Les services de renseignements américains recrutent trois experts en arts martiaux, un Chinois, Lee, un Noir, Williams, et un Blanc, Roper. Tous trois profitent d'un championnat de karaté, organisé par le terrible Han sur son île-forteresse de la baie de Hongkong, pour s'introduire dans la place et rassembler les preuves des multiples trafics qui enrichissent Han. A peine se sont-ils familiarisés avec la discipline tyrannique qui régit la vie sur l'île que les trois champions sont démasqués.
