Gujarat Titans' Sai Sudharsan praised R Sai Kishore's pre-match preparation, calling it a major reason behind his success in the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) so far. The left-arm spinner is the highest wicket-taker for Gujarat so far with six wickets from three matches.

00:00I think it might be probably because of the left-right combination and having a bit more
00:25experience in number 3 and number 4 as you can see.
00:28I feel Butler is bringing in a lot of experience and a lot of knowledge in his back which is
00:34helping us to settle or stabilise the middle overs and have a very good last 5 overs.
00:44It was really good I feel because the wicket was not as easy as we can see.
00:48Even RCB found it a little difficult in the first innings but I felt it slightly eased
00:53out in the second innings and obviously they started really well.
00:56The way Josh and Bhuvibhai bowled it was extraordinary.
00:59So I felt the corner session was a bit, it was more of taking the game deep because right
01:04now the wicket was not playing the way we wanted.
01:06So slowly after the 8-9 overs it got better and we maximised the most out of it.
01:11Sir, I feel whenever we chase a slow, a less target in a difficult wicket and a bowling
01:41like RCB which is one of the best bowling in the league this year, I feel the most important
01:46thing is wickets in hand.
01:47I think we focus more on wickets in hand and as a team as well we are not a team who go
01:53in with a certain plan and try and do that rather than we see the situation, we see the
01:58conditions, how it plays then we try and make the plan out of it and we try and get used
02:04to the conditions and make our plan out of it.
02:08Sir, it's your third season in the IPL, can you just take us through the kind of work
02:15that you have done on your T20 team over the time that you have been with the Tigers and
02:21where you see the game at today?
02:23It's my fourth year so I feel it has given me a lot of experience.
02:28I got exposed to a few difficult conditions.
02:30I got exposed to a lot of fast bowling, a lot of quick bowling in the nets with GT and
02:35I feel the most important thing which has helped my evolution or the way I have improved
02:40my T20 batting is the game time I get here and the practice time I get here with the
02:45Titans, with the bowlers, all quality bowlers, all international bowlers.
02:48So I feel that has helped me even from the nets I would say I got exposed to a lot of
02:52things, a lot of difficult conditions.
02:54So I have learnt a lot in these three years and obviously playing for India and playing
02:58for all other leagues outside India, I feel it has helped me even more to understand the
03:03game better and the basics of the game as well.
03:06Out of all the shots that you played today, which one really stands out?
03:10I would say the straight drive of yours.
03:17It was a good night for the left-handed Sai from Tamil Nadu.
03:21Your compatriot had a very good smell.
03:24How crucial was that smell?
03:26It's a thing that most of the fast bowlers come on those four overs especially when Rashid
03:30was playing.
03:31Exactly.
03:32Saiki, we definitely have to talk about him because he was one of the main contributions
03:36for this game and the previous games as well.
03:39Saiki, I feel in this game it was the most important spell because the wicket was very
03:44difficult for the fast bowlers.
03:46So as batters, as any batters, even me, we would try and maximise the most out of from
03:50the spinners.
03:51So I feel he was smart enough and used the right speeds in this wicket and right angles
03:55to Tim David and Liam Livingstone when he bowled there.
03:59I feel he used the speed really well in the angles.
04:02And that's why I think he had a great...
04:05Okay, last two questions please.
04:08Yes, sir.
04:33I won't say.
04:34I think it was par score how the wicket behaved.
04:37But I feel because we had a better power play and we didn't lose a lot of wickets, we were
04:42in upper hand after the power play I felt.
04:44But maybe I felt as bowling side, as a bowling team, maybe we would have given 15 or 20 more
04:51runs in the last few overs.
04:53But I felt it was par score.
05:04I feel, yeah, it's very important as a team, we have to field well, we have to do really
05:14well in the fielding side.
05:16I feel whoever dropped the catches, they are still good fielders and we put a lot of work
05:21in fielding each and every day in the practice.
05:23So I feel it's just a matter of getting used to the grounds, getting used to the different
05:27lights because Ahmedabad is different, Bangalore is different, next Hyderabad will be a bit
05:31different.
05:32So getting used to that is what we are missing maybe.
05:34I think we have to improve on those lines and be a better fielding team next game and
05:38the following games.
05:40Last question please.
05:59I feel off the field, I can tell you the amount of effort he puts, the amount of preparation
06:05he does in terms of tactical advantages.
06:07I feel that is making him a bit ahead than other bowlers is what my feeling is because
06:12he understands the game, he understands the situation and uses his speeds, uses his angles.
06:17So that is one of the most best strengths I would say and I think that is why he is
06:22bowling the way he is.
