The major parties dominate politics, but they are not holding all the power. Labor’s Anthony Albanese or the Coalition’s Peter Dutton will be Prime Minister, but there’s two other party leaders that you can expect to hold some sway after May 3rd.

00:00There's two shades of green in politics, the Nationals and the Greens.
00:05Oh, that's some original naming there, well done.
00:07They're led by these two men, David Littleproud and Adam Bandt.
00:10So some quick facts, David Littleproud is 48 years old, he used to work with NAB and
00:14Sumcorp banks in agribusiness, he was elected in 2016 to represent the seat of Maranoa,
00:18his grandfather and father were politicians too, and he's got three kids and one wife.
00:22A wife and three children.
00:23Adam Bandt is 52 years old, he's a former industrial lawyer representing workers, he
00:27was elected in 2010 to represent the seat of Melbourne and he's got a wife and two kids.
00:30David Littleproud leads the smaller party that makes up the coalition opposition, the Nationals.

00:37Growing up in Chinchilla in Queensland, he comes from a pretty political family.
00:41He's a former minister for water and agriculture, sitting in the cabinet from 2017 to 2022 which
00:45was when the coalition lost government.
00:46At the moment he's pretty keen to take on the big supermarkets and break up the Colesworth duopoly.
00:50Adam Bandt leads the Greens, they're not in a coalition, but they do hold crucial votes
00:54in the upper house.
00:55Adam Bandt has sat in the lower house since 2010, that's when he won the seat of Melbourne
00:58off Labor which they'd held for decades.
01:00Before that he was an industrial lawyer, representing workers in disputes against Nike and co-workers
01:04in the Latrobe Valley when their power plants were privatised.
01:07He's never held a ministry because the Greens have never actually been in government, but
01:10he's been a spokesman for the party on emergency services, employment and climate change.
