00:12This past Saturday. We marked the National Vietnam War
00:15Veterans Day
00:1752 years ago on March 29th
00:191973 the last u.s. Combat troops departed Vietnam marking the end of direct u.s.
00:25Involvement yet for too many of those who returned home. There were no parades no celebration only silence
00:32Where gratitude should have been yet they carried the burden of their service with dignity
00:37Despite this they bore the weight of their service
00:43Many many were drafted, but all answered the call with honor and distinction
00:47They not only served with valor, but also took it upon themselves to ensure their sacrifice would never be forgotten
00:55the Vietnam Veterans War Memorial in Washington DC was built entirely through private donations a
01:00Testament to their dedication to one another and to the 2.7 million service members who served in Vietnam
01:08Mr. Speaker we all know someone who served in Vietnam
01:11There are our friends our family our neighbors is long overdue that we salute them, but it's never too late to show our gratitude
