00:02MXGP qualifier em race win
00:04MXGP qualifier em race
00:08I should say
00:09Gates about to drop
00:14here in Cranfeld
00:15Fevra
00:18messing up, coming out of the start
00:19those inside gates very tight
00:21but Hurlings, oh he tips his way through there
00:23he comes out in about third position
00:25Fevra with some work to do though
00:29but it's
00:33Fernandes who leads, Renault almost
00:35unseeks himself
00:37but Reva Fernandes
00:39says he can get a good start from anywhere and that's exactly
00:41what he's done, Geoffrey Hurling's there in second
00:43Lupino in third
00:45on the Ducati, about 3-4 positions
00:51further back is number 91 team mate
00:53so it's Fernandes who leads
00:55Geoffrey Hurling's in second
00:57Alessandro Lupino is third
00:59Bonacorsi fourth, the lead Fantic rider
01:01Maxime Renault's fifth on the Yamaha
01:03fans on their feet
01:08Tonus in their in tenth position
01:13Guillaume in thirteenth
01:14but Siwa in around about sort of seventh or eighth place
01:19as Hurlings just struggles out of that left hand
01:22Maxime Renault already eyeing up
01:24a run through, oh I tell you what that was very close between those two
01:27as they hit the step up there
01:30see how rutty and rugged the circuit is
01:34right at the end of the day's riding here
01:36Geiser
01:39quick to make inroads
01:41he's already up past
01:42a couple of riders, a few riders
01:44Lupino being one of them
01:45and Geiser now already up into fourth place
01:52trying to latch on behind the rider in red
01:56ahead of him with the yellow numbers
01:57Maxime Renault
01:58changing all the time on this opening lap
02:02that's one thing we've seen from Tim Geiser
02:04so far this year and he does it again
02:05sides his way down the inside
02:07his opening lap speed
02:09absolutely electric
02:10Geiser now goes after Hurlings
02:18Tim Geiser
02:22opening lap
02:24putting himself
02:26right in the mix early on
02:28front end almost gets away from him there though
02:32Siwa tipping in
02:33in eighth place
02:34Koldenhoff nine
02:35Guillaume up into tenth
02:36a good bright start
02:37for the man in yellow
02:38just behind him
02:42Arno Tonis
02:43another top legendary Swiss rider
02:46Fevre in twelfth
02:48Vallandre in thirteen
02:51then we've got Kock
02:51Horgmo
02:52Panzer
02:52Bogers
02:53Yitz
02:54we did have Papp
02:56he's lost a couple of positions
02:57a bit cleaner through there this time
03:05for the number 84
03:06guys are going a little bit higher and wider but that's where a lot of those bumps are
03:15also got on the takeoff on that section
03:18a horrible little knuckle lip
03:20that if you don't get that right
03:22you end up sort of endowing into the uphill
03:25rather than jumping up and sort of landing wheels
03:28you don't really need to sort of dip the front too much there
03:31anyway Fernandez almost two seconds clear of these two five-time world champions
03:40Jeffrey Herlings and Tim Geisser
03:42Geisser very much the man on form at the moment though
03:45with the 39th point at the top of the championship standings over Roma Fevre
03:48good test of the mind though for Herlings you imagine
03:56being up there in that second place
03:59in good time
03:59practice time as well
04:01fourth gaping for the qualifying race
04:03sandwiched between the two HRC Hondas
04:07Herlings goes defensive
04:11comes out nice and clean
04:13Geisser was looking to run it around the outside
04:16but the pass came to no avail
04:18Guilla up to 9th now
04:20he's found his way past the Hoff
04:21so balancing Guillaume
04:24giving the fans what they came to see
04:26and so too Tim Geisser
04:30outside inside combo up into second
04:33Jeffrey Herlings now will be looking to try and learn as much as he can
04:42about line choice around this racetrack fans
04:45Fernandes was the
04:50whoa I'll tell you what
04:51that was a cheeky line wasn't it
04:53I think he just got kicked over to the left
04:55fortunately he landed over the top blocks there
04:57Tim Geisser
04:58don't want to be casing those on the uphill
05:01they're not the kind of lines that
05:03Herlings wants to be looking at
05:07Maximo Renaud just behind him in fourth place
05:08good bright start for Alessandro Lupino as well
05:15in for Mattia Guadagnini
05:17finds himself in fifth
05:18normally find him riding a
05:20a 250 Ducati at the moment
05:23right Guillaume and Fevre
05:25down past pit lane
05:31Valentin Guillaume got his hands full here
05:33in ninth
05:34Roman Fevre trying to find a way past after his poor start
05:38the Swiss cheese keeping the
05:41the Frenchie at bay at the moment
05:44on the number 92
05:45Vans will roar as he goes by
05:48completes another lap
05:50Valentin Guillaume
05:52doubles his way neatly through there
05:55he's got Siwa so the 91 and the 92
05:58line of stern occupying positions eight and nine
06:01on the track
06:02hesitant through that turn
06:05that will allow Roman Fevre
06:08to muscle his way down the inside
06:09he does he spits he splits the two Swiss riders
06:13Fevre now up into ninth place
06:17still considering where he was a week ago
06:28Valentin Guillaume good to see up there
06:31at the sharp end
06:33inside
06:39that top ten
06:42in tenth place
06:45if he stays there that'll be his best qualifying position of the season
06:56got 11th in Argentina at the opening round remember
06:58still plenty of time left though
07:02to determine that outcome
07:04Fernandez and Gaisa
07:06two great starts from the Honda HRC riders
07:10Erling's about four seconds further back
07:16but Gaisa getting this gap down to
07:19nine tenths of a second
07:20with the fastest lap of the race
07:21on lap four
07:23jumping a little bit longer
07:28going a little bit wider
07:33smoother on the exit but
07:36there's going to be no way through at the end of this turn
07:38end of this straight into that turn
07:43Gaisa looking good though isn't he
07:46looking on it
07:47Fevre
07:48still in ninth
07:50trying to figure out
07:51Jeremy Siwa
07:52and he holds a nice tight line
07:55the two riders almost come together mid-air
07:57maybe look closer than it actually was
07:59Siwa
08:03good speed through that right-hander
08:06Renault
08:08down the inside of Erling's
08:10moves up into third
08:11Erling's looking to respond immediately
08:15but you see the difference in two lines there
08:21there's a lot of
08:23there's a lot of
08:25Fever
08:25lying up
08:26Jeremy Siwa
08:27sticky route through here
08:32Fever very efficient through there up on the pegs
08:36not getting bogged down with those deep ruts
08:38and again here
08:39different line choice here is going to open up this corner at the bottom of the hill
08:42I'll open up this corner at the bottom of the hill
08:48cuts across neatly
08:50just out riding Jeremy Searer at the moment
08:52but Searer still holds firm
08:53holds that 8th place
08:55you think FGW Championship points
08:57Tip Geister at the moment 9 points
08:59for that 2nd position
09:01Romain Fevre in 9th
09:03just picking up 2 points
09:05and the gap was 39
09:07coming in to this qualifying race
09:09between 1st place Geister
09:11Gaisa, está na sua forma, pesta-team-mate
09:18Not yet
09:21Fernandes making him work hard for it
09:28Smooth outside line, hard on the brakes
09:33Nicely done from Gaisa
09:37Just pointed and squirted, didn't mean coming out of that turn
09:40Just came to a complete start, but Fernandes still gets the run on him
09:44Down the back straight, still holds on to that lead
09:47Yeah, he couldn't get the distance there either, could he
09:55Tim Gaisa, the rider in second position
09:57Renault still third, about eight seconds further back
10:02Then fourth place Hurlings, nearly three seconds adrift
10:05Lupino still hanging on in fifth place
10:07On the Ducati
10:08Bonacorsi six, Lukas Kunin seven, Siwa eight, Vevra nine, Gio ten
10:12They are your top ten point scorers as we stand right now
10:16Koldanov closing in on Gio though
10:19Hiring him up for his own world championship
10:22Pie, his own piece of the cheese
10:24Right, Vevra down the inside of Jeremy Siwa
10:40Hits the brakes, flies by, Vevra nap to eight
10:44Fevra nap to eight
10:46Last couple of laps Geis has gone right side, left side
10:54On that straight, either way it's brought him to the outside line
10:58In that left-hander, turn five
11:00How good is this from Ruben Fernandez though, nine minutes to go
11:06Fernandez at the moment had a couple of third place finishes back to back
11:12In uh, Saint-Jean and Sardinia
11:22Didn't get a qualifying race win last year
11:24I'm saying he's not going to get one here today either
11:26But in the greater scheme of things if you can pull it off here
11:32Ruben Fernandez did manage to uh, bag a quali win in Portugal round five back in 2023
11:41It's only one of the season
11:50See the rocks just on the face of that monster jump over on the right side, middle right
11:56Not saying he's out of options at the moment, Tim Geiser, but maybe just taking a breather thinking, okay
12:08Ruben Fernandez, my teammate, is putting up a bit of a fight here, wants those 10 championship points
12:14Started 16 behind Maxime Renault
12:18Renault third
12:20Look at the battle going on here
12:22Romain Fevra bottom of the screen, Lucas Kuhnen ahead of him
12:24And Bonacorsi in the left-hander now mid-turn
12:32And then Lupino under the foxhole shot line
12:36But as we hit the line, Hurlings, Lupino, Bonacorsi, Lucas Kuhnen, Romain Fevra
12:41They are the five riders going into that left-hand turn now
12:47Let out by Hurlings in that fourth position
12:53Fevra looking to go long
12:54Didn't get the best gate, he had a good gate choice, just maybe didn't get the gate, the best gate drop
13:07Messed up
13:07And he'll be kicking himself now because now he's in this gaggle of riders that
13:13Seem to just be holding him up, there's Lupino on the 177
13:16And Bonacorsi, meanwhile the two Hondas at the head of the field
13:20Still let out by Ruben Fernandes
13:23Geiser, he just senses, just turn the screw a little bit here, he's up the ante
13:32Not of the Piranen kind
13:36Just turn the screw
13:37Again, not too much opportunity through this sort of left, right, down past pit lane
13:47If you get a good run through the next turn though, you could set yourself up
13:51But Geiser not close enough
13:54So again
13:56Fernandes should come out of these next couple of lines, next couple of turns
14:01With the advantage, eight laps at the head of the field
14:03Andrea Bonacorsi
14:11Looking to go outside, inside
14:13Moves up into fifth place
14:15With that move on the Italian Bonacorsi, on the Lupino
14:33Robert Fevre making more inroads as well
14:38As Geiser thinks about ironing up his teammates once more
14:41Oh, and he gets better drive this time around, or does he?
14:44Is it camera trickery?
14:48Fernandes will close him down just like he did a couple of laps ago
14:52Fevre's up to seventh, he's found his way, pass Lucas Coonan
15:02And here's how he does it
15:05Look at that, just set him up nicely
15:08Coonan just got spooked there, just drifted outside of the line, then tightened everything up
15:12An easy pass for Fevre as he moves into sixth
15:15Therefore all over the back of Lupino as well a moment ago, in fact he's already gone by him into sixth place
15:28So once he found his way past Siwa, that was it, the floodgates have opened
15:32Before the number three he's got Bonacorsi about a second ahead of him and then hurlings not much further up the track either
15:37Another cool, patient pull of the tear off there, as he regroups again Tim Geiser
15:49Wondering what do I do about the problem, that is my teammate Ruben Fernandes at the moment
15:57Siwa 9, Guillo 10, Koldenhoff 11, Villanoff 12, Hornwell, Panza, Tonus
16:02Another Swiss there in 15th place, he'll be pleased with that, his first major race of the year
16:07Then Watson in 17th, here it's 18th, Brumman
16:11That'll be good for Kevin Brumman as well
16:16Though he did get 15th in Coonan, slightly different conditions
16:20He's 18th at the moment, here it's in Van Amosteich
16:27Traffic on the horizon
16:28119, Nicholas Bender
16:39Ah, he didn't get good drive there did he Fernandes, but Geiser wasn't sure what was going to happen
16:43So he just opted to jump short
16:47Panic rev mode from Geiser
16:50A little bit of Maxime Renault treatment there, a bit of frustration from the Slovenian
16:54And it's a race that he doesn't want actually because he's exuding unnecessary energy trying to find his way past his Spanish teammate
17:03Who is in a championship all on his own as well, he's sixth place in the standings at the moment
17:08He needs every single point he can get as well
17:13Three minutes plus two laps to go, Fernandes still leads
17:16His teammate Tim Geiser
17:18A man with a few titles
17:24In his back pocket
17:27Quite a few GP wins as well
17:28And Fevre continues to climb again, he's now up in the fifth
17:34He's found his way past Bonacorsi
17:38He's going to cut to the inside here, no, stays wide, easy move for Fevre
17:44As he moves up in the fifth
17:45And his order
17:48And Hurlings has immediately been caught by the Frenchman
17:52This is for fourth place
18:01Turn a negative into a positive, that's exactly what Roman Fevre has done
18:04Made a bad start
18:05Buried outside of the top 10 or 15 on the opening lap
18:08Passes in quick succession
18:10Found his way past Jeremy Siwa
18:11And all of a sudden he's challenging Jeffrey Hurlings for fourth place
18:15That's probably as good as he's going to get though
18:17Because nine seconds further up the track is Maxime Renault
18:21So with two minutes plus two laps to go, it's not going to happen
18:24But he's going to be picking up some points in the process
18:29And as long as Fernandes stays ahead of his Tim Geiser
18:32It's not going to be maximum points for Geiser either
18:36So another bonus for the Frenchie
18:45Oh, nicely done but again, can't quite find the perfect line there out of that turn
18:51Fevre
18:52He's been good around this part of the race track though, hasn't he?
18:56Made some time, made some passes
18:57He'll do the same again here, goes in slightly tighter, gets good drive
19:02And he'll find his way past Hurlings, exactly the same way that he found his way past Bonacorsi
19:07And moves up into fourth place
19:13Hurlings a nervous look over the shoulder thinking, okay, where's the next rider?
19:17Can I hang on to this fifth place now?
19:19And that'll be a much needed gate pick
19:27Twice, 22nd
19:30Right, Fevre over on the left side, as we look down
19:34A little bit skew-whiff as he came out of the gate look
19:38And he was tucking his way onto the inside, managed to force his way through
19:42But it was Fernandes who came out on top, ahead of Maxime Renault
19:45Over on the right hand side look, that's where the number three was, took it on the inside
19:53Came out mid-pack
19:57Watch this, there, just as he hit the other side of the plate
20:02Wasn't straight, back end's gone out on him
20:06So even better than when you see it from that angle, especially the drone
20:09Eight seconds down, almost identical lap times between him and fellow Frenchman, Maxime Renault
20:21Fernandes, you know, he's opened up 2.6 seconds
20:24With, uh, they've gone through
20:26Three laps to go, two lap boards are getting ready to come out
20:32Ooh, tell you what, that was close, wasn't it?
20:34Oh, and he's down
20:39All that hard work
20:41Lost the front, dropping down off the, uh, the bank and he's parked back behind Siwa
20:46That is disaster for Roman Fabry, gets back past the Swiss immediately though
20:51Finds himself back into seventh place, but from fourth to seventh
20:54Or maybe even sixth, sixth place
21:08All I can think of is
21:11On the berm, on that wall turn if you like
21:14Watch here
21:16Did he fold the front here, yes he did
21:19And then he was the wrong side of the bike, very lucky not to dislocate something there
21:24So, Bullet Man there, no visor on the helmet
21:36From third to sixth
21:39From fourth to sixth even
21:42So, Hurling's back to fourth, Bonacozzi back up to fifth, Fembrin down to sixth
21:47Siwa seven, Guillo up to eighth, Lupino nine, Colton off ten
21:50And Ruben Fernandez again the back end you know it's
21:55I wonder if they've gone out in uh tinted lenses and they've got laminates on top
22:00You lose a little bit of visible, clear visibility
22:03You jump it up into the shade there, looks darker than it is but I just wonder when the sun now disappearing
22:10At that sort of uh point on the racetrack
22:12Whether they're just missing one or two little holes there
22:18Because Fernandez looking to get away with that one as well
22:26Get ready to take the one lap board, River Fernandez, he dug his heels in
22:31Flexed his muscles, got his elbows out, kept his teammate at bay who said you know what
22:36I'll settle for second
22:39Don't want to lose any more energy unnecessarily and
22:45And he's on his way now, Bonacozzi up to fourth
22:51As Hurlings goes tight to the inside, Bonacozzi outside inside gives him no way through
22:58And Fevre right back on the bullet again and goes around the outside and he moves up into fifth place
23:06It's not all done yet for Fevre, can he still salvage that fourth place and he threw away a moment ago
23:15And it's looking behind him, he's down to sixth
23:23Yeah, he just lets him go by he says look not even involved in the championship so that's how
23:28A little bit of sporting gesture there then from the bullet
23:31Doesn't want to get held up or doesn't want to hold up one of the main protagonists in the championship chase
23:38Third of a lap to go, Ruben Fernandez keeping an eye on the Fevre Bonacozzi situation there were four tenths apart a moment ago
23:52But as they hit the end of sector two pretty imminently still Bonacozzi hanging on that gap six tenths now
24:01But Ruben Fernandez
24:08A tough time last year didn't even have the best start to the championship
24:13But he's hovering there in sixth position
24:16Two third place finishes in the qualifying race but Ruben Fernandez here round six wins the qualifying race
24:21His first since Portugal round five 2023
24:26He'll be pleased with that Tim Geisser 5.8 seconds further back i'm sure he'll be the first to congratulate him but had to play second fiddle
24:35to Ruben
24:38This time around Maxime Renault
24:42Crosses the line in third any moment now gonna be about 20 seconds further back
24:46But Bonacozzi and Fevre they are fighting over fourth place
24:51And who's it going to be that hits the line Bonacozzi hangs on Fevre fifth
