00:33Farmers are encouraged to plant hybrid rice

00:40In a farm walk held at the Mindanao Rice Agricultural Innovation Center

00:46farmers witnessed how new technology can help

00:53One of the farmers who used to have an interest in hybrid rice

01:08First of all, I'm very thankful that the government of the province
01:12has given me the opportunity to plant it.
01:15According to the Provincial Agriculture Office,
01:18the traditional variety of upland rice can easily be planted
01:22with strong winds and storms.
01:24Meanwhile, hybrid rice has shown good results
01:28because it can reach up to 87 sacks per hectare,
01:32almost twice as much as the traditional upland rice.
