00:00Hello and welcome to Glasgow World's Fitbit Talk, the round-up of Rangers Celtic and any
00:05other news from across the Scottish football landscape involving Scotland's two biggest
00:10clubs and they were back in action this weekend and we'll move on to Rangers now, obviously
00:17their 4-3-1 Premiership is a bit new for them at this point, they know they're going to
00:22finish second, they know they're not going to finish first, it's very much about trying
00:26to end the season positively and I suppose for Barry Ferguson to put himself in the best
00:30possible shape for possibly giving himself a chance of becoming the permanent manager
00:35at the end of the season, in a competitive sense I suppose the big thing will be athletic
00:41Bilbao in just over a week's time. But in terms of the weekend, Sadio Desar is again
00:49continuing to confuse and baffle, I think I've seen somebody say online that if you
00:57give Sadio Desar 10 chances he'll be dangerous and as much as he does take a bit of criticism
01:06from time to time, he has now scored 45 goals in 100 Rangers appearances, I think that puts
01:13him in brackets with names such as Alfredo Morelos for the amount of goals scored in
01:18the first 100 Rangers games. There's been a bit of speculation on his future but at
01:26the same time just as you think he's not cutting it here, he steps up and I think the one thing
01:32you can say about Sadio Desar is he's got a lot of ball about him because he has been
01:37lambasted for large spells of his time at Rangers yet he seems like the only one in
01:43that time he seems capable of, you know you're going to get 15-20 goals a season now.
01:48Yeah he's the ultimate enigma isn't he, I do feel he's got a part to play in this Rangers
01:53team next season going forward, yes obviously his conversion rate is a great deal lower
01:59than it probably ought to be given the amount of chances that he does miss but if you look
02:04at his goalscoring record I think that's kind of partly the reason Rangers signed him from
02:07Cremonese because his record in Italy wasn't bad at all you know, yes it should be a lot
02:16higher than it is but I think the one thing that you certainly cannot question is that
02:21relentless work rate, he's got a terrific attitude, he never gives up, yes he scores
02:27and kind of fits in spurts but I guess in terms of the long-term outlook is he the man
02:37that's going to lead Rangers over the line to win trophies next season, I'm not so sure
02:45but I do kind of feel he's a very good player still to have around the squad, I know his
02:50influence is obviously rubbed off in the likes of Hans Eichmann who was particularly vocal about
02:55you know obviously Dessert losing his place in the team at the turn of the year
03:00to the Moroccan but now he's obviously back in there and scoring again seems to be
03:06the kind of first choice doesn't he under Barry Ferguson at this moment in time so
03:11it'll be interesting, you'd imagine that Rangers will be keen to keep hold of him next season
03:16because you know even though he isn't overly prolific, strikers like that are still kind
03:23of relatively hard to come by and I still think he can kind of make a big contribution to the
03:31Rangers team going forward. Yeah and I suppose I mean for Barry Ferguson, I think we spoke about
03:38it last week in terms of his permanent manager bid, it's these type of games you need to be
03:45winning, I mean there's easier ways to win it certainly but I mean is this the, are these the
03:53type of games do you think that he's going to be judged on in terms of these are the ones that they
03:57have slipped up on and it's where the most improvement needs to be made because I think
04:00at the start of the season if you would have said before the split two wins against Celtic
04:05out of the three, one of them at Parkhead and quarterfinals of the Europa League you would
04:11think well we're probably going to be right in with a shout at the title, you wouldn't probably
04:15think that it's games at home to Smitherin, Motherwell, Queen's Park and then away trips
04:20to the likes of Hibbs that have really derailed Rangers this season in a domestic sense.
