00:00Hey Laura, happy Easter everyone.
00:02Just wanted to say that I can't seem to find a church where I don't get wound up
00:06by either a Labour activist vicar or a Green Party activist vicar.
00:10It's really becoming quite difficult to find a church in London now.
00:14I've been to just under ten churches in London I think within the last six months
00:18and I just get wound up when I leave.
00:22Do you think it might be you?
00:24I think it might be.
00:34Actually I think it might be but the last vicar bless her I did have to pull her up
00:38because she said prayers for everywhere around the world, all the conflicts
00:42but she missed out the hostages and I had to pull her up afterwards and say
00:46look as Christians we really want to pray for everybody, we want to pray for all conflicts around the world
00:50there is still hostages and she was really uncomfortable and she didn't like it at all
00:54and she said oh I should really pray for the hostages shouldn't I?
00:57And I was like well yeah because you're actually doing a lot of damage to the Christian church
01:01with your rhetoric that's coming through quite clearly you know.
01:04And can I, I think fair play to you for taking that point.
01:09And can I actually, I want to respond to what you've just said but also in the context of the King it's fear.
01:15It's fear. I think that there is such a fear now that, that I'm not particularly religious
01:21but I have a lot more sympathy now for Christianity than I used to because I think Christianity is the only religion
01:26that there is a fear of saying this moment, this time is just ours.
01:32We're just going to pray, praise Easter.
01:34We're just going to pray something that is a Christian holiday.
01:37Yeah.
01:38But there is such a fear in this country to do that, that you're not allowed to.
01:42No, exactly.
01:43You say I can't, I can't just be Christian I've got to also, because I'll be seen as being...
01:46But we have to apologise for it.
01:47Yeah, far right.
01:48Or I'll be seen as being wrong.
01:49But the ladies that had a debate this week, one of the ladies, the Muslim lady said,
01:52oh your faith is weak.
01:54It's not our faith that's weak, it's our leadership that's weak in this country.
01:57We have no proper leadership for Christianity in this country.
02:00When is someone going to stand up and do something about the Church of England in this country?
02:06I think it's, I think we found the person who can stand up and do that because I'm...
02:10But I think that that is, it's the idea that if you just praise what is the religion of this country, Christianity,
02:18that you will be seen as someone who is exclusive of other religions and that's why you've got to include everyone.
02:24But every other religion doesn't apologise for their religion.
02:26Absolutely.
02:27They're all happy and they don't apologise for it.
02:28Absolutely.
02:29All power to them.
02:30I think, yeah, yeah, no, exactly.
02:31Absolutely.
02:32I do think, I do think that there was, I think when Welby finally went, was it in the autumn?
02:37Yeah.
02:38I think it might have been in autumn when Welby went.
02:40And I think he did a huge amount of damage.
02:43Yeah, agreed.
02:44He was very well-y with his idea.
02:45And I think people, you know, were very obsessed with the green stuff, very obsessed with the Rwanda plan and scrapping that.
02:51Obsessed with housing and complaining about that when they were sitting on two billion pounds worth of land.
02:55Yeah.
02:56As well.
02:57And of course.
02:58Never forget how much money the church has.
02:59Yeah.
03:00And the church commissioners.
03:01Yeah.
03:02And of course fundamentally did ultimately fail to, you know, fail to deal with child abuse in the church.
03:06I'm going to go to Adam and then Barry.
03:08So Adam, your views on this.
03:10Do you think that our dear king should do a little bit more to, I suppose, promote Christianity really?
03:17Of course he should.
03:18But we've got a prime minister that would rather tweet about other religious days than our own.
03:23And now we've got a king that wants to water down the Easter message.
03:26I just, it looks very sinister from the outside.
03:29I'm an atheist, but I think the church, I think churches are beautiful.
03:33I think they are part of our heritage.
03:35I think they should be celebrated and protected.
03:39And yet we have got churches that are being damaged.
03:41And we have a new church and we've got churches that are used.
03:42And we have to hang out with our churches that are being damaged.
03:43And we got to hang out with our churches that are going to go to FELIC.
03:44And we got to have a new church that is going to happen.
03:45And now?
04:02And we have to bring him in as a New Yorker.
04:04And we have to bring him out of the church.
