00:00Good evening.
00:04President Trump announced 25 percent tariffs against our auto industry.
00:11And this is a direct attack, to be clear, a direct attack on the very workers that I
00:17stood in front of, Unifor workers, I stood in front of this morning at the Ambassador
00:23Bridge.
00:24This is a symbol and a reality up until now of the tight ties between our two countries,
00:31ties of kinship, ties of commerce, ties that are in the process of being broken.
00:39We will defend our workers, we will defend our companies, we will defend our country,
00:46and we will defend it together.
00:48This will hurt us, but through this period, by being together, we will emerge stronger.
00:55I think what's happened, and this was part of our discussion, over the course of the
01:01last several months, Canadian workers, Canadians as a whole across this country, have gotten
01:08over the shock of the betrayal and are learning lessons.
01:14We have to look out for ourselves and we have to look out for each other and work
01:19together for each other.
01:21We've announced, of course, retaliatory tariffs.
01:24We have other options for those retaliatory tariffs.
01:27I have asked for a meeting, I will convene, rather, a meeting of the Canada-U.S. Cabinet
01:36tomorrow to discuss our trade options.
01:39Thank you very much.
