Step back in time to ancient Egypt in London's new immersive exhibition

Visitors will be able to step back over 3,000 years into the land of pharaohs from March 28, 2025 as they enter London's new immersive exhibition on ancient Egypt. "Tutankhamun: The Immersive Exhibition," features one of Europe’s largest immersive video mapping rooms with eight-meter-high projections, and takes visitors on a virtual journey through ancient Egypt while recounting its rich history. The exhibition features a seated 360-degree VR experience plus an Interactive Digital Metaverse walk-through of the Valley of the Kings, exploring British archaeologist Howard Carter's basecamp, and reliving the historical moment of his 1922 discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun, one of ancient Egypt's most legendary rulers.

00:30Everybody has heard about Tutankhamun,
00:32but if you ask them a bit more,
00:34they are not able to tell you more,
00:37except for the fact that they know the mosque
00:38or they know that something was with the treasure room
00:42and something was untouched.
00:43But the true story behind it,
00:45how well preserved these 5,500 pieces were found
00:51inside his grave by Howard Carter
00:54just over 100 years ago,
00:56is something that gives us so much information
00:59about history and about the past.
01:01And we thought all those angles are so impressive
01:05and are so interesting for our point of view
01:10to make this kind of technological show.

01:32We have the world premiere of the hologram,
01:35and that is a hologram of the mummification process
01:37of Tutankhamun, and that is an extraordinary
01:40technological trick of which I don't even
01:42totally understand how it works,
01:43but the magic happens right in front of you,
01:45and that is, yeah, something extraordinary,
01:48and I think it's great what technique can bring us
01:51in our way of having an entertaining,
01:55educational exhibit visit for young people
01:59and elderly and everybody in between.

03:04The real objects have a special magic.
03:08When you see an original object in front of a replica,
03:12it's absolutely different because it's a copy.
03:15One copy is a copy, but the original,
03:18I think it has a soul.
03:20It has the life of the ancient Egyptians, you know,
03:23and this is the reason many people are interested
03:26in seeing the original objects.

04:10We are very excited because in other cities in Europe,
04:14in Germany, in Austria, including in Egypt,
04:19because we had a very great success.
04:23And the most impressive thing I felt in these cities
04:28is the eyes of the children, the eyes of girls and boys
04:33enjoying the mask, although it's a replica,
04:36it's a very good replica, and especially the original objects.
04:40They feel that they were in a magical machine of time,
04:46okay, to go to the past,
04:49and they feel themselves like Egyptians, like archaeologists.
