01:03When do you need to change your IC?

01:06There are a few instances where this is a must.

01:09First up, how damaged is damaged?

01:12Or is it up to date?

01:14If you look at this abang's IC...

01:17It looks like it's almost ready for recycling.

01:21Here are a few good pointers for you to take note of.

01:25Number one.

01:26When the plastic starts peeling off.

01:29Number two.

01:30When the chip starts chipping.

01:32Number three.

01:33When the card is clearly damaged.

01:36Besides your MyCard requiring a change because of damage...

01:39There's also a mandatory renewal after you're 18.

01:43You can't walk around looking like an adult with an IC picture of yourself at 12.

01:48It's plain logic, buddy.

01:50The renewal has to be done between the age of 18 to 25.

01:54Or else, you could be slapped with a penalty.

01:57Yikes.

01:59Another reason why you should change your IC is if your permanent address has changed.

02:03Imagine you've bought a house in Selangor, lived in it for years...

02:07But your MyCard still shows the address of your hometown in Perlis.

02:13Speaking of precious...

02:14If you were to lose it or if your wallet or purse gets stolen...

02:18Which we hope you never do...

02:20You can't just walk into the National Registration Department and request for a new one.

02:25You have to make a police report first before you can proceed to make a new one.

02:31Now, all these changes do cost around 10 ringgit.

02:34But the penalties are a different story.

02:37They can range from 100 ringgit all the way to 1,000 ringgit.

02:42Yes, that's how serious the National Registration Department takes your MyCut...

02:47Because that's how precious it really is.

02:50Now, once you've got that new MyCut in hand...

02:53Take care of it like it's your baby.

02:55And of course, enjoy all the benefits that come with it.
