00:00Meghan Trainor is getting candid. On Saturday, March 29th, the singer was honored with the
00:05Hitmaker Award during the 2025 Billboard Women in Music event. As she accepted the prize,
00:10the 31-year-old revealed how her songs have helped her with her own confidence.
00:15Hitmaker is crazy. I just wanted to write songs and music that makes people feel happy and dance
00:22and hopefully love themselves a little bit more. Because everyone asks me,
00:27how are you so positive? And how do you do so much and smile all the time? But the truth is
00:32that I write these songs for myself because I am so insecure and I have therapy a lot. I have a
00:41lot of therapy. I'm on medicine. Thank you. And I love my medicine. I love my therapist so much.
00:49She's probably watching. And asking for help is the only reason why I'm here along with my
00:55incredible family. My mom. My mom and my dad are here. And my amazing team. Full self-management.
01:02Sally. Especially Sally who's being honored tonight. Oh, there's two microphones. And
01:08Maggie and Tommy. Oh, it's a guy. And I write these songs because I need these positive
01:13affirmations for myself. And if it helps anyone else, that'd be amazing too. Two days later,
01:19on Monday, the All About That bass singer took to Instagram to reflect on the event as she shared
01:24some feelings about how there was a focus directed to her appearance. Feeling so honored to be
01:29recognized by Billboard Women in Music as a hit maker. What a dream. But it's a little disheartening
01:34that so many of the questions and comments were focused on my body instead of my music, my passion,
01:38or the decade of hard work that got me here. This is what it's like to be a woman in the music
01:42industry. She began before revealing that she has used a weight loss drug. No, I don't look like I
01:48did 10 years ago. I've been on a journey to be the healthiest, strongest version of myself for my kids
01:52and for me. I've worked with a dietician, made huge lifestyle changes, started exercising with
01:56a trainer, and yes, I use science and support, shout out to Manjaro, to help me after my second
02:01pregnancy. And I'm so glad I did because I feel great. She then finished off her post by writing,
02:06here's to celebrating talent, growth, and the power of putting yourself first.
02:10Let's keep shifting the convo to what really matters, with love.
