00:00What kind of achievements do you believe to expect this visit will bring to the two countries and also to China and ASEAN?
00:09Your expectations?
00:11We believe that not only better trade relations but also people-to-people relations will be enhanced.
00:18This is a great honour for Malaysia.
00:21And I believe that we have a lot of opportunities that we can discuss, strengthen and build on.
00:29The past achievements and also future opportunities.
00:33YB, do you think this visit comes at a tense time in the world, in global trade, in geopolitics?
00:39With Trump Terridge, do you think President Xi's visit comes at a tense time?
00:43I think right now we never really know how the day will turn out.
00:51Because at one moment he announces certain things and then perhaps a few days later there's a pause.
00:59So there's great uncertainty and unpredictability. This is the new normal.
01:04But Malaysia as a sovereign nation, of course we have our principles and we have our policies that guide our relations with other countries.
01:18And we stand guided, especially with some of our commitments as part of ZOPFAN and also within ASEAN.
01:26We stand guided by that.
01:28We have to accept that globalization is something which is being perhaps challenged or reconsidered today with some of the recent decisions and announcements by the United States President of the White House.
01:46But a lot of the trading relations between countries has been there for a very long time.
01:55And we all know that there's a lot of opportunity when we can work together.
02:00And so Malaysia believes in working more closely and better together.
