00:44The Commission on Elections gives Misamis Oriental Governor Peter Unabia three days
00:48to explain why a formal disqualification petition should not be filed against him following
00:53sexist and discriminatory remarks he made in campaign rallies in his province.
00:58Muslim and women's rights groups also condemned his remarks as perpetuating harmful stereotypes
01:03about people from the Bangsamoro region and women.
01:06Comelec's task force SAFE notes that in one rally, Unabia said the capital's nursing scholarship
01:11program is only for, quote, beautiful women.
01:14In a separate campaign rally, Unabia also presented a slideshow warning voters against
01:18candidates with ties to Maranao politicians.
01:21Critics have stated that the comments undermine efforts to foster inclusivity and respect,
01:26particularly in Mindanao, which has faced decades of conflict and is still healing from
01:30its effects.
01:32In an order, the task force cites a Comelec resolution which upholds the anti-discrimination
01:37and fair campaigning guidelines.
01:39It also cites a Supreme Court ruling that defines discrimination against women, gender-based
01:43harassment and labeling as election-related offenses.
01:47Unabia says he was quoted out of context and was merely raising awareness about local safety
01:52concerns.
01:53Meantime, a video clip of aspiring Camarines Sur governor Elrey Villafuerte's sexually
01:57suggestive pickup lines resurfaces.
02:00Villafuerte defended his pickup lines, saying it had been a long-standing practice since 2010.

02:28Interior and local government secretary John Wick Remulia says that Russian vlogger Vitaly
02:33Zdorovetsky will not be deported yet so he can face the consequences of his actions under
02:38Philippine law.
02:40Remulia says Vitaly will be detained by the Bureau of Immigration as a quote,
02:44undesirable alien.
02:46This days after he was arrested on April 3 and said to have been awaiting deportation
02:50proceedings.
03:02Remulia also recounts the inappropriate actions the vlogger committed against a security guard
03:06in BGC who reportedly filed a police blotter report with the PNP.
03:10He adds that they are still looking for the cameraman who helped Vitaly record his content.
03:16He also urges lawmakers to modify the cyber libel law to stop vloggers, both local and
03:21foreign, from making disruptive content in the country.
03:37Thousands of protesters gathered in Washington, D.C. and states across the U.S. on April 5
03:43to oppose President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk's government overhaul.
03:48Protests were planned in all 50 U.S. states, plus Canada and Mexico, with a total of 1,200
03:53demonstrations altogether.
03:55Trump shook financial markets and upset allies with a raft of trade tariffs last week.
04:00More than 400 demonstrators gathered just a few miles from where Trump was spotted playing
04:04a round of golf in Florida.
04:06With Trump's blessing, Musk's Department of Government Efficiency team eliminated more
04:10than 200,000 jobs from the 2.3 million federal workforce.
04:15Several hundred people gathered outside the Social Security Administration headquarters
04:19in Baltimore to protest against cuts to the agency, which delivers benefits to the elderly
04:24and disabled.
04:25Much of Trump's agenda has been restrained by lawsuits contending he has overstepped
04:29his authority with attempts to fire civil servants, deport immigrants and reverse transgender
04:34rights.
04:37Pope Francis makes his first public appearance after being discharged from the hospital two
04:41weeks ago, where he was treated for double pneumonia.
04:44He enters St. Peter's Square in a wheelchair to greet the crowd on Sunday, April 6.
04:49The pope comes out in the square just before noon after a mass for the Catholic Church's
04:53Jubilee Year.
04:54Pope Francis waves to the crowd before speaking briefly.
04:57Buona Domenica a tutti, grazie tante.
05:03The 88-year-old pope has been out of the public eye since March 23, when he gave a short greeting
05:07before leaving Rome's Gemelli Hospital after over five weeks of treatment for the most
05:12serious health issue of his 12-year papacy.
05:15The Vatican has not yet said if the pope will be able to lead the celebrations for Easter
05:19on April 20.
05:22Eraserhead's frontman Eli Buendia announces that Marco Sadoro will not be joining the
05:27band's upcoming music festival due to sexual abuse allegations against the guitarist.
05:32Buendia says in a post,
05:34"...we acknowledge the recent allegations that have surfaced online.
05:37As proponents of justice, we unequivocally condemn all criminal acts and stand against
05:41abuse of any form.
05:43Above all, we seek the truth."
05:45He then adds that Adoro is working to address the issue and will step back from a, quote,
05:50"...upcoming project, likely the Eraserhead's Electric Fun Music Festival on May 31."
05:55In late March, a Reddit user accused Adoro of rape when the person was still in high
05:59school and that he also raped countless other women.
06:02However, this is not the first time Adoro faced grave abuse allegations.
06:06In 2019, his daughter, singer-songwriter Syd Hartha, spoke up about the abuse she experienced.
06:13In 2022, when the band announced their reunion concert, fans called for Adoro to be excluded
06:18from the show.
06:19As of this posting, Adoro has yet to issue a statement.
