00:00You're at the Oscars. What is going through your mind, Mr. Heartstopper?
00:04Just try and stay cool, try and stay composed, try not to embarrass myself too much.
00:09Um, yeah, and just, just trying to have fun. That's my goal, you know?
00:14What did you think when they invited you to the Academy Awards?
00:19I mean, The Wild Robot is obviously the kind of film I'm here to support.
00:24Um, and I knew immediately when we started the process that it was something real special.
00:30Um, and you never really know what's gonna happen, but, but I think there was always a feeling that this, that people were really gonna love this film.
00:37And so, I feel very special to be here with it, you know?
00:41Will we see a sequel? Will you be in the sequel?
00:43Well, I certainly hope so.
00:44You hope so. Have they spoken to you about sequel ideas?
00:47I think they may have. I think it's kind of whispers at the moment.
00:51But, but I'm, I'm available whenever they need me.
00:54And I love that you and Joe Locke are here at the same time. I saw him the other night at the party.
00:58Absolutely.
00:59Look at the year he's been having with Agatha all along. Tell me about your relationship with Joe, watching the two of you grow together.
01:06Yeah, well, I mean, just as you say, we, we really did grow together.
01:09And we, we, I feel like we've sort of grown up in the same sphere and, uh, and on the same job and, and have really, I like to think, been there for each other, uh, throughout it all.
01:19And yeah, it feels really special to both be here at our first Oscars together.
01:24And, uh, yeah, it's gonna, it's gonna, it's gonna be a good day.
01:27What was the text, text chain to you and Joe today about the Oscars?
01:32I think he asked me when he was, when I was going to show up because we tend to try to, you know, correlate a little bit.
01:38Um, and.
01:39Are you on schedule or not?
01:41I think I may have been slightly late. Maybe a little bit.
01:44Already, Kit? Already?
01:46Feels slightly sacrilegious.
01:47So I'm going to try and keep that on the quiet.
01:50You did Broadway.
01:51Obviously, you've done voice work.
01:53You've done streaming.
01:55What do you want to do next?
01:56What's that big?
01:57That's what's that big dream?
01:59I want to do, you know, I want to do some real, real movies.
02:03Uh, I did a film called Warfare that's coming out in a couple of months, uh, which I'm really, really proud of.
02:09And I think is, uh, is a really special film.
02:11So I really, you know, that's the next step.
02:14And hopefully just keep on doing a bunch of really different stuff and, and, and good stuff.
02:19That's always the goal.
02:20And I know I've spoken to you about this before.
02:22Kids, young people who are reaching out to you and saying, thank you for living your authentic self.
02:28Thank you for representation.
02:29Thank you for showing this beautiful portrayal in streaming and in real life.
02:33What does that feel like?
02:35I mean, it's a real privilege, you know, to be able to do that with your job.
02:38And, uh, and, and especially as an actor, to be able to do a project that has such an impact on people is, will forever be a real privilege for me.
02:45And, uh, yeah, there's, you know, there's not much else to say other than I'm just incredibly proud to be a part of it.
02:52What do you say to that kid who's struggling right now?
02:55I say, you know, these things are, life is really, really, really tricky and everyone goes through some really, really hard stuff and everything's relative.
03:04You know, it may feel like certain people are going through worse, but it feels slightly all-consuming, but, uh, it will get better.
03:12That's, that's I think the goal.
