Recommended tempo for this piece is 60 dotted minim beats per bar (equivalent to 180bpm, therefore the tempo needs to flow along without dragging, yet at the same time not sound too rushed. Although the exam books states that students may wish to play at a slower tempo, such as 44 mimic beats bar bar. (such as 132 crotchet beats per bar)
This piece is mainly to be played legato, and sustain pedalling is encouraged and dynamics are straightforward, but watch out for the “D.S. al Fine” at the bottom of p2 which means repeat again from the start of page 1. (The 3rd note - right hand mimim E, to be precise!) The music finally ends at the bottom of p1, on the 2nd time (final) bar. Effectively this is a three-page long piece!
