00:00Now, Wrexham's remarkable rise shows no signs of slowing down
00:06as they are a third consecutive promotion,
00:09with the championship now firmly in their sights.
00:12Every fixture in the running carries huge weight
00:14as Phil Parkinson's side chase a place in the history books.
00:18Momentum, belief and a fiercely competitive squad
00:21have powered Wrexham into contention once again.
00:24The challenge now is to finish strong, navigate the pressure
00:27and keep racking up the points in a tightly contested race.
00:31We discuss the club's promotion push, the crucial games to come
00:34and what it would mean to achieve a record-breaking third rise in a row.
00:39The dream is alive and Wrexham are pushing to make it a reality.
00:44Yeah, I mean, you have to look pre-dating the takeover really
00:47where you turn up to the race course on the match day
00:50and you wouldn't know what to expect.
00:51And that was kind of, that was it for the National League years really.
00:56There was a couple of seasons where Wrexham were very good at home.
00:58You think the last one was probably the 12-13 season.
01:02I think 17-18 they were okay at home as well,
01:04but not as formidable, you know, under Sam Ricketts and Graham Barrow.
01:08But yeah, you've got to go back over a decade for the last time
01:12Wrexham were winning this much at home.
01:14And you take it for granted almost now
01:16because you turn up to a Wrexham home game
01:18and you expect to see a home win.
01:20And so often you get one.
01:22Yeah, and just looking ahead to the summer,
01:26I mean, there's a lot of questions in the air
01:28in terms of their transfer strategy.
01:30It's been pointed out a number of times
01:32in terms of the way they've invested in older talents,
01:34not really looking at the future,
01:36but there are still some young talents throughout Wrexham's side.
01:39I mean, let's just say they are to go up to the championship.
01:41How do they attack the summer window?
01:44How do they make the most of it
01:45and get them ready for, you know,
01:48one of the toughest leagues in the world really
01:50to compete in, in terms of, you know,
01:53you look at the sort of relegation fight,
01:55it's five points between the bottom three
01:56and sort of 14th.
01:58And then you look at the playoff race as well.
02:00It's sort of the same situation up there
02:02and the championship is so unpredictable.
02:05Will Wrexham be ready for that
02:07if they don't have a good summer?
02:10It's a very difficult one.
02:12Obviously, Wrexham fans,
02:13and I know Wrexham, the club themselves,
02:14would say, wait, let us get there first
02:16before we start speculating too much.
02:17But from an outside point of view,
02:19you definitely say that I still think now
02:21the jump between League One and the championship
02:23is probably the biggest gulf between any league,
02:26probably in Europe,
02:28just, you know, from our loose following of them all anyway.
02:31I think the gulf between the championship
02:33and the Premier League is definitely getting bigger.
02:34You can see that with the teams that are going down,
02:36but still League One to the championship
02:37is night and day really.
02:39And it will be rather uncharted territory
02:42for Wrexham in their modern history.
02:44Last time they were there was, what, 1982.
02:46So you've got to go a long way back
02:48for Wrexham being a second division side, as it were.
02:51And, you know, the finances now are ridiculous
02:54just to sort of tread water in the championship.
02:56You can lose, you know, 20, 30 million pound a year.
03:01You have to pay astronomical wages
03:03just to keep this squad going.
03:04So there would have to be a massive squad overhaul
03:07for Wrexham this season, this summer, sorry,
03:10if they were to go up.
03:11No matter how good they've been
03:12and how effective they've been in League One,
03:16you then look at even some of their best players,
03:18Stephen Fletcher, James McLean.
03:19Can they really cut at a championship level now
03:21at their ripe old ages?
03:23There are a few young players there
03:25who have a huge potential,
03:26but again, they'll be playing at the highest level
03:29they've ever played at.
03:31There's a few in the squad
03:32who have championship experience,
03:33but even then they didn't really light the championship up.
03:35So you look at Owen O'Connell, who's at Hull,
03:37George Dobson, who's played for Charlton there.
03:40Elliot Lee's also had a spell there of Luton Town.
03:43And you say, are they really going to,
03:45are they going to really light it up?
03:46Jack Marriott, you know, he played there with Derby.
03:48I think, you know, he got them to a playoff final,
03:51but that's, what, six, seven years ago now.
03:53So there will be lots of question marks
03:55for that Wrexham team.
03:56And this would be the summer
03:57in which they really have to push that investment
04:00further.
04:01You'd have to be breaking your record transfer fee.
04:05You'd have to be ruthless
04:06with getting rid of players.
04:09The issue there as well is lots of players
04:10are tied down to quite lucrative contracts.
04:12They're not going to get that sort of money elsewhere.
04:14So you might have to take a hit
04:15on even the players you lose.
04:17And then you're also gambling.
04:19And it's just really fascinating
04:21because we've always said
04:23since the National League days
04:24that Wrexham had a League One squad.
04:26There was League One calibre players in that team,
04:28which they do have now.
04:30There's never been a suggestion
04:31that Wrexham have ever had
04:32a Championship-level squad.
04:33And we've seen this season
04:35the way it's unfolded
04:36that they've been able to compete
04:37at League One level,
04:39but the Championship would be
04:40an astronomical leap
04:42from where they are now.
04:44to League One level,
04:46they're going to be able to
04:46get rid of anything on the
04:48League One,
04:49and then I will 所以
04:50At that point,
04:50I don't know.
04:52It's a good part at LIH.
04:53Now on the defensive line
04:53where we work in the middle
