00:00Dialogues with Mr. Parkinson
00:07It's called Dialogues with Mr. Parkinson, the first docufilm made by the Parkinson Italian Confederation,
00:14with the non-conditioning support of Zambon, who tries to make multiple masks fall,
00:19behind which he hides his true identity, this multiform neurodegenerative pathology,
00:24of which in Italy more than 300,000 people suffer,
00:27characterized by a great variety of symptoms, more than 40,
00:31that combine with each other in a different way and intensity in each person.
00:36In Dialogues with Mr. Parkinson, on air in PrimaVision on April 12,
00:40the day after the World Day of Parkinson, at 1.45 p.m. on 7D,
00:46and then available on the website and on the social channels of the Parkinson Italian Confederation,
00:51the personification of this disease converses with three patients, a doctor and a caregiver.
00:57And so, slowly, the hereditary and mean Mr. Parkinson leaves the place to a slightly less cynical intruder,
01:03who confesses his admiration for the stories of character beyond the tremor.
01:08But who is Mr. Parkinson?
01:10He is a detestable being who invades the body with special effects for the journalist Vincenzo Mollica,
01:15who writes him a special letter and hates him, but at the same time thanks Valentina,
01:20who has become a mother despite his presence, because she says,
01:23if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have been aware of being so strong.
01:28As a reaction, he began to pedal more and more,
01:30while Roberto, who realized that during the intense sports activity,
01:34Mr. Parkinson was not there, and learned that he should never give up.
01:39Instead, he sometimes sees him as a bradipo,
01:41other times as a mad monkey, Rossana, wife and life giver of Alberto,
01:46who is close to him in this fight and with whom he says, we are still on the ring.
01:50So he did his mission of life, the president of the Parkinson Confederation in Italy, Giangi Milesi,
01:56who is committed to fighting the suffering of people with his own disease and their relatives,
02:01because he says, life must be happy for everyone, full of quality.
02:06The uniqueness of this docu-film, then, is the personalization of the disease in Mr. Parkinson.
02:12But why this choice?
02:14The disease is like playing chess with you,
02:18so you really feel its aggression,
02:22as if you are able to face an illness and another one jumps out at you.
02:29It is a complex disease that occurs in a thousand different ways.
02:37There is always the enemy that fights you from somewhere,
02:41that stings you, that hits you with pain, that hits you with an illness.
02:46All these forms make the disease as if it were alive,
02:51as if it had almost a will, an identity.
02:54A crazy thing, obviously, from the point of view of reasoning.
02:59But it is something that makes our educational action effective,
03:04and this is precisely the reason for this film,
03:08which aims to educate people to fight the disease in the most effective way possible.
03:15It is defined by Paolo Calabresi, Professor of Neurology at the Università Cattolica
03:22and Director of the Complex Operative Unit of Neurology of the Gemelli IRCS Polyclinic in Rome.
03:28Creating the prison is a stigma.
03:31The patient is given a condition of normality, of physiological situation,
03:37he finds himself to have the weight of a diagnosis,
03:41which is a diagnosis that evokes bad things for the future.
03:47The key to success is an individual key.
03:50We must be able to find it together with each patient,
03:55where, in addition to the pharmacological aspects,
03:58we must consider some fundamental aspects.
04:02Sociality is an important element.
04:05For sociality it means maintaining relationships with the family,
04:09with work, with friends,
04:11and the less pessimistic perception of the future,
04:16because the patient, thanks to an approach not only pharmacological but holistic,
04:22is able to see a more positive future.
04:26Moreover, according to the Parkinson's investigation,
04:29conducted by Astra Research on 525 patients and Italian caregivers in December 2024,
04:36for one in three people Mr. Parkinson is an infiltrator ready to do damage
04:40and for one in two the impact index of this pathology on everyday life is high.
04:45The rhythms that become slower and the movements that become tiring are to be felt.
04:50Tiredness is often invalidating.
04:53He feels limited in his free time and in his travels, as well as at work.
04:57Well over 79% of the interviewees did not know this disease before the diagnosis,
05:02and in particular they did not expect such a multiplicity of symptoms, 63%.
05:07However, Parkinson's is the fastest growing neurodegenerative disease
05:12and its prevalence has doubled in the last 25 years.
05:15Hence Zambon's commitment to this pathology.
05:20In Zambon we are guided by the commitment to improve the quality of life of people through innovation.
05:27But also the support to the community of patients and to the clinical world is important
05:33because it puts us in a position to respond to the needs of people
05:40forced to deal with diseases with a high impact such as Parkinson's disease.
05:45This also includes the work that we have done and continue to do with the Parkinson's Confederation of Italy
05:52and which has been realized in the realization of this documentary
05:56that brings to the screen the personification of the disease, showing it in all its complexity.
