00:00Previously on The Rookie.
00:01Don't puke on him.
00:02This is not my first OD.
00:04I had this girlfriend back in high school.
00:06I found her after prom in a bathroom.
00:08Four years ago, I was diagnosed with cancer.
00:11Given our continued fallout from the mess Monica in Blair London created,
00:15Wesley Evers has been assigned here to make sure we're flying right.
00:19Now I'm supposed to work next to Angel Lopez when all I can think about is how much I want to...
00:23Malvado is a myth.
00:24The criminal equivalent of the boogeyman.
00:26Well, apparently, Southern Front hired him to kill Jason.
00:29We have the same goal.
00:31All you have to do is leave and your problems go away.
00:33I can't do that.
00:38I know you like oat milk, but the store was out, so I got almond.
00:42I hope that's okay.
00:45Ah, hello, my beautiful wife.
00:47Hey, just wanted to check in and see how it's going with my newer replacement model.
00:51Hi, Bailey.
00:52Yeah, this lady's not a replacement.
00:53She's a bait.
00:54And no one can replace you because you are awesome.
00:58Now, is this really necessary?
01:00We have U.S. Marshals watching the house 24-7, and Jason is being hunted by a hitman.
01:06Can I please come home?
01:07Yeah, you can 100% come home if you can look me in the eye and tell me that Jason's not
01:12a relentless psychopath that would risk everything to get back at you for betraying him.
01:16Okay, fine.
01:16You win.
01:17But I'm climbing the walls here.
01:19No offense.
01:20Then take him.
01:21I totally get it.
01:22I mean, with Rachel here, it is a little snug.
01:24Hey.
01:25Oh, so have we had any movement on the mystery woman that Jason is supposedly shacked up with?
01:29No, but given Jason's history, I would say she's probably the lonely wealthy type.
01:34Yeah, which would give him the resources to stay under the radar.
01:37Okay.
01:38Well, if I can't come home, can you please pack up some of my things and give them to Lucy?
01:42I'll text you a list.
01:43Yeah, of course.
01:44And, uh...
01:45Maybe a little later we can find some personal time?
01:52There will be no personal time until we're in our own bed.
01:55I will have Jason caught by tonight.
02:02Hey, I just want to reiterate, I know what I did last week was wrong, and I take no delight
02:07in any of the public fanfare around my hero moment, that our hero moment that we had together.
02:14I just, I fell out of my groove with the whole T.O. swap thing, so I'm just, I'm happy
02:20to be back with my O.G.
02:21Oh, God.
02:23No one likes to suck up Ridley.
02:25Let's go.
02:26Yes, ma'am.
02:26Anything you want to add to this sad mea culpa?
02:28I'm not looking for any extra credit, sir.
02:30I just want to be prepared as possible for whatever the day hopes.
02:33Preparation is only half the battle.
02:35All I care about is how you perform on the streets when your adrenaline's high and you want
02:38to be an action star.
02:39Yes, sir.
02:39I'll keep the wild horse locked in the stable, sir.
02:41Check your phone on your own time, please.
02:45Yes, ma'am.
02:48Oh, wow, they just keep coming in.
02:50Okay, seriously, what's going on right now?
02:52I'm sorry, I'm just, I'm waiting on my test results to come in.
02:55I'm a little bit paranoid.
02:56Oh, that's right.
02:57Well, um, did you get any news?
02:59No.
03:00These are just notifications that my name's being mentioned somewhere online.
03:03Are you serious?
03:06Yeah, sorry, I'll put it away.
03:08Oh, okay.
03:09Wow, they just, they're good.
03:12They're nice comments.
03:12Airplane mode.
03:13Right.
03:16Hey, Mr. Evers.
03:17Welcome back.
03:18Hi.
03:21Sean, hey.
03:23Just wanted to be here to welcome you back.
03:24The office wasn't the same without you.
03:26I mean, I'm glad to be back, as is the entire Midwilshire Station.
03:28Apparently, they don't appreciate oversight.
03:30Yeah, well, look, I'm sure you have a lot to catch up on,
03:34but the district attorney election is right around the corner,
03:36and I just wanted to be sure I could count on your endorsement, man.
03:40Wesley, oh, you are aging backwards.
03:43I just wanted to say welcome back and make sure you're all squared, pen-wise.
03:48Oh, thank you.
03:49Nice try, Vivian, but you're not going to buy your way to a win here.
03:52Don't you find an insecure man such a turnoff?
03:56I am light years from insecure.
03:58Anyway, I would love your endorsement.
04:01Okay.
04:02Okay.
04:03Bye.
04:03Okay.
04:04You know, in my younger days, she really would have gotten under my skin.
04:08Right.
04:09Definitely not now.
04:10No.
04:11Hey, Sean.
04:13You have five minutes to talk about something that's been eating away at the very core of who I am?
04:18Well, that sounds like it's going to take longer than five minutes, but yeah, sure, okay.
04:22Thanks.
04:23You're really the only person I can talk to about this.
04:27I heard something on the Blair London tapes that has got me spinning.
04:31I thought you turned in your final report on those.
04:33No, I did.
04:34It's not criminal.
04:36It's...
04:36You know Keith Graham from Midwilshire?
04:38Yeah, sure.
04:39He's a great guy.
04:40Annoyingly handsome.
04:41I mean, he's a solid detective.
04:42He was seeing Blair?
04:43Yeah, and during his sessions, he revealed that he has recurring intimate dreams about Angela.
04:51Yikes.
04:52Yeah.
04:54Well, look, you know that legally, you cannot divulge any of that to her.
04:58That's a violation of his privacy, and that puts the two of them in an incredibly uncomfortable position.
05:03I know, but it's driving me crazy.
05:05Why?
05:06Wes, I, you know, it seems to me it comes down to how secure you are in your marriage.
05:11He's definitely not the first guy to hit on your hot wife.
05:13He certainly won't be the last.
05:16Wait.
05:18Did you?
05:19I plead the fifth.
05:21All right, this is not going to be easy when the CHP calls for mutual aid, usually because
05:43things have gotten messy, even for L.A.
05:49Now, wrecks like these are all about problem solving and accuracy.
05:54We have to be exact with every word in our reports.
05:57Our measurements can't be off, not even by an inch.
05:59That would mean a change in liability, and then a half-decent lawyer could use that to discredit our entire investigation.
06:05Oh, it's mildly terrifying.
06:06Which is why I'm making you primary.
06:08What?
06:09It's your fears, Officer Juarez.
06:11But I...
06:11You can handle this.
06:12Tell me you can handle this.
06:14I can handle it.
06:16I can handle it.
06:17This is going to be as fun as putting socks on a rooster.
06:21Come to Chippies.
06:22He's like 50 feet away.
06:23He for sure could have walked.
06:27Afternoon.
06:28Thanks for the assist.
06:29Where do you want us?
06:30Given the circumstances, we think this should be an LAPD-led investigation.
06:34No problem.
06:35Where will CHP be stationed?
06:36We'll be helping out at the off-ramp.
06:37Oh, over in the shade for leaving grateful citizens from bumper-to-bumper traffic.
06:42That's nice.
06:42We just want the freeways up and running as quickly as possible.
06:49I told Juarez she's got primary on this.
06:51Bold.
06:52You either want to end her career right now or you honestly believe in her.
06:55What do you want us to do?
06:56Okay, well, first thing first, we render safety and aid to all victims.
07:00That means that our number one priority is just clearing a path for the next ambulance.
07:04I got to take this.
07:06Yeah.
07:08What's happening?
07:08Were you able to get that stuff from Lucy?
07:11She was going to come by here at lunch and bring it to me.
07:14You forgot.
07:15Yeah, sorry.
07:15This morning's been just a little chaotic.
07:17But you stay put, I promise.
07:18I'll get it to you tonight or tomorrow at the latest.
07:21Okay.
07:21Yeah, stay safe.
07:22I love you.
07:23Love you too.
07:33How far, boo?
07:3418.6 feet, son.
07:38Sure about that?
07:38Positive, son.
07:39Ridley, how far?
07:42Uh, 20.
07:43No, that's 20.1, 20.2.
07:46It just keeps, it keeps moving.
07:47Oh, I have to stand still.
07:50Yeah, okay.
07:5120.2.
07:52Okay, that's right.
07:53That's right.
07:53Hey, what's next?
07:54Okay, well, now, I mean, now you take a million photos.
07:58Just make sure you get the scene from every angle.
08:00You search the cars for any open containers, alcohol, drugs.
08:03If there's any indication that this is a DUI, that changes everything.
08:07Okay.
08:08Okay?
08:08Okay.
08:15Clear.
08:19Well, hey, hey.
08:20Did you get pictures from underneath the car and above as well?
08:23No.
08:25No, sorry, sorry.
08:26It's my bad.
08:26Listen, I understand this a lot going on right now, but I can't be holding your hand every
08:30step of the way.
08:32Yeah.
08:33Time to take the training wheels off there, really?
08:38Can you just lay off?
08:41You have no idea what anybody's going through, okay?
08:43My girlfriend died in high school in a car accident, and this whole thing is bringing up
08:47a lot of bad memories.
08:48I'm sorry, dude.
08:49I didn't know.
08:49Just think next time before you speak, okay?
08:53Officer Patton, you clear this car?
08:55Yes, sir.
08:56The driver who's critical went off in the first ambulance.
08:58You didn't think to make note of this?
09:01I'm sorry, sir.
09:02I thought we were checking for beer cans, not firearms.
09:05When you're back home, every call you pull over, have a gun in a glove box.
09:10Bag this, please.
09:14Larez?
09:15Yes, sir?
09:15What about this car?
09:16Do we have any information on this driver?
09:18No, nobody's talked to him yet, but it is registered to a Harrison Novak.
09:23Officers!
09:24Yes, sir.
09:25Double time.
09:26Coming.
09:27You're right there.
09:27This is the LAPD.
09:28Is anyone in there?
09:29We're going to get you out.
09:30Just hang on.
09:31Please, please, please.
09:32Oh, my God.
09:33We need an ambulance.
09:34We're going to get you out.
09:35We're going to get you out.
09:35Just hang on.
09:37Please, please, please.
09:39Oh, my God.
09:40We need an ambulance.
09:41I've never seen him before, but he knew me.
09:47He was waiting.
09:48He called out Savannah, and when I turned, he sprayed me in the eyes with something.
09:53It burned really bad.
09:55Um, I tried to run, but, um, he hit me over the head, and the next thing I knew, I was tied
10:03up in the, in the trunk, and we drove around forever.
10:08It, it felt like hours, and, uh, he was singing.
10:13He kept replaying the same dumb pop songs, singing along at the top of his lungs without
10:18carrying the wound.
10:19Well, you're safe now, okay?
10:21And the good news is, we know who he is.
10:23Officers are kicking down his door as we speak.
10:28Police!
10:29Harrison Novak, we have a warrant for your arrest.
10:32Ridley.
10:49Clear!
10:50Clear!
10:51Clear!
10:52Clear!
10:53Clear!
10:54Clear!
10:55This place is giving me the creeps.
10:59Feels like teenage girls live here, not a 40-year-old dude.
11:00Get used to it.
11:01We're gonna be here for a minute.
11:02It's only property registered in his name.
11:03We need to search every inch of this place.
11:04So, glove up, tear it apart.
11:05Yes, sir.
11:06How bad?
11:07Physically, she should be okay.
11:08Guy did not drop in public and kept me in the trunk for hours.
11:10You know, woman, I don't care.
11:11I don't care.
11:12I don't care.
11:13I don't care.
11:14I don't care.
11:15I don't care.
11:16I don't care.
11:17I don't care.
11:18Being a woman is consistently terrifying.
11:20Then you have a daughter and it only gets worse.
11:22Harrison Novak was arrested three years ago for burglary and assault.
11:26He broke into a woman's home and choked her.
11:28Seemed open and shut, but evidence was compromised
11:30and the prosecution lost the case at trial to Novak's hotshot lawyer.
11:34Who the hell was that?
11:36Your husband.
11:37Yeah, I recognize the case.
11:38The cops screwed up the chain of evidence and I got him acquitted.
11:40Why?
11:41We found a girl in his trunk in pretty bad shape.
11:43He's currently at large, so if you can give us anything, that might help.
11:46I'll pull his file and get it to you ASAP.
11:49Let me know if there's anything else I can do.
11:51Thanks.
11:55You remember the Harrison Novak case?
11:57Uh, yeah.
11:58Of course.
11:59That's the only time I lost a trial.
12:00Why?
12:01Novak just abducted a woman.
12:02Maybe not the first.
12:03Well, that's not good.
12:05For either of us.
12:07Huh.
12:08Hey, I'm sorry again for not reporting the gun, but I did find out the owner had purchased
12:19illegally and it was registered.
12:20That's not the point.
12:21The cars are frequently broken into by criminals who do not have a license to carry.
12:25A weapon not registered to them is a win for the criminal community.
12:28Understood.
12:29It won't happen again.
12:30You know what?
12:31I'm going to recommend you undergo additional training and testing all weekend.
12:34Plus, an additional three hours a day for the next two weeks.
12:36What?
12:37It was a simple mistake.
12:38Look, if I can't trust you to clock loaded weapons in plain sight, what else can't I trust
12:42you with?
13:02What's wrong?
13:03I lost her.
13:04She left the apartment.
13:05I got blocked in by a truck.
13:06Huh?
13:07Come on.
13:08Come on.
13:09She's ducking my call.
13:10Well, you can track her phone, right?
13:15He's headed towards Echo Park, the firehouse.
13:28Punch it.
13:30Oh, ho, ho.
13:35This guy is totally a psycho.
13:37a psycho he wears outside shoes right in the bedroom wait these things gotta be
13:44taped in evidence right potentially take a photo and then bag them hey Ridley can
13:50I ask you a question about something from earlier yeah that's not really my
13:56favorite way to start a conversation but sure a few weeks ago you told me that
13:59your girlfriend overdosed and then earlier I swear I thought I heard you
14:02tell miles that she died in a car accident yeah sorry I should have made
14:07that more clear sure didn't actually die from the OD we got super lucky my
14:12friend's dad is a doctor and and he came home just in time with some naloxone and
14:16then she died in a car accident no that was a different girlfriend a year later
14:20Savannah wasn't a one-off found this hidden in the hallway closet oh my god
14:29more victims
14:37hello hey counselor Harrison Novak you helped me out of a jam a few years ago of course I'm just
14:47finishing up a meeting can I call you right back that's okay I can hold I got time I've got Harrison
14:53Novak on the phone he wants me to represent him what's my ethical obligation here do I have to
14:56tell him I'm no longer defense attorney uh no but as a prosecutor the only thing you can't do is agree
15:00to represent him other than that you can tell him anything he needs to hear to keep him on the line
15:04okay Angela it's Del Monte I've got your husband here he's talking to Novak on the cell phone right
15:08now hot damn setting up a trace now okay I'm putting out speaker Wesley just keep him talking as long as
15:14you can I'll mute my phone so we can listen all right great going over to him now sorry to keep
15:21you waiting how can I help and no problems look I know you're a very busy guy so I will skip the
15:25foreplay I was super impressed with how you handle my case back in the day and I find myself in a
15:31bit of fresh legal jeopardy how bad are we talking I don't like to use that word bad so judgy good bad
15:40right wrong just choices and decisions repressed people use to keep more free-thinking individuals in
15:47a box right well I wasn't trying to judge just need to know a little more of what I'm getting into
15:52before I commit I can tell you this much most people might not like what I do who I am but
15:57everyone inflicts and contributes to some level of pain and suffering might step on a bug or cook a steak
16:04let's do my version of that going on a bigger more connected level with larger and more conscious
16:11animals are you saying you've killed people are you saying you're my lawyer mr. Novak I'm just trying
16:16to make sure we're both on the same page it's taking longer than I'd wanted and I have a bit of a
16:19taking clock problem I'd wanted to achieve so much more by the end of my story certain number of
16:24accomplishments to make the world take notice so now I find myself having to get into the volume
16:30business wait why don't we get together in person and discuss I gotta go but don't worry you'll
16:36probably see me later tonight on your TV wait ciao for now please tell me you got a location he's
16:42calling from sorority row he's gonna pull a Ted Bundy I'm sending every cop in the city but I'm not
16:48sure we're gonna make it there in time say a prayer
17:12who is it I uh Melanie I think I have your package got delivered to my place by mistake
17:27for you thanks so much
17:32oh
18:02Everybody okay?
18:12If any of you ladies are looking to join the LAPD,
18:15I'd like to offer a letter of recommendation written by me, personally.
18:32Get back, this is a crime scene.
18:34Let me throw him in the DA's office. I need to get in there.
18:36I said back! Angela! Hold on, Angela!
18:38Stand down! He's allowed to be here.
18:40Hey, what happened in there? Please tell me no one's dead.
18:42No one is dead. In fact, he got his ass kicked.
18:45Hey, it's okay. You did good. You're the reason we got this guy.
18:50I'm also the reason that he's been free to kill innocent women for the past three years.
18:53His actions are not your fault. You're just doing your job.
18:56Okay.
18:58Hey, thought you were too busy for me.
19:01You changed your mind.
19:02I'm not a defense lawyer anymore. Prosecutor now.
19:05Tricky. That's how the cops got here so quick.
19:08Yeah, you're lucky we did. Those girls were about to kill you.
19:11Get in.
19:12We should get him back to the station as soon as possible. He is a talker.
19:16Yeah, go. I'll be fine.
19:17You sure?
19:18Yeah.

20:07are you? Why are you following me? Did Jason send you? No. I'm the man hunting your wife's husband.
20:15Malvado. I'm not your enemy. We want the same thing. Jason dead. You're a wanted man. I should
20:23call 911. Go ahead. Have me arrested and spend the rest of your life worrying about Jason. Or
20:30you could let me go and never have to worry about him again. May I?
20:50This number cannot be traced, but messages will get back to me. If you hear of Jason's whereabouts,
20:57let me know. And I will put an end to your nightmare.
21:03Hey, you okay? Hey, yeah, I'm fine. What were you thinking? Do you have any idea how dangerous
21:30this was? Oh, look, my phone is ringing. The idea was that you stay in the apartment. All of a sudden,
21:37I got marshals blowing up my phone telling me you've gone missing. You almost gave me a heart
21:40attack. Wait, how did the marshals know I left? Are they tracking my phone? We had a guy posted
21:45outside Lucy's apartment. To spy on me? To protect you. In case Jason saw through the ruse and went
21:50after you there. Can we get back in the shop, please? Why didn't you tell me? That's not the
21:54point. What were you even doing down here in the first place? It doesn't matter.
22:04Before we get started, I'd like to get us on the same page as to how we speak to each other.
22:11I mean, we may have, well, differing philosophies, but doesn't mean we can't be cordial to one
22:18another. You don't make the rules here. I think I kind of do. I mean, you must have a lot of very
22:25distressed families who are desperate for answers, and I am willing to tell you everything. But I
22:31expect to be treated like a person, not a monster. Sure, we can do that. We will just listen. Whatever
22:38you want to tell us. He's on? Yes, you're being recorded. It's not the killing. You think it would
22:53be. It's the least interesting part. The anticipation. The planning. That puts wind in my sails. The
23:05killing itself is more like eating, for me. Necessary, but not as holistically stimulating as the lead-up.
23:16Now, hunting my victims, really feeling their fear, that just fills me up.
23:33When the killing's done, I tend to feel a little empty inside. Lonely, even. So then I have to do
23:46it again. These are human beings you are talking about. You don't feel any kind of remorse. Do you
23:52feel remorse when you eat a burger? What did you do with the bodies? Buried them. Where?
23:58How about I show you?
24:08All right, you can stay here till the end of shift, and then Lucy will be here to bring you back to her
24:13apartment. I'm your wife, John. I don't work for you. And in case you've forgotten, I literally spent
24:18the last three weeks doing tactical military training in Germany. I don't need you to protect
24:22me. Nolan, Novak gave up the location of his dump site. You just on the way. I need you guys to meet
24:28him now. Right. Um, we'll finish this later. Promise. Uh, would you watch her, please?
24:35You're a grown-ass woman. I'm not babysitting. Thank you.
24:52Hey. Hey there. If you really want to be shooting from the outside, I'm completely backlit. And no offense, but if you want to have an easy time selling this doc to Hulu or whatever you want to see,
24:58my face and not, uh, random cops. That's what people actually care about.
25:11No offense, but if you want to have an easy time selling this doc to Hulu or whatever you want to see my face and not to random cops,
25:16from that side i'm completely back like hey no offense but if you want to have an easy time
25:20selling this doctor hulu or whatever you want to see my face and not uh random cops
25:26it's what people actually care about something here hey we got something
25:46where are they going i don't know
26:04i didn't bury anyone over there
26:16they're all wrapped the same they must be yours i swear to god all my kills are back there
26:27that's not mine
26:34i'm gonna have nightmares about that burial site shouldn't it be more hard by now i i should right
26:40no your empathy is your best quality really best quality well there are certain others
26:46best discussed in a non-professional setting
26:51thanks for coming right over yeah of course you saw the bodies yes we didn't unwrap any of them for
26:56fear of compromising dna evidence they're all being sent to our morgue facility downtown give us the
27:01room guys hey good to see you again likewise wish it was over a cafe americano but here we are hi nice
27:08to see you uh who wants to start i will as i told garza it seems clear that we have a second serial
27:13killer at large harrison novak has been falling all over himself to take credit for his kills but he
27:18seemed genuinely shocked when we uncovered those bodies nikki knows who the second killer is maybe
27:23but it feels unlikely i agree with nyla novak seemed totally thrown by the bodies and worried that this
27:28killer would somehow overshadow him okay so what's our first step mine is a thorough examination of all
27:34the victims which will take days if not weeks in the short term we need to try to figure out a
27:38connection between the two killers well let's say harper's intuition is right and novak doesn't know
27:43the identity of the second killer i mean it can't be a coincidence that number two used the same green
27:49tarp to bury his victims he's clearly piggybacking off of novak's burial site right which would indicate
27:54that killer number two is trying to hide his crimes inside novak which is a complete opposite of harrison
27:59novak a killer who's desperate for recognition how did number two know about the burial site i mean
28:05they must have crossed paths somewhere right theoretically but without even the slightest
28:08hint of where to start looking we're talking about an infinitely large haystack hiding a very small
28:12needle hope i'm not interrupting but i might have a smaller haystack for you to search i dug through
28:16my notes from the harrison novak case file when we first met he mentioned that he had spent some
28:20time in a psychiatric facility that wasn't in this file well he was 15 voluntary admission not criminal
28:25which facility westview out in chastworth we've been there before director's a pill we'll go talk to her
28:31do you mind expediting a warrant she's not going to give us anything unless she has to yeah consider it done
28:36you do know not everyone suffering from mental illness is a serial killer of course but we did
28:41just arrest one and he was treated at this facility 15 years ago so we're not just here because we heard
28:46how personable the staff is okay listen we know that this is a sensitive subject but most serial killers
28:52suffer from some sort of psychosis or antisocial personality disorder nice which psychology 101 book did
28:58you pull that from i'm about to put her in a different kind of hospital with all due respect we just pulled
29:04more than a dozen bodies out of a field and now we have a court order for your patient records either
29:08you give us access to those records now or later after you spent the weekend in jail are you aware
29:15people suffering from mental illness are actually more likely to be victims of violent crime yes but
29:20that's not relevant at this moment so are you going to give us the list of patients and staff who are
29:24here with novak or not it'll take a while to assemble you have 12 hours and we don't do grace periods
29:33i really thought you were going to hurt her there for a minute me too
29:36when you weren't exactly playing good cop either whatever gets the job done
29:49what
29:54same green tarp you want to go in as opposed to calling in 100 cops to do it for us no guts no glory
29:59control this is detective lopez harper and i are code six on a follow-up at westview psychiatric
30:10hospital start up another unit in case we come across anything copy that detective
30:29you're ready ready
30:53you okay yeah i'm just regretting my choice of footwear
30:59i can't believe they still have all this equipment you never know when the lobotomies will come back
31:05and start
31:18there's something written here
31:23maybe from an old patient
31:29i feel like i've seen this movie before yeah but they didn't have guns
31:41control the situation is escalating attach a few more units code three copy back detective
31:45i am starting to regret more than just my shoe choice no guts no glory remember it's not fair using my

32:25He's coming back!
32:27You have to get me out of here.
32:29He's going to kill us.
32:30Are there others?
32:31Does he have someone else?
32:32I don't know.
32:33Please.
32:34He needs medical attention now.

34:44basement, conscious and breathing, but injected with some type of paralytic and can't move her
34:48legs. We need those EMTs down here now. Copy that, Detective. They're on their way. It's going to be okay.
35:04How you doing? Better. My feelings mostly back. My best guess is short-term paralytic. I'll just
35:11try not to think too hard about how dirty all the needles were down there. Probably for the best.
35:17Any sign of our suspect? No. He clearly had an escape route. Psych hospital just sent the list
35:21of patients and employees. It's a lot of names. FBI's digging in. How's the guy we pulled out of
35:27there? Remy Darden. He's in rough shape. Hopefully he's stable enough in the morning to talk to us.
35:34And James will be here soon. I didn't tell him what really happened, just that you suffered a
35:39minor injury on the job. Thanks. You want to talk about how scary that was? Nope. You want a hug? No.
35:48Yes.
36:07Nolan. My office.
36:12Yes, sir.
36:12I got a call from Detroit PD. They pulled Prince from a liquor store robbery last night. Were they
36:19Pete's? They were Pete's, weren't they? Jason Weillers. Detroit, Michigan? I ran a Vicap search.
36:26There was another hit on Jason's Prince two days before outside of Provo. Looks like Melvato's
36:31got him spooked. He's been heading east, getting as far away from LA as he can. I'm a little surprised
36:36he picked survival over revenge, but I'll take it. I gave Detroit PD your info. They'll call if they have
36:41anything more. Thank you, sir. Hold up. One more thing. I've been overprotective, and if
36:49Bailey divorces me, no one will blame her. If I'm in your shoes, I'm just as crazed. But
36:54you have to live your lives. Yes, sir.
37:04Where do you think you're going? Home feels like the wrong answer, but I'm not sure why.
37:10Sawed-off shotgun, dagger, nunchucks, AR-15, which two violate the same penal code? We doing
37:15this now. You need to know the law cold, no matter how tired you are, no matter how many
37:18of the things are going on. Right. Sawed-off shotgun and dagger. Violation of 1-2-0-2-0, possession
37:25of an illegal weapon. What about nunchucks? Formerly a violation of 1-2-0-2-0, but currently
37:29no violation at all. They became legal in 2023. Good. You're dismissed. Sergeant, I appreciate
37:37it. How hard you're on me, and how dedicated you are at doing the job right. And I swear
37:42I'm not kissing up. Where I'm from, a lot of cops don't have that same love of diligence.
37:45Some were transplants who have failed from other departments. They didn't care the way
37:50that you do. You know, I guess I really understand how much I had to learn. So, thank you.
37:55I know that logically, intellectually, even legally, I'm not to blame for Novak's crimes,
38:14but emotionally, I'm struggling. Well, you're not a robot, Wes. I mean, I would actually be
38:21more concerned if you felt nothing after all this. But on the bright side, at least you've
38:25forgotten about the detective who has the hots for your wife, right? Well, now I'm thinking
38:29about him. Anyway. What is this? You're having a wake for Sean's political career. Didn't
38:35invite me. I made a sound only a bat could hear. I figured that would do the trick. It
38:40is so nice to see you retain your sense of humor given the end of your campaign. I mean, who
38:45would elect a DA who is so instrumental in letting a serial killer go free? Okay. You
38:50and I both know that what happened is far more complicated than that. Of course. But voters
38:55don't do complicated. You should withdraw before you get embarrassed at the polls. It's really
39:02nice to have you back. She's lovely. Stay. Hey. Hey. Um, how much do you trust the LAPD background
39:22checks? I'm sorry. Why are you at my door asking me that? Come on. Okay. So Seth told me that his
39:28high school girlfriend died of an OD, but then he told Miles that she died in a car accident.
39:33I confronted him about it. He covered it pretty well, said that they were different girlfriends,
39:36but I, that, that seems pretty unlikely. I just can't shake this feeling that there's something
39:41off with him. Look, our background checks are pretty invasive. Andy would have had to pass a polygraph
39:46test, which we both know those are illuminating. If he was hiding something, I think it would have come
39:51out. Hey, you're right. But you're still not satisfied. No, I, I'm sorry. I, okay. Oh, my gosh. Hey,
40:03go, Joel. You like a butt scratch? I miss you. Feelings mutual.
40:09Oh. Look, I, I know it's late and I don't have much in the way of food, but I can order something.
40:20Um, oh, no, no, I should, um, I'm going to go and so have a good night. You too. Okay. Okay. All right.
40:36I'm happy to come back whenever you need me. Thank you. I think, uh, we're all set. Thanks
40:54for the offer. Happy you're back home. Thank you. Thank you so much. Yeah. All righty. Bye,
41:02guys. Bye. See you soon. I am sorry. I am sorry for treating you like a damsel in distress
41:14when you are anything but. You are strong, you are smart, and you are more than capable of handling
41:23yourself. Sometimes it's just hard to figure out what kind of help you need from me. Well,
41:30I knew you were coming from a good place. I just, in the future, I recommend asking instead
41:35of telling. Agreed. Let me try. Would you care to spend some quality personal time with me
41:43in our quality personal bed? Perfect. I'm just going to get us a water, you know, for after.
41:52Excellent. Hydrate.
41:54Don't underestimate her. We are going to find whoever killed this woman and put them away.
42:21That's how it ends. Sight Unseen premieres Monday, 10-8 Mountain on CTV and next day on Crave.
42:33Damn it.
