00:26How many times do you eat?
00:28Sometimes, twice.
00:30Sometimes, once.
00:31That's why she's very thankful whenever there's a feeding program
00:35or free food that her two grandchildren give to the school.
00:40They're happy because they're getting full.
00:42They're excited. They're happy.
00:44That's how much our budget is reduced.
00:47The administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.
00:53is very strict on the nutrition of the students who will study in the Department of Education.
00:57That's why, from P3,000,
00:59she tripled and made P11,000
01:02the fund for a school-based feeding program.
01:06The feeding days are 160 days,
01:09or the days of giving free food,
01:12and she added another 15 days to the national learning camp.
01:17Her goal is to address malnutrition
01:20and improve the school performance of the students
01:23by providing a substantial portion of food and drink
01:27to the students in kindergarten to elementary school.
01:30Education Secretary Sunny Angara said,
01:33it's important to provide the right nutrition to the students,
01:36especially for the students' brains,
01:38before they reach the age of five.
01:41We have this exam called the CARLA exam.
01:43It measures the literacy of the students,
01:46the ability to read.
01:47It improved, especially at the early grades.
01:51It shows that the earlier we intervene, the better.
01:55The Department of Social Welfare and Development also provided assistance
02:00to ensure that no Filipino will be hungry.
02:03Of the P300,000 households,
02:05or equivalent to P1,000,000 and P500,000 individuals,
02:09P3,000 a month of assistance was received
02:13to buy food from the agency.
02:15The DSWD's Walang Gutom Kitchen is also rolling
02:19a portion of hot meals.
02:23No Filipino should be hungry.
02:28That's why the DSWD is trying to harmonize and align
02:33the various programs and services of national government agencies
02:37and that would continue to partner with the private sector
02:40so that we could collectively come up with sustainable solutions
02:43that would ultimately address the problem on hunger and malnutrition.
