00:00Twins, activate. I'm a purple...
00:04Super Twins? The purple ones with the monkey.
00:08This is what's wrong with society today. Come on, man.
00:12You know what, let's just go back to it. We're bringing the
00:16thunder. Hey! Guess who's gonna figure this out?
00:20The upholstery genius.
00:24Okay, I'm not gonna lie, that's never happened.
00:28Outlaw Porsche. We don't follow no rules.
00:32All handcrafted. So beautiful.
00:36Doing the thing, Kenny. I got this puzzle.
00:40We got your problems, we got my problems. Kevin was right.
00:44We're gonna see if we get fire in the engine or fire
00:48out of the engine. Oh, baby. Here we go.
00:52When I look at a blank canvas, I see
00:56endless possibilities. As the ideas come to mind,
01:00the lines start to fall into place.
01:02And before you know it,
01:04we have a bitchin' ride.
01:06A bitchin' ride has intense color.
01:10This is gorgeous. Performance.
01:12It's fantastic.
01:14Stance. Wheels.
01:16Sound. There's one thing that makes our car stand out.
01:20Ours are bitchin' rides.
01:22Well, it never gets old.
01:32Well, as long as we don't make it this far, we'll be okay.
01:34Yeah, we don't need to go that far.
01:40Normally, we don't do things like this.
01:42Normally, cars have chassis.
01:44Normally, there's jack-up points.
01:46But we need to get the weight on the suspension
01:48so we can check to make sure the doors close properly.
01:52Is this gonna clear that...
01:54Sway bar?
01:55Sway bar?
01:56Sway bar's kinda sorta in the way a lot, but...
01:59Golly, wonder if we just picked it up right...
02:02Go up right there.
02:03Right there?
02:04Going up, he's...
02:05I'm running into the sway bar.
02:07Down.
02:08Yeah, just take your pad so it's...
02:10There we go.
02:11There?
02:12Yep.
02:13Yep.
02:14Good.
02:16How far in are you?
02:18Okay, go up easy.
02:20This is sketchy.
02:24Can we go more cold?
02:29About like yay?
02:30About like yay.
02:32Okay.
02:35You know Bilbo Baggins?
02:36This is his cousin, Sketch McBaggins.
02:38Yeah.
02:39Coming down.
02:46You know, we've really been fighting the doors on this Porsche.
02:49We've had to grind some extra material away
02:51just to try to get the fitment right.
02:52Hopefully this is the fix.
02:54We'll see.
02:55Okay.
02:56Now comes the fun part.
02:58Super sketch.
03:01Together now.
03:09We clear now?
03:11That's good.
03:12Yeah.
03:16Now we got to get it up.
03:18Get it back on race ramps.
03:19Stick some jack stands under the front
03:21and then we can do the door.
03:33We're like three inches.
03:35Ish.
03:36Okay.
03:37Walk over on the side and grab it just like Cole did.
03:39It's sketchy but...
03:41The car now floats.
03:43Now we're going to try to put doors on.
03:46And now we can do doors.
03:49For real this time.
03:50It's not going to happen otherwise.
03:52We're going to be standing.
03:53I got the front end if you want to grab the back.
03:56It'll be fine.
03:57Yeah.
03:58A little bit more.
04:00Yeah.
04:01Wow.
04:02Right about there.
04:03That looks good.
04:04That looks pretty deece.
04:09Go up in the back.
04:10Probably...
04:11There somewhere.
04:12Yeah.
04:13Careful right here.
04:16You're golden.
04:17What are you talking about?
04:18Oh, hit him with it!
04:19Look.
04:20It can hang doors.
04:21Another one.
04:27Man.
04:28Honestly, for once, I don't think it's really that bad.
04:31Just because it was pinned.
04:33You just got to hit it.
04:34No, you just got to move it as you hit it.
04:36Okay, let's watch this one.
04:37Let's close it and see.
04:38Here, one sec.
04:39Let me get this pin in.
04:40I think we just went past the stop again.
04:41Oh, man!
04:42We did.
04:43We don't went past it.
04:44Is it crashing the outside of the door?
04:45Mm-hmm.
04:46What about the tops?
04:47Top's tight.
04:48Ooh-wee, mister.
04:49We've gone too far.
04:50Ooh-wee, it's...
04:51Maybe.
04:52I don't know, actually.
04:53It's actually got a gap in the bottom.
04:54It actually has a gap, no?
04:55It looks nice.
04:56Are you all the way out?
04:57Because this one feels like it's got less than the other side.
04:58Yeah, this side right here.
05:11I didn't realize it was a slotted hole until you just said that.
05:21Hey, ghostplace.
05:24that it goes places yeah i think i think it's great everything worked out perfectly the guys
05:31knocked this thing out onward and forward here we go gaps in the back perfect gaps up front
05:37perfect heights perfect wait a second you're telling me that somebody did their job professionally
05:42at convict design i know right it happens all the time all the time is that those are on
05:58uh get oil in the tank oil's in the tank oil's in the engine engine's primed tanks filled
06:04gas is in it finally we're about to fire up the 59 porsche and it's taken a long time to get here
06:09and we are so excited to hear it just gonna take this in for a second
06:17when this porsche originally pulled into the shop we thought it was in
06:20pretty decent shape well as i said we thought
06:25this thing is just awful all new floors new rockers inner and outer i mean it's a lot of new everything
06:34we tore out all the bad and put nothing but good into it it's beautiful it's gonna rip too check
06:43this bad boy out and at last the engine is yet another jewelry box gnarly and now if everything
06:51goes to plan it'll fire up on the very first try like it always does right it's in neutral neutral
06:57for alice do you have a gauge first attempt we're gonna see if we get fire in the engine or fire out
07:04of the engine hey it felt like a backfire not like fire fire not like the screensaver not like the
07:12screensaver sorry i'll clarify let's keep the fire on the inside of the engine you know there are
07:17appropriate jokes to say in a hot rod shop and then well there's others ready when you are brace yourself
07:27you have no oil pressure no oil pressure no oil pressure well at least the car didn't catch on fire
07:40so typically it would be in between the maximum minimum not even on the stick that was just way
07:46low it sucked to dry
07:51this jug might say 65 mustang but just ignore that we're adding more oil
07:57it sucked down that dry sump tank pretty quick it's just getting oil to all of its bits and pieces
08:03we're going to top it off fire it off again and then start doing system checks make sure everything
08:09works super duper don't want to overfill it
08:18max line
08:18so we had 10 11 12 12 12 and a half 13 14 15 so we're exactly 15 quarts in the system right now
08:35noise ready
08:37if cole's calculations are correct this should run flawlessly
08:51fuel pumps hooked up
08:55i don't know i thought it would be that seemed like it ran out of gas yes it did i had over 12 volts
09:03charging oh and it had like 80 psi too oh oil pressure and attack work things are doing things
09:15you know it's gonna make all the things work yeah
09:23see how long this guy is see this long enough
09:26i'm measuring you get a piece big enough to try to get all the way from the front of the headliner all
09:31the way down to the back of it we're doing the sound dentiners but you're not going to see none of
09:35this but i just want to cover it make it look nice
09:43we'll scuff this piece up and then we'll go in there and shoot some glue
09:47when you scuff it helps that glue stick better if you don't scuff it it doesn't grab it's like
09:54painting something you really want a primer
10:01i got to get a good coat on here
10:09one decent coat could go far enough not too heavy but enough where it's gonna stick really good
10:19so we don't have anything falling down
10:41we got a sound ending in this is exactly what it needs
10:45it's deadened it if you do this so now what i need to do i got this puzzle
10:55normally that mark at one through four guess what we got mark one through none
11:02but guess who's gonna figure this out the upholstery genius
11:06how's that for tv huh nope hold on and put an eye out
11:18oh hold on let's chip some paint these are the bows these are what holds everything up
11:23get in there and don't you move
11:28see you later okay i'm not gonna lie that's never happened
11:31all right we're gonna go to number four first yeah that one's good okay okay that one
11:39here to here everything's good it's tight oh yeah we got it boom that's it
11:50i put them in exactly the way they come out i guarantee you that i'll promise you it'll be on
11:55the money because we're doing this with leather not vinyl i'm gonna take some measurements yeah eight
12:01and a half and then i'm gonna lay it out and i'm gonna sew up a quick pattern i'm just gonna do what
12:08i gotta do how's that all handcrafted all justin crafted
12:20we're gonna build a headliner
12:24we got it all sewn up right now and uh i'm gonna put these bows in it we're gonna go get this thing
12:29hung i'll get it clamped in a few places make sure that we don't need to make any adjustments
12:35it's kind of a guessing game we'll see how it looks
12:40and we'll just very carefully stretch it from front to rear not over stretch it until
12:46i got all the bowls sitting up nice and square
12:53okay taz i want you to hold come up here and hold this right here okay and i'm gonna tug it in the back
13:00and see what we're up against just hold it tight don't over pull it just kind of hold it taunt yeah
13:08looks like it's gonna come out pretty good just gonna baby step it and start gluing
13:17normally i'd be in here just to shoot and glue but i don't want it to bleed through the cloth because
13:24it's good quality alcantara for a few extra minutes it's not a big deal
13:31key here is just to pull it even make sure that all the lines are going across are
13:37good and straight then i'll go back in and take a look at this and
13:41wow okay with the way this is set up i don't feel good about leaving that the way it is
13:49so justin was really hoping to wrap up this headliner but it looks like we might be back to
13:55square one this really needs to taper back hard right here stupid
14:09man this ain't fun being 50 crawling in here anymore
14:12getting down in good shape
14:26i gotta just cut back here and then where i have this mark i'll flip pattern it and then just re-sew
14:32this on it'll be ready to go back on from there it should go pretty quick because everything else
14:37looked pretty good when we laid it up there
14:39the headliner was exactly where it needed to be until well it wasn't upholstery genius
14:48yeah right here's the area we're cutting out and what i'm gonna do here i'll take a measurement now
14:54and do a flip pattern a little bit tricky and this is just going to show me exactly what i took off one
15:00side i'm going to take it off the other here
15:20i think what i took out of that front just by holding it up there looks like it's going to be on
15:25the money it's laying out pretty nice
15:33good as gold
15:38special day we're here in detroit we're going to see how paint's made at the accident nobel factory
15:50i'm so pumped all right buddy here we are pontiac michigan what are we doing we're here to see how
15:56paint's made that's right we're here at sickens accident nobel and we're going to check out the
16:01plant i can't wait to see this rosso rosso hey yeah how you doing my favorite color we spray a lot of
16:10your paints i was really kind of curious on how the paints actually made so this is what they call
16:16pre-staging is where the physical process really start okay so this area basically is like the spice
16:21cabinet exactly so rojo you have both wet chemical and then dry chem as well yes okay so pounders and
16:28pigments some decollants come liquid someone's coming powder so we have to mix and grind for the
16:33final product one formula can have between 10 and 30 different raw materials that have to mix together
16:39this baby here is what make the match happen our operators go to the pen on the other side
16:45put the formulation place the tank so the machine starts to dose the color so we move here on this air
16:51mixers blend and send the sample to qc where they're going to evaluate the color make the match
16:57and then approve to fill okay wow the guy giving the tour knows his stuff and he dresses the part
17:04this is this is like something out of like willie wonker's chocolate factory but for paint is there
17:09a chance we can turn this thing on yeah for sure this is kendra right hi hi she's our batch maker
17:16nice to meet you kendra nice to meet you so what are you making i'm getting ready to make a white going
17:25by the uh flm a number okay it's a 4 000 number i know it's a white then i see how many gallons it
17:30is that lets me know what size tank i need to put it in you have like the ultimate paint mix machine
17:38period yes i'm picturing my painter like with his little things in his little scale and you have all
17:44the colors all the valves the computer to run it all yes awesome thank you it is awesome it is
17:51awesome we do the work then we send it on to the mom and pops to do the rest of the right right right
17:56right like metallics and that kind of curls okay well kendra i want to see this machine work all right
18:01i'm going to make it work now she's sat in the receipt now so crazy can you hear yeah that's the
18:08pump send the pets that's opening a solenoid at the at the main pump is send the pan to the pipe now
18:15and the solenoid is going to open and start drop there how what's the volume on this order
18:2250 gallons 50 gallons oh wow it's already up so it's ready to go
18:26oh wow okay there's your binder that's the binder i need 223 pounds of that that is just so cool
18:37so once the color is made where does this stuff go from here the operator is going to take a
18:42quart sample the color lab is going to make sure the color match with the customer needs we have
18:47standards so they're going to spray right they're going to compare we have a spectrophotometer match
18:53electronically when it's good we receive the approval so they're going to start to fill here
18:57put on the cap and that is super cool kendra very nice to meet you hey we'll see it in the shop sooner
19:03later right thanks baby you know in your mind you feel like you know how the paint is made but i had
19:12no idea that they make paint on this scale it's amazing this is where the smart people hang out for
19:17sure so here's where we tell right all right after we blend there as you asked the sample come here
19:23here's the experts okay cool hey guys hi hi thanks sally how are you to be here nice to meet you
19:29very nice to meet you kind of quickly what do you do it gets tested from the raw materials that come in
19:33to the products that they make to the finished clear coats and primers we'll test for adhesion
19:38cratering definitely on a clear coat distinctness of image which is doi
19:42to make sure that our coats are glass we'll check for hardness grind particle size distribution we do
19:48a water check on some of our solvent blends over here to make sure there's no moisture in them wow
19:52that's super cool you get to test everything there's way more steps than i ever thought there was
19:57making paint it's called staying perfect obviously yeah yeah well i'll be the judge of that let's go do it
20:05okay so this is our spray booth it's where we spray panels these are exo nobel robots built by our
20:16tech center over in sessenheim there's rows of equipment there's rows of paint there's people
20:21walking around with official badges i can get in huge trouble here it looks like one of the games at
20:26the fair when you're trying to like hit something with a baseball and they're set up with different
20:32programs depending on the product that you're spraying flashing or mist coat you take the
20:37variation out the human the human very human error yes so we'd flash it and then do the clear coat
20:43on top flash and then bake and take it out of the oven and then read it on that spectrophotometer
20:48or visually look at it nice i love how you took all of uh the variables out by doing this but when
20:55it comes right back down to it you're going to look at it with your eye i find that the perfect
21:00means or cheat and look at the number on the back of it this guy is still upset why don't you tell
21:05about the time when you cheated in miniature golf i never cheated in miniature golf i'm a badass
21:10they've already seen the tv show
21:15now we're going to men plant where the big bets are made far out thank you so much sally thank you
21:21great to see you you guys are shipping out and making about 11 000 to 13 gallons of product a day
21:35right okay so obviously you have to have these conveyors running like non-stop yeah yes these lines
21:40running three ships 24 5. wow all the toners primers clears solvents and additives come from this
21:48part of the the plant so we know where the the big basic parts go i want to see it all where it goes
21:54together okay so we have what we call pilot plant right every single new sku coming from that plant
22:01so we make the first trials before allowed to the factory all right so over there have a control
22:06environmental so you guys can see a little more in deep how we make okay let's check that out
22:14this is our pilot plant right whatever we develop here in terms of finishing goods first coming here
22:20we make the bat three times before launch the factory that's the mixer right so the binders go
22:27there so the resin dissolvents the pigment go inside so you need to agitate that in a specific speed
22:33when you hit this speed is where the pigments start to grind and get wet you see it's calm it's just
22:40homogenized you're going to increase the speed there you're going to start to see the fence from the
22:44vortex oh wow check it out hell yeah now you start to see the action this is where the donuts are made
22:54i have safety glasses on let her rip tater chip so you see this yeah that's when the pigments start to
22:59get grind right okay so we start to add the pigment and then when we finish this process here we check the
23:05grind and then we'll move to this equipment here wow so this chamber here is fulfilled with the zircon
23:14spheres a lot of small spheres so we pressurize the paint into the chamber grind get out so then
23:21depends on the hardness of the pigment and what the color stay more hours more passes or less
23:26passes depends what we make okay i don't know if you know this about me but i have one of these
23:31machines at my house huck meyer yeah that's bad for you man you know you know what it is i make donut
23:36dough with it you do not have a donut maker at your house everyone has to have bowls dave but not
23:41everybody needs a goal a donut maker let's get a goal why would you not doesn't matter so so once
23:46everything's mixed up in here so then it goes over to packaging then is that correct is that the last step
23:51you saw there the filling line so we packed on the can ship to the dc okay you're gonna receive
23:56your orders process pick the material that you need load and ship to you and i hope you guys know
24:02what to do after that let's check out the warehouse when you guys need the paint all that happening behind
24:14these walls uh-huh come through here we start we receive the order we pick and ship it out so
24:23pretty much around 11 000 gallons to 13 000 gallons per day that's insane you know touring this factory
24:29has been amazing but finally we're at the vats we're at the packaging i'm watching cans of paint
24:34get stuff in them and get labels on them get in a box and ship out this is epic 2500 lines per day
24:41it's a lot of volume come out every day we always get it in a timely fashion and it is great what a
24:45great facility this is though man it's insane thanks rose oh yeah thanks for taking the time but since
24:51we've been here you're down 10 000 gallons so you're gonna need to get back to it because we're getting
24:57ready to go place another order oh for sure man anytime we can do some overtime i have way more
25:02appreciation for the process they have to go and triple check quadruple check these colors make sure the
25:08vats are going to be the same make sure the batches are going to be the same make sure the colors match
25:12in super large quantities this place is amazing
25:18and now i know when i come up with my money color what it takes to actually get in a can
25:22come on little buddy
25:35all your porsche dreams come true
25:52deep in the heart of this little 356 is the porsche dream capital of the world finding the road exactly
25:59into the center of that world well that might take a couple more maps it's gonna have a lot of new
26:04everything it's gonna rip too
26:16so many things have been changed on this car to make it look exactly like the car
26:20looked when it got here but in much better quality and much better shape
26:26i'm not complaining too much you know and now all we got to do is fire this car up and finish it
26:34we're bringing the thunder we have the engine installed everything else is really coming
26:41together but getting this car started and running well that seems to be a little bit more of a chore
26:46it's uh sucking down some oil it's like 15 15 quarts right now i will put more in it we're no stranger to
27:07making a car run fuel air and spark that's all it really takes right this one's just a little bit
27:12different because it's not like the normal it's a 2.5 liter man why is it so thirsty how many gallons
27:19does it take all of them outlaw porsche we don't follow no rules
27:26ready for tuning okay hopefully it has oil pressure long enough yeah oil pressure should be cool
27:44kill it that's not me revving it up that's doing it on its own
27:50go ignition on one more time i want to see if the pump's running
28:00it's running i can hear it yeah it's still running yeah why is the idling keep wrapping up
28:05but why i didn't touch the throttle no i was i was holding it all the way off like no throttle
28:13zero percent and it just started idling up for real
28:24yes we've got great oil pressure but that's about only thing we have going for us at this moment
28:31we'll fire it back up
28:32burn it back up another one
28:52yeah
28:56i think it's got too much air
28:58no i mean we're almost almost roll it all the way back i think the blades are just open too far
29:07a couple of adjustment on these carbs and i think we're going to be in the money
29:10they fired up again
29:21what are we idling
29:22seven seven seven eight
29:31not good oil pressure hold up
29:40call it done
29:42success
29:44great success mucho better
29:46we had to just close the throttle bodies to bring the idol down kevin was right
29:53if i had a donut for every time i heard that i'd be a little bit heavier progress yes
30:04come over here come over here are you ready yeah are you ready let me open it for you
30:10a little bit of freezer burn so i hope you like it there's a ton of things happening at the shop but
30:16there's one thing we never overlook treats happy birthday is that good you know to tell
30:24the truth i don't know if it's really this dog's birthday but i just had an excuse to share a treat
30:29because that's the kind of guy i am banana peanut butter flavor you want me to rip this open so you
30:34can get it all happy birthday buddy it's also a reminder to everyone in the shop when my birthday
30:40rolls around feel free to be generous we got your problems you got my problems
31:04it seems pretty center you know with building a custom car or a classic restoration windows always
31:19seem to be either really difficult or really easy
31:27doing the thing kenny i don't think we've ever seen an easy one though
31:30i hear they're out there i just never seen one does anybody else no
31:35as i'm smacking it it's pulling the trim back out up top
31:43you know it seems to me you have to have a perfect balance of weight distributing
31:47um pressure i mean there's so many different equations that need to be checked off to make
31:53things work i think we're close just lay on it take a little nap a little snoozy dozy
31:59coming around the corner
32:06do not want to rip this okay beautiful okay a little pressure down kenny there we go
32:16little less pressure barely okay there we go beautiful okay pressure
32:23we're barely over it barely
32:29we're in all the way
32:40we're doing a sample for the hinges on this port
32:47we're doing a sample for the hinges on this porsche
33:00the back seat in the back of a 356a coupe is pretty much well not useful at all so what we're
33:05gonna do is we're gonna utilize this area so we can move the front seats back a little bit further
33:09but still have some really great detail that fits the vintage and the era of the car
33:14try to wipe it a little more evenly he wanted a natural color so i got a natural look
33:22that was four to five coats well let's go find dave
33:26it doesn't seem orange so it might just need more coats i'd go a little bit darker okay yeah just a
33:38little bit okay let me see if it'll darken up perfect
33:42you know it's like a mad scientist's lab sometimes you add some stuff you take away some
33:54stuff you add some more stuff and at the end of the day if it doesn't blow up all over the lab
33:59i think we're in good shape right that's quite a few coats but that's all right i can get it there
34:03as long as as long as we know where we're at with it so yeah i like that
34:12i'm gonna cut out a couple door panels i'm gonna mark them out and do all my stitching
34:35and then i just gotta pile them in one last time and i'll get them door panels wrapped
34:38up the door panels on this little porsche are going to be amazing it's going to fit the style
34:44of the car perfectly there's a couple other details i'm really excited about we got to make
34:48these seats in four different sections we got to do the bolsters and then we got to build a cushion
34:53and a backrest that's how it got to be pulled around it's going to be kind of tricky because
34:58this is all one solid pan that looks good if the foam works not correct from the get-go
35:03the rest of the project's gonna go south on you this is nestor i love you he loves me
35:12his english is perfect say hello hello hello buddy see i'm nobody's buddy but here we go
35:21we're doing this foam it was two layers to get the good shape 40 seats and then we put a layer of
35:32half inch over it which is a good solid layer and then we just did a little fine sanding
35:37that way there we know the product's going to turn out the way we want it
35:43we're going to get all the foam done get the bolster shape then we're going to do the inserts
35:47in two pieces get that foam ready to cover and then we're going to cover the bolsters and then
35:54build the inserts and then cover those it looks a lot like all the porsches back in the late 50s
36:03early 60s but what's pretty cool is we got the three pleats on the bolsters
36:08which gives it good design but at the same time that's what makes that fit so good with no wrinkles
36:17on the back of these seats we're going to do carpet it's german square weave got really good quality
36:23100 wool so beautiful
36:42our version of covering the back of the seats i think is going to be very unique and very stylish
36:45as you can see the speakers are in i dropped it so i got to narrow it so i'm going to put my old
36:54pattern back in and just put it over what we built i like it right on
37:10basically what we're going to do is we're going to do almost like a waterfall piece of luggage but
37:13it's not really a removable piece of luggage inside of this area will actually be storage for detail
37:18stuff his lunch sack whatever you want to put in there that'll fit and that sits right next to the
37:22subwoofer and also the two midden tweets we're coming to the end of this i'm finishing up this rear
37:27seat elite lid right now and then we got the seats over here ready to go in and uh we're done man it's
37:34official the rush to finish this 59 porsche is on i'm loving it now it looks nice i don't know what i'm
37:41more excited for to see the car finished or just to be done with it oh baby
38:01well i don't think you could get a better place well i think we're in the presence of legendary
38:06supercars here yeah pretty much of all shapes sizes colors that's yours today we're in park city utah
38:12at our good friends the warehouse to debut this beautiful 1959 porsche for our good friend ken
38:18need it got it got it need it need it well need all of them and
38:22the vintage outlaw porsche that fits right into the mix
38:3559 356a outlaw get better you know what this car has turned out so well we got this thing back from
38:45the dip i was like this is just a disaster we had to go through and do a lot of sheet metal work to be
38:52able to do the resto mod that we wanted to with this porsche this thing was caved in rusted all of
38:57the things and now sitting in front of us in this beautiful what color is this this is underslated by
39:03modern classic underslated gray it just i mean it kind of takes my breath away and i hate to say that
39:09because this is kind of volkswagen-esque but yeah well it's kind of won my heart it's got a lot of style
39:13to say the least you know the outlaw is just such a cool idea and heritage and to be able to pull
39:23some of our styling cues into an outlaw porsche i think is really well fit i feel like outlaws are a
39:30little more crusty but i think that this outlaw is just super classy yeah it might be its own class
39:38it's like a classy outlaw porsche it's amazing this thing is off the chain and if you don't know
39:43what you're looking at a lot of guys can actually do damage to the styling of the car a lot of times
39:49if they blow out the back quarters too much you get rid of all of that roundness to the back of
39:53the car you lose what the car was the guys actually started up closer to the door and gave it that longer
39:59radius which is actually tricky because you can't tell that it's been widened in the back but we've
40:04actually added a little over an inch to each side which gave us the ability to run a much wider tire
40:08in the back which definitely helped out with the performance for the wheels i wanted to design
40:13something that would look era perfect so given something that looks like a magnesium wheel adding
40:18a little bit of textures from some of the cookie cutter wheels from 911s earlier in the 70s there's a
40:23lot of little touches in the wheel design that just gives it a very understated yet very custom look
40:29let's check out the interior oh baby
40:30the color combo on this car is definitely classic the underslated and then the berry interior or the
40:38red with the tan carpet you couldn't get any better and just all the details that you have in here
40:44they're just subtle details like the speedster seats which are comfortable they're very comfortable
40:49aviation lap belts with the cool leather on them justin did this insanely cool belted compartment the sub is
40:57on the one side you open this up you have plenty of storage for anything you want to put in there
41:00you have the vents the knobs for the vents the glove box we left a lot of porsche-esque parts in
41:05here and i think it's perfect the dakota digital gauges that were built for us it's based on the
41:09original we have the speedo on the right the tachometer right in the middle where you can see it
41:13these are awesome also the shrunken cotches steering wheel this is really a nice little piece
41:18to just add some detail it keeps it very classic but yet it's got a little bit more of a modern feel
41:24hey why don't you fire it up let's hear how this thing sounds it's amazing twice
41:31it rips too this actually to me it sounds like a 993. two and a half liters is a lot of liters for
41:39a flat four-cylinder engine well especially i think the original motor for this thing would
41:43have been a 1600 yeah so just under 1600 cc yeah like a volkswagen yeah pretty much why don't you pop
41:49the engine so we can uh check out the check out the back check this out
41:56doesn't that look so cool it looks so vintage yet it's obviously got the 911 styled porsche fan shroud
42:02and 51 millimeter webers they're monsters and then it has the dual spark plug heads it has all the porsche-esque
42:09parts on it it's just four cylinders that amount of cc's out of that block in this car is like
42:16unheard of this thing is bad to the bone oh and it's a rocket
42:21this car scoots i was blown away the performance of this little car with this porsche i was very
42:27skeptical from the get-go but we put this souped up polo motors engine in it and it is a beast
42:35this is one of my favorite views of the car too when you get back here looking at the stainless exhaust
42:40on this thing those two huge p-shooters sticking out there i don't think you could call those p-shooters
42:45they're p-shooters they're more like potato guns cannons yeah yeah those two cannons down low yeah
42:50and a little bit of extra traction width back here just really looks natural to the car and the back of
42:54the car still looks like an original 1950 100 you have the alloy deck lid which was a big thing because
43:00when you're dealing with these small cars and the small engines you only have so much space we've messed
43:04around a little bit with 356s before both original and replicas but this one in particular is the biggest
43:09project we've ever done on a vintage 356 and i'm hooked this thing's bad the overall view of the
43:16car the stance i mean this thing i think kenneth is going to be so happy with the car when we get it
43:20to him i'm excited to get it to him let's uh let's get it out of here before the rest of these porsches
43:24start blushing right
