.
01:45I didn't know that that's what it was for.
01:46I'm glad you said that, because if they ever did that to me and I didn't know, I mean,
01:49I might have like an issue.
01:51I might start to be like, what's happening?
01:54Yeah.
01:55We've singled you out.
01:57What happened?
01:57You're special.
01:59What else?
01:59So embarrassing.
02:00You've done it.
02:01Oh, God.
02:03In this corner.
02:04Well, I brought, because I had bags in my trunk.
02:06Oh, you had the bell ring?
02:08And they didn't ring the bell for me.
02:10Dave Hunter.
02:11There he is.
02:13Environmental hero.
02:14Saving the planet.
02:18They call him Mr. Earth.
02:20His wife has 700 of these.
02:24Yeah, I'm just trying to do my part to make up for Amber's lack of a...
02:28Yeah.
02:29I wouldn't like that.
02:31I guess the bell is not for that.
02:33What is it for?
02:34Oh, it's to call a manager, right?
02:35It's to call extra help.
02:36So I guess, like, they wanted someone to help bag mine.
02:38So you just assumed you were an environmental hero?
02:41You just...
02:43Mr. Ego over here.
02:45Oh, the bell's for me.
02:47I'm so awesome.
02:48That was me.
02:49I did it.
02:50That was me with the reusable bags.
02:52It was me, Dave Hunter.
02:54I brought them in.
02:55They're taking the bell for me.
02:57Could you even imagine, Dave's like, so, is that bell because I brought these bags in
03:03and I'm an environmental hero?
03:05And then the cashier's like, yeah, that's what it is.
03:09Wink, wink.
03:11And you're in a sweepstakes.
03:12Yeah.
03:13No, they did give me something.
03:15They did.
03:16Oh, here, because you're...
03:17Everyone is.
03:17Hold on.
03:18Everyone is.
03:20We want...
03:20Because you did that, we want you to fill this out.
03:24You're eligible to win.
03:27They did give me, like, a couple of little tickets.
03:31They gave everyone to us.
03:32They gave everybody, though.
03:34Dave's trying to strike up a small conversation with the people behind him in the room.
03:37Yeah, I was like, did you hear the bell?
03:39The bell is for me.
03:40Did you hear the bell earlier?
03:41That was for me.
03:41Yeah, I brought my overs.
03:43I bet you walked out of there feeling so good.
03:45No, I was embarrassed.
03:47You did.
03:47I'm not going to ring the bell.
03:49That's a real crazy thing to assume, man.
03:53I did read that.
03:55It was for a call of manager or help or whatever.
03:57Like, one ring means...
03:59One bell is for extra help?
04:01I don't know.
04:01There's got to be a cooler way to celebrate somebody's environmentalism than ringing a bell,
04:06because that's so confusing.
04:07You don't know...
04:08But you just thought that was a celebration?
04:10Yeah, you did.
04:11Andy, I said, oh, I...
04:13Okay, it was just the timing.
04:15Right?
04:15I had...
04:16I'm like, oh, I brought my bags.
04:17And she's like, oh, great.
04:18And then she went, ding, ding, ding.
04:20And then she's like, in here, this is for you.
04:21For each bag, she gave me a little ticket.
04:23I was entered into the weekly draw.
04:25It was the timing of it, yeah.
04:26So I just thought, oh, that means they're letting people know there's a reusable bag person.
04:29He's probably like, some guy brought his bags in.
04:32We don't know what to do here.
04:33Yeah, hold on.
04:34Ding, ding, ding.
04:35We just normally get the paper Trader Joe's bag.
04:38Am I allowed to fill his bags?
04:41Or do I have to give him our bags?
04:43We don't do that here, sir.
04:45Only here in Canada.
04:46Somebody assumes that that's a celebration of their environmentalism.
04:52Yeah, listen.
04:53I thought it was weird.
04:54Some guy just showed up.
04:56He brought his own bags.
04:57We've never seen anything like it.
04:58The story almost made me not go to Trader Joe's anymore.
05:02Sorry, I don't mean to.
05:02Yeah, I did.
05:03I was afraid of the bags.
05:06I was afraid of it.
05:07I was like, I don't want to ever be in that situation.
05:09You never know when you're going to be rung up.
05:12It is kind of weird, though, to just be like, hey, everybody in the store.
05:16We've got reusable bag bags.
05:18Reusable bags.
05:19This guy cares about the environment.
05:22You know who doesn't?
05:23You know who doesn't?
05:25All of you.
05:26Shame the rest of them.
05:28The rest of you don't care.
05:32But this guy does.
05:33Be more like this guy.
05:33Be more like him.
05:34Be better.
05:35What's your name, sir?
05:36I'm Dave.
05:37My name is Dave.
05:38We're putting his picture up on the wall.
05:40Reusable bag hero.
05:43He's an environmental hero.
05:46Dave Hunter.
05:46He's saving the planet.
05:48That's embarrassing.
05:50That sucks.
05:52Oh, well.
05:53I wasn't excited.
05:54I was embarrassed.
05:55I'm like, oh, don't ring a bell.
05:56Holly, don't draw attention to me.
05:58He put your head down.
05:59I'm like, oh.
06:00Your hand up.
06:01Come on.
06:02Please.
06:03I did not.
06:04Let's keep this quiet.
06:04Come on.
06:05I know I'm great.
06:07Let's keep it quiet.
06:08Such a bastard.
06:09I'm trying to put myself in that situation.
06:11Excuse me.
06:12Excuse me.
06:13And then I am like, that must be for me.
06:18That must be a celebration of my environmentalism.
06:22Probably.
06:24Probably.
06:27Probably 100% for me.
06:29I hate working here.
06:30I hate working here.
06:31Excuse me.
06:32Probably.
06:35Anyway.
06:36Environmental hero.
06:38We need to have a bell to hear the ring for Dave.
06:40We really need a bell.
06:41Oh, we really do.
06:42If I only had one.
06:43Too bad.
06:44We don't.
06:45Old Captain Planet over there.
06:51That's me.
06:53Captain Planet.
06:55Well, he's a hero.
06:57Yeah.
06:57He can take pollution down to zero.
06:59Yeah.
06:59That's true.
07:00For sure.
07:00Did you go home and tell Amber all about it?
07:03Amber, you know, it finally paid off today.
07:06I brought the bags that you refused to break.
07:09You know, if you would do this, you might get wrong a couple more times.
07:12But I'll tell you, I was a real hero today.
07:15I brought those bags and they rang that bell.
07:18Three glorious times.
07:20Ding, ding, ding.
07:22And I knew I've done it.
07:24Although I will say I've been in Trader Joe's a ton of times that I've never heard him ring
07:27a bell.
07:28So it would be unusual.
07:30Right.
07:30Yeah.
07:30I've seen it.
07:31I don't know what I think.
07:32I just don't think I'd talk about it.
07:35I don't know.
07:36I think I'd.
07:36I thought I wasn't bragging.
07:38I thought it was weird and embarrassing.
07:39You were embarrassed.
07:40Yeah.
07:40But now, you know, it wasn't about you.
07:42But now it had nothing to do with me.
07:44No, it was just a thing.
07:45This was really weird timing.
07:47Oh, I brought my reusable bags.
07:48Oh, ding, ding, ding.
07:50Here's your three entries for the draw.
07:52Yeah.
07:53I never have been truly comfortable at Trader Joe's.
07:57Really?
07:58I guess.
07:59It makes you uncomfortable there?
08:00I just feel like it's fancier than me.
08:03I feel like I feel like a scumbag because I get in the plastic.
08:06Honestly, I don't go there because of that.
08:08You know what I mean?
08:08Yeah, that's the same.
08:10It's not like a Whole Foods.
08:12It's like the everyday guy's Whole Foods.
08:13Yeah.
08:13Oh.
08:14And it's much cheaper than a Whole Foods.
08:17I just threw it in the same pile.
08:18Oh, you're missing out then because it's like good stuff.
08:21I know they have good stuff.
08:22Like, I've gotten good stuff from there, but I always just feel like I'm not cool enough
08:25to be in there.
08:25Yeah.
08:26See, I threw it right into the same mix as the whole.
08:29No.
08:29No.
08:30Don't.
08:30It's not the same.
08:31Totally different.
08:32Yeah.
08:32And the bell would have, like, really done it for me.
08:36I would have been like, well, I don't fit in here.
08:39Take it from Captain Planet.
08:41You can trust there.
08:42I'm going to go there now, and I'm going to, without them realizing it, I'm going to hang
08:47a sign that says Dave's Bell.
08:48Oh, okay.
08:49You are such a bastard.
08:50I cannot wait.
08:51Dave's Bell.
08:51Can you hang this in your store, please?
08:55Please.
08:56Whatever.
08:56So if you're at Trader Joe's and you hear this.
08:58It's always been mysterious to me.
08:59At first, I was like, so you go in there and you trade?
09:02You have to trade things?
09:04Yeah.
09:05What do I have to trade?
09:06I've always had a weird relationship with Trader Joe's.
09:09You need to get over it.
09:10I have a package of Dave's mints.
09:12What will you give me?
09:13It's a trading post.
09:18On that note.
09:19Yes.
09:19We'll take a break.
09:20Sure.
